Root [Kernel][Linaro][O/C][GPL][31 JAN] A-kernel v3.3-r9-fix JB

I agree it does run quite well though. Why not make it run even BETTER? Haha! And yes touchwiz isnt the best and cm would be cool. Is it easier to get on Jb compared to ics?

Wait what was the question again? Is what easier?
You are talking about CM, right?

Basically whatever CM version correlating to the version of Android currently running on the device is easiest to get up running on the device- from what I've read.
So before the JB update, CM9 would of been easiest, and now that we have JB, hopefully it won't be to hard for us to get CM10+ running. But definitely will be easier then it was before the JB update.

Don't get your hopes up until I start working on it and if I make progress, though. This is my first time doing such things and it's not easy. But the OUDHS team -and others in their IRC chat - are very helpful and a great resource, if not overused :-)
But you all knew that already.

Alright guys and gals. First JB build:

I finally played with the voltages and lowered them. It's running nice and stable and maybe even cooler. All IO Schedulers and CPU gov's are there and I went up to 1.6 GHZ on this one.

Built with the latest Linaro GCC 2013.05- 4.7.4 tool-chain with optimization's for our chip.

In case anyone wants info on what the governors do, here is a list of governors and their purpose

And some info on io schedulers

PS, first impressions: phone is MUCH snappier. Will report if anything changes

Edit - I know benchmarks don't meant much but here's my initial two tests:

I'm noticing we're capped at just below 40fps. (Or at least I am)

Handy little before and after. No tweaking done.

Looks like the new voltages are doing well :-)
I'm noticing very good response on the UI now and it's not getting hot at all.

Give it time to settle and let me know how heat and such is doing.
Should notice a small bump in battery life with the lower voltages as well.

Loving having JB on here now!

Thanks LordVincet. I've been meaning to link to something with that info forever.

I'll see if I can raise the FPS cap. I'm thinking they capped it for battery life purposes. Higher FPS translates to lower battery life, blah, blah.

feel free to link them in the op. always good info to have. :)

And I'm not one to normally make requests, but any chance of adding the interactiveX governor to a future build? It just happens to be my preferred governor :)

I have a question I should have asked before, because I make it mandatory on all my devices, for some reason, idk

Back when I had my rise, a member said something about going to system/lib/egl and to delete the first line in the egl.cfg. and it should speed up device a little (noticeable), I believe he said it had to do with adreno and the gpu, Idk, have any of you heard anything along them lines.

I know, that when I changed the file, my lag wasn't that noticeable, but idk because I do so much to these phones I can't tell at times, but I do know one thing, this kernel is the s#!t, excuse my French, thank you so much for the kernel and all the work you do for our device and community

Sorry, im curious to know what is zram?

Basically swaps things to RAM first instead of internal storage.
RAM is like 100x faster then internal storage.

Just a really fast cache. Works best in small amounts like 32MB for our device. The more RAM there is the bigger zram cache you can have. But the more RAM you have the more it defeats the purpose of using zram because the more you have the less things get swapped to internal storage.

It also saves on flash write cycles because it swaps to RAM instead.
Here's a more thorough definition: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZRam

Yeah bro works very nice.
Thanks again for this work of art.

For anyone that wants to complain about battery problems, just leave.
The price of over clocking is most of the time faster battery drain.
So you should know what you are doing.
It isn't animanias responsibility , it is solely yours.

I noticed that you had to make a whole new build for JB, Does this mean that all the other mods currently available too have to make new builds for JB, Specifically Rayquaza's mod?
