when I boot into recovery I just get the phone with an exclaimtion point in a red triangle
nevermind I figured it out.
EDIT:
Ok from rom manager it wont boot into clockwork, I just get the screen I described above, any ideas, I'm making progress....

) to make sure the s-off is in place. then using the volume keys and power button,id select recovery to make sure it was still there. you could reboot a couple times to make sure it all "stuck" but after seeing it a second time, you should be good to go. youre free at this point to flash the rom of your choice,or the superuser app and enjoy being rooted
well, heres what i did: awhile back i ran the back to stock PB31IMG file and unrooted my phone. i then flashed amon recovery via my s-off bootloader to see if it would work. it did. at that point i was runnin stock, unrooted firmware, with clockwork recovery. i made a backup of this stock, unrooted rom.I'm not really positive on how Z4 works but I wonder if its loading Dropbox onto the card or just using the rageagainstthecage exploit somehow temporarily. Just a stab in the dark but maybe it worked for Scotty because you had the proper files on the card from actual rooting? Idk.
hmm. what hboot do you have? what firmware? amoled or slcd? if you look at hardware version, 002 means amoled, 003 means slcd.

I get the message e:cant open/cache.recovery/command after flashing clockwork then turning off the phone and going into Hboot.
) as i get a kick out of trying to figure things like this out. hang in there
there are no files on my sd card(that i can see anyway) that had anything to do with the root process.

Idk if it's critical or not but back in the day before Unrevoked, we were rooting via ADB and one of the things we pushed to the phone was Busybox. I just kinda figured Unrevoked pushed it to the card as part of the rooting process? I'm not even positive if it's critical but it's certainly necessary for Titanium at minimum. Maybe that's the only reason they wanted it there in the first place...figuring most people would need it for certain apps? But does Clockwork need it? That is the question I'd be interested in. And if so, does Z4 drop it on the card upon install?
Anyway, I'm not sure why I'm still posting in this one so good luck.

So I read the troubleshooting section in the market for Rom manager app. Is says for HTC users try fastbooting on recovery if we are having trouble flashing clockwork. How do I do this?

oh wow... thats awsome! The root gods decided to open the heavens and grant me some much needed grace. I flashed clockwork probably 10times reported into recovery and it worked! I immediately installed unrevoked forever and now have s-off. I checked. What's my next step?
