Root [Kernel][GB] KoumaKernel 2.5

Now it says no such file

screenshot-1338065901402.png

OP seems to imply ctmod 3.5 and up come with koumamod.apk 1.5

btw.

zip to delete old apk and install 1.5 on /system/app with proper permissions would be s00p3r. then folks don't need to read my 20 step tutorial to move one file from one directory to other lol. or even have to worry about anything other than flashing CTmod then install Fixdater™ zip (you know you like my new term for this kind of update fix zip)

try su first.
should change the prompt to # and give you super user rights

Worked and got the backup, But it boot looped during restore

So poke fun, slap me, etc... Ive had it with this phone for the last week or so. I need my temporary sanity back.

So what Kernel version do I need to use to be able to use Darktremor's A2SD? I just cant take any more right now. This phone almost met a brick wall several times. Ive been in CWM more times than I want in the last week. I just need to take a break

no darktremor. use the koumamod.apk that's on the kouma kernel thread. gotta download the apk and install over existing one on ctmod.if first setting up better to start fresh no restore.

flash ctmod. flash formatter zip. boot. ctmod settings-koumamod click save on SSM. reboot recovery and wipe data/dalvik. boot. install new koumamod.apk. reboot. flash dalvik formatter zip. reboot. go to koumamod and click save on SSM again. reboot. if that don't work then you can throw against brick wall

that for SSM. if you want data your on your own cuz Swype pissing me off

Yes Sir I want Darktremor. Did all that stuff above over and over etc. I only have the phone so i cant do a 2nd partition for SSM. I have the Apps on the partition and the Dalvik is killing the internal memory to the point that Im getting low memory warnings non-stop. Wiping the Dalvik cache doesnt help any.

I tried the terminal emulator to fix my problems as Kouma directed me to do so and after some issues i got it to work. I got the backup for apps and was able to restore them, but although they did show up the phone was boot looping between lockscreen/home screen/black screen.... all all over again. Ive had it for now.

What KK can I use to be able to use the Darktremor A2SD app? Anyone? lol....

That way I can get the Apps and the Dalvik all on the 1 partition and keep all my stuff active and have the phone work for now.

Simple temp/perm solution...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD

Moves apps (and dalvik if you choose) to your sdext. :)

uummmm.... I made dalvik partition from phone. I've never tried with terminal before. just partition in cwm. choose size of partition and then biggest size swap partition you can. think it only 512 but I got 140 apps (including system) and still got plenty space. the formatter zip turn swap partition into ext4.

takes like 3 min just cuz u gotta wait for cwm to make partitions. after you got partitions just put zips on sd, flash ctmod then formatter and do all that.

is nobody aware you can make dalvik partition in cwm? I didn't know bout terminal way till like last week lol

Without a computer... I would be hesitant too. Partitioning wipes your sd card. Not everyone is willing to do that... I know i would not, if i had no way to back up those files. Some pictures i took in my travels are not replaceable. i would lose that, any ROM i downloaded. All my kernels. 5GB of music... Etc...
If the sdcard contents are a non issue. Then when you make a 'swap' partition, you can format it from swap to ext4. (using kouma's zip)

OK, Im sorry I meant a 3rd partition. I have the partition for Apps already. But on SSM with one partition it will keep your Dalvik on Internal. Thats where my problem begins. (I commonly refer to the partition as the "partition" and the 3rd partition as the "2nd partition" My brain doesnt recongnize the main section of the SD card as a partition... Im just funny like that lol)

I used the termianl emulator because when i went to Data setting the phone would not accept a SD-ext restore. To start fresh is impossible. When I switch to Data the phone is so damn slow your jaw would drop. it takes over an hour just to log in market, retrieve contacts and even think about downloading the first app. Even with WiFi it takes nearly 30mins or so of trying to download just one app. you click settings, text, contacts or anything like that and it takes 30 secs to maybe 2 minutes to open. its just insane. So I used the terminal to create a backup and it worked and it restored the Apps themselves but caused the boot looping.

And sorry for the confusion but yes I use CWM for the Partition, Its the only way I know of. But for another partition for the dalvik to be able to use the reall SSM method I need a computer for ADB shell.... So I 've heard.

READ WHAT I'M SAYING.

I MADE 3 PARTITIONS IN CWM

1 FOR SD STORAGE

1 FOR APPS

1 FOR DALVIK

IF YOU NEED MORE THAN THAT THEN YOU ARE CORRECT YOU NEED A COMPUTER.

and doesn't terminal way wipe card anyways? so there no difference.

but ya.

I used cwm

apps are external

dalvik is external

got 32mb swapfile on internal with data and still got over 30 mb free

once again

cwm
make
3
partitions

RTLflat - I just did what you said above:

1)Ran SSM: 11836MB-fat32/2048MB-ext2/2048MB-swap [booted-up]
2)Flashed CTMod 3.6 [booted-up]
3)Flashed SD2EXT4.zip [booted-up]
4)CTMod-Koumamod clicked save on SSM [booted to recovery]
5)Wiped Data/Factory Reset -then advanced- Wiped Dalvik Cache [booted-up]
6)Deleted koumamod.apk -moved new Koumamod1_5.apk/changed permissions [booted-up]
7)Flashed SSM_Wipe_Dalvik.zip [booted-up]
8)CTMod-Koumamod clicked save on SSM [booted-up]

Now I have to browse for the Swap paths/sizes, and there are 2 boxes, but I dont know where to put them.

I'm stuck here at this point.

i did read the tutorial but not sure where to put them or how big to make them according to my partitions, what would you do in my case?

depends on your space

I got class 10 card but internal still faster so I put 32mb swapfile in /data/swap (koumamod.apk calls it swapfile0 I think) priority 100

I hardly ever use all 32 but if I do it go to /data/app/swapfile0 which is 100mb and on mmcblk0p2 since it's with apps. I don't need it since first never full but it just backup overflow if it ever did. 16gb so it not like it killing my space.

I was gonna put in dalvik partition cuz that got so much space but realized it'd be killed every time I wipe dalvik

and 432....

don't need to boot between step 2 and 3 like you just posted. flash ctmod then install formatter with no reboot. just make sure you mounting every thing from mount menu before and after every task you do. I don't think it's necessary cuz zips should mount what it need mounted when you flash then unmount but I do anyways just out of habit. don't hurt and maybe help idk. I'm a man of many mounts. a mount'n of a man.maybe even a mounty

I'm not understanding this. Believe im tryin. I get the swap, what its for, the overflow, but setting it up is confusing me within the koumamod. If I made a 2048MB partition for swap in my ssm setup, how do i browse for that partition to put it there. what;s it called? And do I make a 2nd one or no, I mean I setup 3 partitions. I'm not sure I'm understanding it. I'll have to check out more and come back. I'm going according to what I already thought was going on in my last setup.
