IMPORTANT: HUGE update to AndroidForums.com

OK maybe it's partly me not knowing how to use the new app, but:
1) I can't tell what's read vs stuff I've never read, it all looks the same & I'd expect unread stuff to be bold or a different color or something.
2) I used to subscribe to the Google Fi thread but unsubscribed because it showed empty. On my phone, I have the Google Fi app so I added it as a forum; the new app tells me it's empty.
3) My Stuff has only 1 thread in it, I'm pretty sure there should be more there.

All the new app does is scan my phone apps and introduce me to a new uh, desktop?

No forums, no devices, no participated, subscribed forums etc. How does one look for a device on this app? It's just my phone apps and a couple of threads pertaining to the Android that I'm running? I don't get it....

Is there any way to restore devices and such to the older apk's so I can just keep using that?

FWIW, the unread watched list came back. I think they're just messin' with us to see if we're paying attention. ;)

I just pushed an app update, which fixed a bug regarding the watched and read threads. Thanks to you bring that issue to our attention, we investigated and the app was marking a thread read before you clicked a notification.

Not sure if that resolved your issues but figured I would let you know either way since your feedback helped us fix that confusing mess. So thanks!

Also with this update, I added pagination so you will now actually be able to read a thread :) The UI will be improved but wanted to at least get the functionality working.

Sony Xperia XZ. It was correctly ID'd by the app during installation but all I'm seeing is "My Device" when I open the app.

Update:

After installing the most recent update the app still displays "My Device", and posting to the forum/channel hasn't (as yet) made any difference.

The official Sony model numbers are F8331 (single SIM) and F8332 (dual SIM), in case it helps.

The channel is approved and I do see logs of you passing that channelId. Could you pull to refresh on the Channel tab and see if that updates the Channels correctly? If not, you can send me the db from settings and I can figure out what's going on.

I've learned so much from androidforums, but the new app roll-out has about pushed me away. I have both helped, at least tried, others and learned from many and most were not on the same devices as me.

I understand the site is doing what it can to accommodate both the users and the exponential growth, but at this time it is becoming unbearable to find information, help others, or even browse unless you are sitting in front of a computer.

I'm not going anywhere at the moment as these forums have given me too much knowledge to just turn and walk away, but the user experience since the new app launch has really gone downhill.

Just my thoughts.

What's the purpose of Timeline in the app? It seems to be a bunch of messages from different threads with no organization? o_O

My thoughts too.... I'm sure it will work great when they're done tweaking it. I can't get the new app to even install on my BlackBerry, so I had to roll back to the previous app. I can't access individual device forums on it now, but at least I still have all of my subscribed threads handy :)

I refuse to use an app. I have only used my PC to view AF. Now I have to go through several pages to find my forum and I am tired of doing that.

It was nice, but no longer.

No change, Steve.

If not, you can send me the db from settings and I can figure out what's going on.

An email with the db attached is on its way.

p.s. app FCs on both my Z3 (D6603) and Z3+ (E6553) once logged-in. Both devices are running Android 6.0.1. A reinstall did allow it to run for a few minutes on the Z3+, but when the app was closed and then reopened it FC'd immediately.

Currently the site shouldn't seem too different? Nonetheless a new theme is on the way. I agree, I prefer web/mobile over apps.

Once you're finished with the site, Tapatalk should straighten out.. Correct? [emoji24] No issues on any other site than AF but AF is my favorite place at the time

@stevealbright , I'm seeing FC with the latest app on both a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (nook) running 4.2.2 and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 running 5.1.1. Both FC on opening to timeline tab.
