ICS for us! Confirmed

Yes it would!!!
That would pretty much fry your phone!!!

*Brick*

Who's ready to see a screen similar to this on their Incredible 2?

See what the text on the screen shows about charging?

*raises hand* :)

I'm really surprised hat it only says you need 35% battery to dl and install the update! You shouldn't have it plugged it while updating either?! WTF is going on here? Are they trying to brick your phone?!

I'm confuseled. Why would you not want it plugged in? I've had every phone I ever owned plugged in for every update. Better safe than sorry I say.

As long as you have a decent charge on the phone (looks like they determined it was 35%) you shouldn't need to plug it in.

You're probably right but I've always used the "It's better safe than sorry" theory and have the phone plugged in.

My point is: if VZW views the DINC2 as EOL, hopes for ICS become moot because VZW IMHO isn't likely to spend the money and effort needed to bring ICS to a product that's "dead".

Believe me, I expect to be very happy to see ICS show up on my DINC2.

Since HTC and VZW pulled their collective fingers out of their collective bums and fixed the clock app problem, I've been very pleased with the DINC2. But that episode left me feeling far more cynical about the odds of VZW or HTC doing anything more than the bare minimum to get by. And that cynicism has me thinking probably the ICS has melted away as DINC2 hits EOL.

I thought the same thing about 2.1 for my Eris. And mind you, this was a time when that sucker was getting left in the dust for a new amazing advancement like every other week. But after holding my breath for 3 months, 2.1 appeared....

And then 2 weeks later I got bored and rooted to froyo.

I think EOL is a poor way for VZW to describe a phone that's been taken off the shelves. I don't think that last year's car models are somehow "dead" because they can't be bought new anymore. The Dinc2 has quite a bit more life in it even if it doesn't receive ICS.

Regarding ICS, how much practical difference will it make? If it's offered I will happily install it, but if it isn't what's the big loss? The phone is already doing pretty much everything a smartphone can do.

This is a good question. The only thing I can think of is the hardware acceleration.

Ah, I forgot about that. Hardware acceleration actually could make a difference.

Yeah, but even then - is your DInc2 really crawling along now? I think we sometimes get overly excited over something that's new and shiny.

I'm not rooted. One of the guys on my staff rooted his Galaxy last night and was showing off his CM9 today to me. It made me think about rooting for a quick minute; when I really thought about what functionality gains I would realize (not many), I said I'll wait for the official upgrade.

Seriously? Overly excited?! Not possible. I get all excited over a fresh pack of gum :D
That's probably why I rooted. Always opportunity for change.

I'm thinking we'll be seeing ICS sometime in the very near future. Last night, I had 6 "Verizon" application updates pushed to my phone, including Blockbuster for HTC and Google Street View, which weren't previously part of Big Reds standard bloatware.

Hoping this is a sign of good things to come in the near future!
I had the same updates pushed to my phone too. I don't even use any of these apps
:eviltongue:

Ok here's my question. I flashed my Dinc2 to Straight Talk. So when Verizon finally decides to let us enjoy ICS, will there be a link to the update file posted somewhere?
