How's the battery life?

BTW,i got mine yesterday and the guy at Verizon told me I should charge the phone, only if it is off because it will be better for the battery if it is charging only if the phone is off.. it is true?

No that's not true and he should be fired for saying that. Ok..... Maybe not fired but still. The Note 2 is a BEAST and the battery is one of the longest lasting I've ever had in a cell phone. Many of us used our phones from the time we got them until it dropped to about 5% (whch was a LOT of hours).

The battery only takes a tad over 2 hrs to charge. Only charge it with the phone off if you feel you absolutely have to; but you dont.

Just because I love posting pics:D

You don't have to turn the phone off to charge. It's a lithium ion battery, not a nickel metal hydride (nimh). Nimh's from 15 years ago required special care.

The only issue with lithium is too fast of a charge, and there's a built in circuit in the phone to prevent over charging based on amperage in. In fact, if you turn the phone off, the battery will charge faster, as the charger doesn't have to support the phone running.

Looks good, but screen on time is vital to post with that pic :D

I am a idiot, i took at picture at 6:24.. I tried to upload the original unedit picture but the forum said it is too big of a file so i have to crop

click the screen bar, it will show you your screen on-time since last charge. It's a very important metric when trying to understand the mystery and voodoo of what is called battery life!

7:22, wow!!!!!!! :d:d

Lol, I was surprised myself. To be fair, my brightness was set pretty low, only rising it as needed depending on the environment. This screen is so bright that I rarely go up to 50% and I only go to 100% brightness when I'm outside.

I learned from razr hd post that there's an app called lux that you can use to give screen settings based on light input. I haven't tried it, it was a stop gap on the razr hd, but it might help with those that like a dimmer screen on an auto setting.

After 1 month with the phone now, I'm finding myself falling back into bad habits of not actually using the phone, just to conserve battery life.

Even though my initial experiences were that I was finding ways to actually drain the battery on the phone, now that I've been using the phone for a while, it seems that I am not quite using the phone as much as I'd "like" to use it, without worrying about battery drain.

I've tried a few battery monitor widgets, but the best one seemed to be GSam, as far as spitting out more detailed info on what apps or processes might be eating up my battery. Recently, I've noticed that Android processes have been consuming the biggest percentage, but I can't pinpoint if that's from my Exchange Push Mail or something else.

The strangest thing I've noticed is my standby battery life drops significantly, when I swap the battery out before I go to bed. I'll go from 100% to 70% in a 10 hour timeframe (without touching the phone). I have a feeling it has to do with the weak wi-fi signal from my room (which happens to be the furthest away from my router at home). I'm switching the settings to have wi-fi stay on, only if the phone is plugged in, to see if the 3g signal actually maintains battery life longer over night.

I really do enjoy troubleshooting because I know this battery is still way longer lasting than any device I've ever owned, but I'd love to get it acting more proficient than it currently is.

DrEx need a hug..... :D
Not using it to save battery.... What's wrong with you.
With all the spare batteries you have why are you in panic mode?

I also notice the decrease overnight when phone isn't in use. Since I have 3 batteries I uninstalled GSam and don't worry about it.

It's just force of habit and especially when I start to notice quicker drain on the phone, as compared to how it was out of the box...LOL. I'm averaging 15-18, but yesterday was the worst that I've seen at around 12 hours. I'm going to give Gsam another go and see if it still causes as much drain as it did when I first had it installed.

I'm asking myself what have I been doing different lately? The battery drain is not accepted but it's noticeable. I'm still averaging a whole day of use but with less screen on time. I did notice also that somewhere along the line my brightness got turned all the way up.

Hmm I'm hoping that the battery life doesn't start sucking over time since the battery life was one of the main reasons I came back to the Note 2.

One thing that I notice, is b if I'm at work, my batteries don't last as long. Not sure why, but I don't get data at work. But the moment I step out the building, I have full 4G signal and my batteries last significantly longer. Now I just turn off sync and data while at work and everything's fine and dandy. =)

This is something that had only affected me the past few days. Like I said with 3 batteries I really don't have to worry too much about it. If it gets worse I'll definitely post about it.

I have been using the hyperion 6200mAh extended battery for about a week now. My final conclusion, is this battery is awesome. The stock battery is great as well but I was just looking for a good spare battery for when a charger is not handy. I am able to keep brightness at 100% and gps on the whole time and still get two-three days out of it.
I just got my 64gb sd card in the mail so my phone has been on and off the charger. I'll try and post pictures without the phone being charged.

I'm using the browser for now. I guess I should buckle down and get tapatalk.
