Soooo....
What's better as a daily driver: CM10 or AOKP?
I've come to the conclusion that I'm OK with no camera for the time being.

I'm running CM10 and I absolutely love it but I have noticed that while I don't seem to go without signal, the strength of my signal is apparently lower. Of course it could be that it just displays signal differently, but it appears to be much worse.
I'll give AOKP a shot.
Check the signal level in the secret phone menu (dial *#*#4636#*#* to access it). I don't see how the radio could be affected by the ROM.
The RIL code is somewhat different in JB .. perhaps the signal strength reporting has changed. That might also explain the 3G spottiness. If, for example, the RIL decides that the signal is not strong enough to support 3G. But I don't know if that's what happens or not.
Possible, but I'm still thinking it's related to the gsm issue. When 3g drops there is no fluctuation in the signal. And typically, it comes before or after the sim reboot prompt
I kept getting the SIM prompt and could never make it go away so the phone became unusable so I was not able to test either of the roms . I was so disappointed that I could not provide feedback or even try the roms they looked awsome. This happened with CM10 and AOKP. I had to go back to 3.75 The only issue I have there is Bluetooth which I rarely use as a shut in.
Any time I get that prompt, I hit the back button and it goes away. Been using aokp daily for a month or so now
Why not make a init.d script to do
#!/system/bin/sh
Setprop keyguard.no_require_sim=true

all of tdm's roms already have that line in the build.prop.

I'll probably need a logcat from ics and from jb to compare.
Would you need a logcat from me when I'm loosing signal and then one from the stock after I flash it so you can compare them? Would a logcat actually show you what is causing the difference in signal between ROMs? If that's all you need and it'll help, I'll be happy to get them if I can remember to do so. The problem is me remembering to do it. Lol
Started up my "good" marquee and looks like the battery is dead. 0% charge and no progress after half an hour on the charger. Swapped batteries with my old busted marquee and all is well again. Hooray for spare parts!
Can anyone post(or repost) a link for aokp?
