Root [Kernel][GB] H426 - BDTweaks now on Google Play (06/24/13)

but there is not any cm9 stable port for the lg marquee right
i havent found one yet.
and if i already flashed ctmod with gingerbread i can flash the hyper kernel afterwards without any problems

the CM9 port is stable, theres only a couple bugs. and like I said bro, if your on the latest CTMod you already have the latest kernel for GB. if your on a earlier version of CT you can flash the GB kernel.

No you can't. I would suggest flashing CM9 along with Blood's Hyper Kernel. I was on the fence about it but am glad I flashed. Can't go back to gingerbread now :)
 
Blood, I know there was a problem with one of the earlier versions breaking 3G in GB. Could this be the issue that me and one other are having with the ICS version? If not, any ideas why I now have no 3G?

Although the cm9 port for the marquee is still in alpha form it is pretty stable. Cm9 + bloods hyper ics 2.2 kernel is very stable so far. The only thing not working correctly that I've noticed is mms(boost only) and the camera's
 
Blood, not sure if this is the rom or the kernel but when today i did some benchmarks and cranked it to 1.4 and performance, after which i returned to 1.2 and smartassV2. It seemed to stick, but every time I've gone into my settings it has gone back up to 1.4 for max. I've rebooted a few times and its happened again after that. Let me know if there is more info i can get you on anything

Are you running Voltage Control? If so, wipe your saved boot settings and reset then to something lower.

the kernel always sets it to 1000/300/ondemand during the boot so something on your phone keeps changing it to 1.4.

I knew it was setting on boot, the problem is when i rebooted it would still go to 1.2, what i had it at last, then in some random amount of time sneak back up to 1.4




Are you running Voltage Control? If so, wipe your saved boot settings and reset then to something lower.

I use system tuner pro primarily but still cleared my on boot settings and will cruise with it. Didn't even think the about it that the boot settings might have been causing the problem, thanks guys!
 
so whats a good cm9 link-port. xda seems to have deleted or moved theirs. I'm gonna try the ICS with hyper kernel 2.2v. It's amazing the hyper kernel with GB. you did a amazing job things install quicker than i can snap my fingers.

Yeah, you might wanna try the CM9 here. As far as I know it's the only 1 that works on the Marquee. There was nothing at XDA that would work on the Marquee from what I saw. lol:D:p
 
From having run Nenamark 1 & 2, Neocore(I know this isn't a qualcomm SoC), AnTuTu and Quadrant with this kernel on stock ZVC and CTMod I can say that the 300MHz GPU overclock does not increase numbers. I get lower 3D numbers even at 1.36GHz in all the above mentioned benchmarks. This 300MHz overlock has pushed my battery temps sitting in a house that stays at 68F from around high 90s to 110+! Not to mention I get better numbers in all those benchmarks suites with the GPU stock and CPU @ 1.2GHz full voltage or 1.3GHz undervolted. Beings there is not way for us everyday folks to control the GPU short of a recompile would you please put a version up that doesn't have the GPU overclocked. I've also considered using this thing as a second toaster oven but figured this post would be less likely to get lithium in my hot pockets. :rolleyes:

PS Broke my market in stock ZVC even after a master reset and permissions fix.

I may keep the GPU overclock, or I may not. but if your phone is getting hot the GPU isn't the cause, specially if its hot while your not even using/charging the phone.

I almost pissed myself from laughter when I read this. But question for you blood, I read some where that there is a way to add controllable voltage to the kernel source, do you think this might help anything? If it can be done.

I must thank you for your work on this kernel and taking the time to reply foremost. I didn't wanna introduce myself in your thread concerning your donation based work with a difference of opinion while tossing names around... it's all outdated anyway. So, stock ZVC pre-rooted running either ndos 3D Unleashed 1.2GHz or 1.3Ghz undervolt gave me about the same 3D numbers across the board. This was even after a reflash. CTMod 3.68 gives me a slight increase averaging around 8% in various benchmarking suites when it comes to both 2D and 3D.

