Root ICS/CM9-JB/CM10 Development Thread

Got iproj wrapped up and just waiting on a couple details to make it official.

I am also now a member of the AOKP team. :D

Will start back on the marquee kernel Monday.

Good to see you again tdm. Although it has been said congratulations on your appointment to the AOKP team.

where i can download the update i have lg marque 855

There are some pretty big hurdles for tdm and the other devs to jump as far as the kernel goes for this ROM, so, correct me if I'm wrong tdm, but I don't believe there's an update yet. I'm sure he'll let us know when there's something new to try out.

There haven't been any new updates. The most recent alphas are as good as its gonna get until the kernel hurdle is cleared.

Maybe on of the admin/moderators would be able to move the links for the most recent alphas of aokp and cm10/cm9 to the OP on the first page to avoid confusion

Phrant1c is absolutely correct.

I really want to get the cameras going next. They have never worked on any ICS or JB ROM, and that's a big problem.

The 2.6.35 (Gingerbread based) kernel that we have been using is apparently not compatible with the ICS camera stuff so it needs to be upgraded. But of course, the Marquee never got ICS, so we don't have any official sources to work with. We do have ICS sources for the P970, which is a very close cousin to the Marquee. Most things can be made to work by using the P970 sources and patching in some Marquee specific stuff (eg. for the CDMA radio and such). Unfortunately, one thing that doesn't work is the USB port. The USB hardware is entirely different between the two models.

So right now I'm slogging through the two kernels, updating the Marquee kernel to the P970 code piece by piece. Hopefully I'll figure this out eventually and we'll have an ICS kernel to work with. But it's going to take some time. Probably a few weeks.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention: if and when I can get the kernel fixed and release a functional JB ROM, I'll submit the device for official CM and AOKP support just like I did with the Spectrum.

Best of luck to you tdm, here's to hoping you can get the cameras working, really my only complaint with the ics and jb roms.

Hey tdm, Bloodawn or whoever may be interested in helping me. I want to dive right into this stuff I find its a pretty good way for me to learn. Can I do any harm to my phone, after doing a back up with flashing the cm10 p970? I want to learn applying all the patches and helping to debug, sense this is my phone right now this is kind of where I would like to start, and if I mess it up, meh I'll go get another, what is your advice?

You won't hurt the hardware. Just make sure that your recovery is reliable.

Is there danger of loosing cwm recovery?

N/M I finally figured out how to ask Google this correctly, Even if I mess this up I can still fix the phone using the secondary boot loader (download mode) Correct?

Installing a p970 ROM from eg. CM will not change your recovery. I just wanted to point out that it won't boot and you will be relying on recovery to restore a working system.

Also, keep in mind that download mode isn't as easy as you may think. It is easy with Samsung phones because of Odin. LG doesn't have Odin. Lol :D

I found on another forum where I saw tdm that we can buy a hardware, USB cable, That will force the marquee into download mode, is that true to any of your knowledge? They had links to websites where you could buy the cable, No idea if they are still active.

I thought it might be a good way in adb to see broken things, Patch them, And have the ability to ask questions to people who already solved them, before trying to help with the current problems, Like the USB, Unless you wouldn't mind me asking questions about your current alphas and i will just dive right in there. I am game for whatever and just want to help.
