Root is anyone trying a work around for the bootloader

Also there's a bounty for whoever unlocks the 4X bootloader:

I think if someone unlocks it on that device, it can be done on this one too :D

Edit: of course plasticarmyman already posted there

Edit2: I just got my 10 posts on xda :p took me 2 years

Edit3: If you signed the partition to unlock the bootloader, you got an e-mail to the link above.

Edit4: I get likes and thanks for posting stuff in your e-mail??? confused, but I'll take it

Is the recovery locked??? I don't think it is if people are now partially booting cwm
Recovery and boot are signed. We cannot flash anything to that partition or boot partition or we get bufu. /system isn't signed hence why we get root. Dexter's method of bootstrapping CWM places raw ramdisk of recovery in /system and second init passes boot to it. Not the most elegant way but it's a start. Unless LG graces us with an unlock (yeah right) or their key gets "leaked" this is where we're at.

+1 and how moto's have been doing it for awhile now. The D2 & DX just used a bootstrap method for a long while that allowed use of cwm and flashing of custom stock based roms. Once 2init came around then they were able to flash CM* etc, but are still stock with the stock kernel.

Will be the same here.

Same thing with the CDMA Evo 3d if you use HTCs unlock tool but I think thats the case with most newer HTC phones because of their wonderful new boot loader and unlock tool

So wait, the Motion *could* get CM10? Just on stock kernel?

LG doesnt have any unlockers as of yet. ;)

LG just started this bs with ics. ;)

maybe!!!

I know LG doesnt have any unlockers yet, I was just saying HTCs unlocker isnt a "full" unlock method. it would be nice to get CM 10 on here, could be possible if jelly bean doesnt have a new kernel.

Ok, I'm reallllyyy going to buy this phone (Maybe not soon, but before the new year :D )
All because I want CM10 :D :D :D

i wouldnt waste teh money, assuming cwm does get patched and working. you are still gunna need someone to port cm, and mind you port it who can figure out how to make the 2nd init stuff work.

for cm yes, but stock modded roms still can be flashed (with cwm). The 2init and hijack stuff is way beyond me and not alot of documentation or information being shared for it.

right but cuz of your post now you have threads like this http://androidforums.com/motion-4g-all-things-root/640161-so-now-cwm-in-works.html where people are gunna just assume after cwm is working and finished (which is still up in the air?) someone will just have a cm10 zip for them to flash

I wouldn't blame PlayfulGod, he is trying to get it to work, and others are testing methods. Though, the person who started that thread doesn't even have a Motion yet... its kind of counter productive.

On a side note, I like how we all are working together for this, IMO its much better than just one person developing it.

cwm it still very much up in the air and will remain so til it actually works. lol

And I cant help it ppl assume things, they should know what ass u me does. ;)

And to clarify, I'm not working on CM9/10 for the Motion any time soon, if I ever do. I have too many projects going as it is. Helping get CWM going so others can take the ball and run with it. ;)

more than one working a a project is always a plus, but at the same time having ppl who dont really have clue messing with the most dangerous part of the dev process might be really counter productive. ;)

So when i used the adb reboot-bootloader command my phone rebooted as normal but now I have a red box constantly appearing on the outside of the screen.

go into Developer Options and uncheck everything that is under the User Interface section

i'm kinda proud of my analogy in that thread btw...

put the recovery in the motion update dot zip file and the flashing tool should install just like when use a real recovery that have a recovery update

Read from here down...

The update doesn't download as a zip... it doesn't even have an extension.
I uploaded what I found to that thread.

Sorry.. try
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B24utXxeypRadXIwbmdGMXY2QTg/preview

I just changed the sharing permissions.
(If that doesn't work, you can try removing 'preview' or replace it with 'edit')

Please Dont edit the file though. It came straight from my phone. No viruses, but Google will still prompt you. Hope that helps/works.

it do download as a dot zip this is not my file but this is the zip files and have some the same files as a custom rom just one file that do all the work i
