Root [Kernel]OptimusM OC stock 2.2.1

if you use setcpu it has a box you check mark to run at boot. DO NOT CHECK IT then if it is running too high it will simply reboot your phone, no harm no foul. You lower the setting and try again.
You can not hurt your phone this way. it will reboot not do damage.
AFTER you find the sweet spot, 768mhz seems to be it for the majority of phones you can check the box and everytime it reboots it will set to that spot and always run great.

Okay, so then it seems I can't do any damage at all and that is very good news for someone like me lol, thanks again to those who offered the insight, much appreciated.

just pushed reboot hoping it worked flawlessly, cuz if my phone bootloops i will not throw it in a lake lol,

TESTING NEEDED:
I have compiled this update to work on both Gingerbread and Froyo based roms BUT I need some testing from the community. I tested it on asadullah's metroslider51 rom as that was the only froyo rom I had on my sdcard at the moment and everything worked like a charm. I need people to test it on Sense UI rom and any others you guys use and report your findings! If this update works well then the kernel updates will continue in this fashion. I perfere the One Size Fits All approach rather than making an kernel update for every rom we have out there. Lemme know how it works guys.

OK tried this and at it worked on my LG Optimus M WITH sense ROM first try no bootloops no nothing now im stable at 768 MHz btw i used the ANY ROM versionTHANK YOU for this :P http://i51.tinypic.com/309srw4.png

So in reading this, is this only for cm7 or is this for 2.2.1 stock? I am wondering because I have 2.2.1 stock rooted, and really don't want to flash a rom if I am able to OC without doing so.
Thanks!

Update: My bad for not reading these other posts...I see the any rom version now!

Excellent stuff. OC Kernel is running on my CMod7 Optimus M just fine. Wiped /cache, /Dalvik-cache, and installed from recovery. No reboot issues, WiFi works great, as does USB Mass Storage Mode.

I guess I'm one of the lucky Optimus owners, as my phone OC'd to 844Mhz and stress tested that way for over an hour with no reboots. I backed it down to 806Mhz just to be safe, and stress tested it again with no reboots.

Thanks guys, for making this Opimus M a little bit more like Optimus Prime ;)

Lucky is an understatement. I would LOVE to go 844!!! => You've gotta run a quadrant score and show it off in my quadrant score thread: http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-all-things-root/362193-lg-optimus-m-quadrant-score-thread.html

Great idea: We don't have just any optimus. We have the Optimus priMe. :D

As mentioned previously in the thread, SetCPU's stress test does nothing, lol. It's better to use real world applications to stress your phone like higher end games or multiple applications at once. I can stress test at 806 just fine. I can't launch my games or more than 2 apps at anything above 768.

I flashed the kernel and im stuck in a red lg boot logo and it does not seem to boot up or anything :/ please help i'm a noob at this :[

When you OC, do it in steps from the bottom up. Most importantly, make sure the "Set on Boot" option is NOT checked. If you enable this option before finding a stable speed, you'll be stuck in a boot loop. Also, there is the chance of getting a CPU that cannot OC at all so you'll have to stay at 600MHz.

thanks a lot and i just flashed my first rom (sense rom) onto my phone and now it can oc and thank you for the advice darnell can i pm you if i have further questions?

Sure, feel free to. However, do note that I'm not using joneidy's Sense ROM, so I may not be able to help with any questions specific to the ROM :).

This worked perfectly on the CMod of yours man. Thanks a bunch. PSX on the Optimus actually is playable. Not at 60fps ALL the time, but close enough!

Hi guys, running at a 864 MHz interactive scaling. no reboots, closed programs, etc. So far so good. lol Setcpu short bench score 304.0.

I appreciate the opinion, but its been a few months now and I'm still running at 806Mhz with no reboots. Opening Market, Facebook, Twitter, Astro, YouTube, Opera, Go Launcher EX, Go Weather, and all the default Android services, and my phone rocks out all day with maybe one or two force closes. Usually repairing permissions via ADB will fix that. Also, rebooting the phone manually once a day seems to keep it working pretty smoothly.

Been a while since I thought about this thread. I was happy with the way my phone was running, so I left it alone and forgot about it. Teh_Dude, I'd be happy to bump up to what I had originally and show off a bit. ;)

UPDATE:
This version works with any rom and wifi modules were compiled separately so wifi works right out of the box.

Lower set CPU Max Version, people with boot loops test this update
Max set to 729600(i can go lower if needed) and default governor is ondemand.

In compliance with GPL, here is the source:
r.O.C.K-v0.3-Source

Battery Calibration install this and let your battery fully charge. The run the app, unplug the charger and calibrate. This should be done after flashing a new rom or kernel.

All i understand from this is that this is supposed to fix my wifi connection problems. I recently flashed the cm7.1, and then flashed this with no difference in fixing my wifi. Yes i wiped the caches. What does "in compliance with the GPL" mean, like do i need to download the source code too? And one last question, whats "MD5 Sum"?

I don't have an answer for your WiFi problems, but to your last questions, no you don't need to download the source code. Here's a link to tell you all about the GPL: The GNU General Public License v3.0 - GNU Project - Free Software Foundation (FSF) Basically he's complying with the license agreement by providing the source code for anyone who wants it--part of the whole free software thing.

As to MD5 checksums, here's a thread that ought to give you a general gist of things: http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/138831-verify-your-files-md5-checksums.html

Basically, you can take the MD5 checksum (sum) he gives you, and find a way to verify it--this is supposed to tell you basically that he's giving you legit stuff/at least presenting it honestly to you, and not just offering malicious BS.
