Help HOW TO: Installing Froyo 2.2

Longpress.... come on man.....

Just put your finger on the file and hold it there.... watch what happens. Longpress... get it.

Anyone getting
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)

Looks like i have to do a factory reset from what i can find on google... whats the easiest way to do that??? Do I have to take off Launcher Pro and if I do will I have to pay for plus again???

That's normal after a major update until files are optimized and cached. It should go away after a day.

Did you copy the file from your computer? (O/W it might not be named properly or in the proper location.)

Did you unplug your USB cable? When the computer "sees" your SD card, the phone can't.
 
The update went nice and smooth for me and things seem fine with the exception that when i try to access my SD card it keeps looping with the message that its "preparing SD card". Anyone else experience this? It obviously worked before as I placed the update file in the root and updated.

No I got the file from my phone and moved it to the root of sd card..

I uninstalled the update and I will download the file to my pc and move it to my phone when I get home:(
 
Do you keep root after updating?

I noticed in another thread that if you are rooted and want to retain root, you need to move the su file from /system/bin to /system/xbin but when I try to do that, it says the file system is read-only. I'm rooted, but it won't let me move it. I'm using Root Explorer by the way.

EDIT: To anyone having a similar problem, you have to press the "Mount R/W" button in the top right hand corner of Root Explorer. This will allow you to bypass the Read-Only (hence the R/W = Read/Write... I couldn't figure it out).
 
I can access all my pictures on my SD card, but they never seem to load in the Gallery? Any suggestions?

NM -- finally updated just took like 45 minutes.
 
I'm stuck at the MOTO logo! Everything comes up, I can feel it vibrate and hear the notification tone, but all I can see is the logo! Help!

I can't even boot up into recovery mode anymore!
 
well i'm stuck on the Motorola logo...
I pulled the battery several time, no luck goes back to moto logo...
Pluged in usb and of course p/c can't see the Droidx...
Tried to reload "update" but now I get a fail....
I did a date wipe after update didn't seem to help...
Tried to use RDS lite but it can't see Droidx so I guess I can't use the "gift" file...
I was thinking of pulling the s/d and formatting it then putting the update file on it only. But that seem excessive and not a good thing to do...
I live in a one story house so I don't have any ledges to stand on,what next???

Update : got bootloader doing it thing with SBF...stepping from low ledge...

SUCCESS yeah me!!! Piece of cake, no sweat, a breeze, Wife says why do you do these thing???like the mountain "because it's there"....

My volume is pretty loud now! before my volume was pretty quiet. In the sounds menu under settings you can change 3 differents volumes(Ringtone, Media, Alarm). Makes it much easier to change.

Yeah, I just went in to change my ringer volume to check its sound and I actually had to turn it down a bit from what it use to be set to, much louder now than it was.

how did you get to reload the update? im stuck on the moto logo, im downloading what i hope is the right sbf file, its downloading pretty slow. RDS does see my phone (at least i got that going) i'm on the second floor, so that wont do it. but luckily i'm only six blocks from the HWY..

me too. im gonna download the sbf file and restore the phone.
file is DL slow. so ill let you know when im done...ive been stuck for more then an hour i think this is or only option...

Yep, I'm downloading it too. I think that when I get back to stock 2.1, I will STAY THERE until the OFFICIAL update is pushed out.
