Root [Kernel]OptimusM OC stock 2.2.1

I dont know why but when I use adw the home screen dock just vanishes randomly. anyone else have this?

Try enabling Keep Home In Memory in Cyanogenmod's settings. I never had that issue, but I always turned that option on.

Are you using EX? If not, would you like a copy of mine for testing?

What version?
I was having similar issues with I believe v1.2.7 of ADW prior to the new kernel.
I finally broke down and actually purchased the latest version.

BTW: Reppard, you'll be happy to know that CardioTrainer crashes on my Nook, too, also with CM7. I don't think it has anything to do with your port at this point. :)

Good work, my friend. Everything's great on my Optimus now. ADW EX likely was causing all of my problems. Or, at least, all problems have ceased after removing it... :)

Good welcome to the world of stability! I went ahead and purchased adw ex 1.3.3 so I can do some testing with it. So far so good but ill keep you posted. I downloaded noon weight loss and it works for me with cm7 and adw. Maybe try updating the app?

The app works until you go to the Cardio Trainer portion of the app (center tab) and tap the big green Start Workout button. As soon as I touch Start Workout the app FCs on both my Optimus and Nook. I can use the weight loss plan and Calorific portions just fine.

To avoid confusion, this FC has never been an issue with ADW, it's a separate problem.

hmmm i dunno what is causing this, but I had some issues this past week with my ext partition. it would fail to mount at boot and would not mount until I deleted /data/.noa2sd

and sometimes it would happen again if I rebooted. after some other issues I just wiped everything, re-partitioned my sdcard, and reflased the rom and kernel. the first boot it would mount a2sd but after that it would put the .noa2sd in data.

i can only suppose that this was due to me not having any apps installed on the partition???

after i deleted that file and rebooted again i was "A OK"

I have xp and tried to root, but I'm having trouble because the new sdk is version 11 and I don't know what to put in at my command prompt.

I have the Sense ROM and everything works fine including wifi. DONT FLASH THE SIGNED ROM will not work at all, none of the buttons or screen will work. I had to remove battery and then NAND restore (Yea I didn't see that there was a flash for custom roms..). Now I just need to know.. what the heck do I have to do to overclock????

Oh, Ha I'm still a newbie at this^^^ xD forget that question, what app works fine to overclock for free???

Reppard, get this. IDK WTF is going on over here in my camp. But by doing some crazy rain dance, I am now able to use Noom Cardio Tracker on my Nook, still FCs on the Optimus.

So here's my work-around. My Nook only has WiFi and Bluetooth; it has no cellular data and no GPS. A shame, since it has such a beautiful screen that Maps and navi look beautiful on. Not to be deterred, I came across a post in the Nook section about GPS on the Nook. I discovered two programs that are now must-haves for my predicament, Wireless Tether and TetherGPS.

So I configured both apps on my Optimus and my Nook, then went out for a quick stroll. Much to my relief, Nook easily picked up my GPS location and painfully yet surely downloaded the data for the map over Metro's network. Elated, I thought "what the hell?" and loaded up Noom, and went to Cardio Trainer. I took a deep breath, and pressed the Start Workout button.

Guess what? No force close! Cardio Trainer instantly started plotting my course and calculating calorie burn. To test, I closed the GPS receive client and tried again. Bam! Force Close.

I don't know what's going on, but Cardio Trainer works great on the Nook when using a data and GPS tether. Chew on that one... LOL

W/e, I'm happy to be able to use Cardio Trainer again.

used http://db.tt/5oOyrHQ, as linked in the "reserved" post by OP. Running stock 2.2.1, rooted, using Custom Recovery for 2.2.1. Kernel works just fine, nothing acts funny at all, as long as I don't go over 768 MHz. Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, 1X, and phone signal/making calls all seem to work fine. No boot loops. Speeds beyond 768 for me personally have caused various crashes that only eventually triggered a normal reboot, after which I raced to jump into set cpu and lower the speed. I love how Custom Recovery, after saying "FIN!" to denote completion of installing the kernel, then says "If your phone boot loops, please throw it into a lake." lol...

for those of you with cardio trainer crashing.... did you turn off network location in android settings?

I've read (and reread) the thread. Somebody explain (one more time, please):

After I make a call (or receive a call) the screen goes black. Sometimes I can get back, sometimes I have to take the battery out.

It seems that others have fixed this, but I don't follow how.

Sorry to sound stupid.

Thanks,
Pete

I should have thought of this BEFORE installing the OC Kernel, and so I feel like a n00b having to ask. I'm currently running ok with the OC Kernel as described above. I have suffered a few freeze/crash/reboots but nothing serious. May lower the speed. Anyway, here's my question:

If I ever want to go back to the stock kernel, how do I do it? I did run a nand backup before flashing the OC kernel, but doesn't that just cover the rom? Basically I want to always be able to backtrack if I need or want to. So far I haven't found any .zip's of the stock kernel or anything. TIA.

You need to go into the cm settings- display( this is not the same as the main display settings) uncheck lock screen animations, actually uncheck both the screen animations options in that setting.

Your nand backup will get your phone back to the exact state it was in when you did the backup, that means it will not have the overclocked kernel.

SWEET! *whew* glad I got a quick reply on that. I tend to get paranoid, and I was thinking "what if what if what if......" even though the chances of me ever having to go to a metro pcs store or LG about software/hardware issues again are almost nil. also down the line if I sell the phone, I'll put it back to stock and let the next person worry about rooting/customizing so it can't come back on me if they screw it up lol.
