I'm seeing rumors that a 6.7.235 ICS leak is out but supposedly it's locked down like ICS was on the Razr and you can't FXZ back to 902 so if you find it and want to flash it be warned you could be stuck if it's not the Official OTA.

Yup - locked down. Testing a file to see if we can fool it so that we can upgrade to future leaks.

Yeah I'd avoid this in case rooting doesn't work as well. A lot of us got screwed on the Droid X once the last update came out, couldn't SBF back to anything. Once Moto locks it down, they're pretty good about keeping it that way.

Question is, when it pops up saying there is a system update, what should I do (I don't remember the choices)?

Then I hope somebody (quickly) confirms that 1.2 Ghz is still there.

Then, how do I get the update back (to install)...I would assume, go to Settings > About Phone > System Updates?

If 1.2 Ghz is no longer there, I will load the 232 ICS leak and stay there.

You sure are worried about that extra .2 in CPU speed huh? I doubt most people are really even doing anything with their Bionic that would make the speed difference matter, aside from making your battery die quicker. Anyways, usually when an OTA comes out you'll get a gray alert box that pops up and tells you there is download available and there is usually an option to accept it or to be reminded later. I'm pretty sure they're always optional I can't recall one where you had to accept it right that moment. And yes to get the update alert again you would go into the system updates menu and tell it to check for updates which would trigger it to pop up again.

If you get 1.2 GHz, you'll still get it.

Keep doubting. Remember, it was the first VZW Dual Core device on 4G. A lot of us migrated to it b/c of that one reason, and we've been waiting to take full advantage of it. I, for one, have 380+ downloaded apps....

Only if it is the same leak version - IOW- .235 can restore .235 nandroid backups, but not other backups of previous ROMs. IOW, you cannot go back

You cannot currently go back from .235. No how, no way.

I soft bricked my phone trying ot go back, then hard bricked it (boot failure) for a good three hours last night. You cannot go back currently, and anyone would be pretty foolish in trying to do so if that person was not pretty high up in terms of being very Android fluent (not end user fluent but backend fluent). I volunteered my phone and time b/c I wanted to make sure - and I made sure. You will not go back. This is a one way street.

Makes one wonder if the change that they are using is on the kernel level, partition or possibly an alternate data stream... any of which could give the right developer a clue that may help lead to an unlocked kernel at some point... or one can hope at least since I'd bet the change is on the kernel level

It's in cdt.bin, plus boot.img plus another file. I posted a .csv file detailing the file diff between .235 &.232.

And these change makes it so that you cannot do a revert to anything pre-.235 at all.

One thing else - moto patched 5 if the video files in the help section, so i believer that they are still working on a release, i don't believe that this it's final yet either.

Just a better explanation of it, as I don't want it coming back on me if people get stuck off the upgrade path, but it should be easy enough to find for anyone who understands the danger in flashing this one.

You cannot go back to GB form this release - but you can still be on path for an OTA later on, using a tool developed by MattLGroff, who wrote similar tools for the RAZR when folks were taking leaks and going off the upgrade path there as well.

Your probably right about the external leak and enough people know you can't go back to GB so it's no longer needed.

IOW, you can use this to fool the leak, but you cannot use it to try to boot back into GB.

from what I've seen posted by the few who have flashed it, a new tutorial video or two and locking it down so you can't ever go back to a earlier version is about it.

Actually, you have 5 updated tutorial videos, new IPTables files, Let's Golf 2 install location moved, two sign on apps removed (i think those are the VZW single sign on apps), a ton of framework patches, and a lot more.

Since these are betas, there is no changelog, but one thing i discovered tonight: just like in GB, if you power off the phone while in vibrate or silent mode, then next time you boot the boot animation is also silent. Previous ICS bids always played the boot animation audio regardless of your shut down state.

As we discover more, more will be reported.