Your work is amazing as it stands though, if not to much trouble I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a bad idea to make a kernel with the GPU at regular frequency to get an idea how much battery life we're shelling out for a 9ish% increase in graphics performance. I've heard elsewhere the SGX540 is underclocked in several handsets I can't recall off tip me brain but, when people started ramping the 540 clock back to specs they were seeing a 10% performance boost with a; much higher battery toll then acceptable. I am quite aware the 530 we have is a rather different chip then the 540. That being said seems as though Imagination Tech has a habit of crippling the bus of the 5 series PowerVRs. I.E. doesn't matter how fast you can run if you have hamster lungs cause you'll be starved for oxygen.

Bottom line is I'm wondering if we're paying to much battery for performance.

PS I'm not asking so much for a personal favor as I'm interested in exploring whether the GPU over clock is worth the boost we're getting. Constructive critisism is the foundation of growth. I very well may be wrong and the 8 to 9% increase may be taking little battery. I don't think I'd want to add that feature lol. I have each frequency undervolted by 50 already, which is about as low as you can go and stay stable and omap uses SmartReflex which does some automatic undervolting.

chances are if people could change it someone would end up setting it too low and have bad lag or the phone won't wake up from sleep, or they'd set it too high and fry it.

I might do one without the gpu overclocked. I gotta build a new kernel for GB with zcache disabled anyway since I think it ends up freezing the phone after a day or 2.

Just don't expect the phone to be any less hot tho lol.

My Marquee is more of a pocket rocket, not so much a pocket toaster. :D
Seriously though, I haven't really had heat issues with mine since I adjusted my clock speeds and governors. Great work Blood.

You're right... "Gotta pay to play." "If you can't stand the heat get the CPU outta the kitchen."

Been doing some more benching, CPU clock changing and reading. You all are right. Anything under 1.3GHz cools the thing down gobs! Also, I love using Blood's work. As far as the GPU, I feel I'm right. Something to consider is a BIG difference between Gingerbread and ICS. ALL 2D and 3D is handed to the GPU by ICS while Gingerbread keeps most 2D load on the CPU. Considering the amount of time the GPU is actually active outside a game in Gingerbread it would be a waste of time to turn the GPU down less it is found to directly effect stability.

The SGX530 used to operate at 110MHz before the lithography change from 65nm to 45nm in the 3 series. There has been refinement and testing that have allowed the 3630 CPU to be clocked to 1.2GHz from the 800MHz it ran at initially in the first SoCs after the die shrink. Many of those refinements center around die production from my reading. This may give the GPU the ability to run at higher then stock speeds stably.

After getting my smarticles on I've realized that the GPU clock will have much less impact on everyday phone performance until ICS is dumping all the rendering both 3 and 2D on the GPU. If I didn't have to use my phone daily I would probably be using an ICS alpha with Hyper2.2 right now, happily dumping logcats. Till it gets to a point I can use it more reliably I must have a phone I can depend on. All this GPU junk will make a MUCH BIGGER impact in ICS then in Gingerbread. My question now is, why waste more time tweaking on the GPU for GB less it directly impacts stability? ICS will be the real test for what 100MHz does to the performance and energy consumption of the SGX530. BTW, I get slightly higher 2D numbers with this Hyper2.0 @1.3GHz then ndos 3D unleashed at 1.2GHz(non-undervolted). I'm not downing your work at all Blood. I do now have a free pocket warmer for the winter. I'll just have to overlock past 1300MHz and download a CPU wake lock app. :D

If the bus is the bottle neck in the 530 as it is in the 540 we might be able to run the 530 at 450Mhz but it will hardly make ANY difference. Especially compared to the same performance boost the CPU would get from that much more clock. This SoC is VERY good in the way it handles RAM. Look at the RAM scores in any benchmark against phones like the Atrix 4G. The Tegra doesn't handle RAM as well as the 3630 is known to.
 
I have an LG Marquee that was running CTMod 3.68 with HyperKernal 2.0. It was runnig well, then I downloaded the HyperKernal 2.2 for ICS through GooManager and then flashed it through recovery and then rebooted. My LG Marquee is now stuck in a boot loop at the LG logo. I cannot get into recovery or debug mode. Help!!!!!!!

It was runnig well, then I downloaded the HyperKernal 2.2 for ICS through GooManager and then flashed it through recovery and then rebooted. My LG Marquee is now stuck in a boot loop at the LG logo. The ICS kernel will not work with Gingerbread. You need Hyper kernel 2.0 for CTMod. 2.2 is for ICS,CM9 and AOKP only.
