Wow. I'm kinda shocked this thread is still going. I still hold my firm stance against unauthorized tethering despite all the arguments.

Wow...18gb last month mocruz? Thats rediculous...I don't think I've ever hit 5gb...but I am on wi-fi a lot of the time.

Thanks, I actually use my unlimited data plan!

Love it man ....gives a REAL perspective while still not offending open minded people
after reading my post i just want to throw out that what i meant by REAL had no regards to anyone who posts here or their opinions as we are all friends, i was referring to the world being so sugar coated in general and meant no disrespect to any of my friends in this community, i just wanted to clear the air on that if anyone thought thats what i meant:D

BV, while this sounds like a great cure-all for everything that's going on, I am left feeling like Verizon in no way would ever want to go to pure metered usage. I say this because while we here are mostly 'power-users', the vast majority of those on Android phones likely never even get close to using over a gig of data. So on a purely metered plan Verizon would start to lose quite a bit of money.

Sure it's fair, not arguing that at all, it's just that they wouldn't make as much money on it unless they raised the price so that the average consumer would be paying what they're getting from us now. But then us power-users would have astrinomical bills. It's for this reason that I feel they should offer tiered plans to anyone who wants to tether. And unlimited to those who don't want to tether. But this will only work if they can figure out a way to disable tether completely. Which might not be possible.

So I guess we'll never have a completely fair choice of plans.

I don't think the impact would be that bad, my wife who is not a power user, uses more data than me in a month. She is streaming XM at her office on average a few hours a day. I also know a lot of women that I work with who have Pandora or Slacker going most of the day. I think some of the non power users may actually use more data because they are streaming music all day, while we are tinkering with ours all day and not using as much data. Just another way to look at it. Verizon actually has a cool tool on their site to see how much data you are projected to use, streaming movies is 1 followed by streaming auto a close second.

doin good bro, how are you?:)

I've been good too. Just working some more on GB, trying to invert the Settings Menu and the dialer so it's black instead of that light color (which I don't like), and making some more mods to BWC. I've had success on certain things, but others are driving me nuts.....lol

I know you've been disenchanted with the whole scene lately, I'm guessing that's why you haven't been on here so much lately.

Lol does sound like that don't it :D

I'm just messing with you, it's good to have a little fun around here (much better than the doom and gloom feeling that's been going on around here lately) :D:D:D

I think you're giving too much credit to the average smartphone user. I wouldn't think the average smartphone user streams music all day. That would entail either playing your phone out loud in the work place, which would be very rude (especially if everyone were doing it). Or putting on headphones, which most work places don't allow.

I did a Google, and the highest average I came across was this...

Verizon Smartphone Users Consume The Most Data - 421 MB per month average, versus 338 MB for iPhones | DSLReports.com, ISP Information

... which indicates that the average Verizon smartphone customer doesn't even consume half a gig of data. Right now everyone on a Verizon smartphone is paying for unlimited data. That means that we're in essence paying for around 5 gigs of data since that is their projected cap for data. So if they want to sell 5 gigs for $30 bucks and they went to metering, the average user would only be paying $3 bucks for their data consumed.

Obviously Verizon is in no hurry to lose an average of $27 bucks per customer by going to metered use. Which is why I don't believe they would ever consider it, even though it would be the best, most honest way of doing it.

you know....while this whole thread has gone completely bonkers....i gotta throw in another off topic;
ive spent a bit of time jacking around some other forums: there really arent any like the dx root section here. and the mods at other places are real a$$hats.

with out a doubt the mods here (and especially steven) make this a good place to hang....
(and of course the members).

anyway, just wanted to throw that out. :)

OUCH... God damn it, who threw that.... Oh, it's you eh.... well thanks a lot FABER!!!

Hit me right in the back of my head, and I was TRYING to sleep!

Mods, please give Faber an infraction for throwing things. That should be worth at least 5 points! He's lucky it wasn't sharp, or I'd be dead right now!
