Root [Kernel][Sense][HDMwIn]Evo 4g Freedom-v0.9.5 Kernel GB MR 2.6.35.10 - xda-developers

no wiping of data is involved. you just wipe dalvik cache and cache. so go for it. on it now. hard to say the difference yet as i just flash this a few hours ago. will have to see what tomorrow brings.

Yes, wipe davlik/cache. I've done this and got into the state I mentioned earlier with certain apps being non-functional and my system cache being down to nearly nothing.

Ok I'm running Synergy RLS1 rom, with the freedom kernel and is there anything special I need to do for better battery life? And also did i do something wrong because now i have no 4g or wireless Please help I'm two seconds from throwing my phone from the top of Signal Hill.

do you have your wimax keys? download wimax rsa keychecker. and if you do then try and wipe again and re-flash your rom again. or you can try a different rom. try mikg2.45. i love that rom.

Wimax keys are there I'm going to re-flash now if that doesn't work mikg it is thanks

I had a 4g issue on v0.8 stock yesterday (stock rom)... it worked temporarily, but would toggle off and default to 3g after a few minutes.

I went back to the stock kernel for now, but I will def check out freedom again in the near future.

I switched RLS1 with Godmode whatever that is and Im using freedom kernel with Godmode and just checked everything and so far everything is good. You might want to try that

or you can try and wipe dalvik cache and cache and see if that helps. i doubt that it is the kernel that caused it. i'm on the aggressive fredom .85 kernel with no issues.

How is your battery life with the aggressive I'm looking the perfect combo for battery life I'm very heavy user during the day at work video music etc. Need it to last during that and part of the night

Does anyone have a link for the stock kernel?

I noticed with running .8 Less that if I load up Set CPU and watch my frequency, it will stay at 245 and then maybe every 5-7 seconds it will jump to 998 and then go right back down. Is it normal for this to happen? It seems like my battery is great when my screen is idling with this kernel, but with the screen on, my battery life is just not very good at all. Just trying to figure out why. I haven't tried Golden Monkey yet, and I haven't tried stock yet either since being rooted. Maybe they would fare better.

try the new set of kernels .85. they have havs now except they are: aggressive freedom, more freedom, less freedom and freedom. try one of those out. i'm using the aggressive freedom and so far so good. i just flash this yesterday afternoon so we will see tonight and tomorrow how i like it or not. but so far so good.

so far so good, but kernels are picky . it is always YRMV. give it a try for a few days and see. if not then try the next level and so forth. always make a nandroid that way you can go back if you want.

.8 had havs too right? I was running less but I just installed .85 more so we'll see how it goes.

new freedom kernel is out. it has hmwin support!!!!!!!
v0.9

Added HDMwIn port
Lowered Less, More, and Aggressive voltages by 25
Added TUN to kernel
Removed call recording
Tweaked the voltages for OC frequencies
Compass updates (barnacles10)

I am curious to see everyone's results using the new v0.9 kernel. The voltages were dropped by another 25mv. I would like to see how stable the different versions run. Hopefully everyone will post back their results here.

the only thing is that kernels will react differently on different phones. so what works for me may not work for you. my suggestion is to try it out. so far so good with this version. i'm on the more freedom .9 kernel. yesterday battery life was around 16hrs with moderate usage.

Like ocn says, it's different for everyone..

I have far better battery life on v0.8.5

I am a very heavy user. I gave them both time to settle and 0.8.5 got at least 5-8 more hours.

So I just flash .9 and I have a question...what do the different governors represent? I mean I know what ondemand is (it is what I used on goldenmonkey 1.1 and by playing around I figured out what powersave did but what about interaactiveZ, performance (which I am using now) and smartass? I know I saw this in one of the guides but I couldnt seem to find it again :(

Thanks in advance, and I wont lie this thing is running ridiculous right now. I can even run it at 1113 mhz without a bootloop  And I havent even rerun the supercharger script yet...how fast will it be then?!?!? :D

the governors basically control how fast the max and min(that you set) will get to its designed setting.

interactive x basically keeps the cpu scaled up to the max and min much faster and more consistently then the other governors. the time to reach the settings is not gradual.

smartass governor is very similar to onedemand except that it has its own screen off profile.

7. CPU Scaling Governors
CPU governors control exactly how the CPU scales between your "max" and "min" set frequencies. Most kernels have "ondemand" and "performance." The availability

  • ondemand - Available in most kernels, and the default governor in most kernels. When the CPU load reaches a certain point (see "up threshold" in Advanced Settings), ondemand will rapidly scale the CPU up to meet demand, then gradually scale the CPU down when it isn't needed.
  • conservative - Available in some kernels. It is similar to the ondemand governor, but will scale the CPU up more gradually to better fit demand. Conservative provides a less responsive experience than ondemand, but can save battery.
  • performance - Available in most kernels. It will keep the CPU running at the "max" set value at all times. This is a bit more efficient than simply setting "max" and "min" to the same value and using ondemand because the system will not waste resources scanning for the CPU load. This governor is recommended for stable benchmarking.
  • powersave - Available in some kernels. It will keep the CPU running at the "min" set value at all times.
  • userspace- A method for controlling the CPU speed that isn't currently used by SetCPU. For best results, do not use the userspace governor.

So far so good on battery life...no worse than ondemand was on GoldenMonkey as far as I can tell (and to be honest it seems to be better) and it doesnt bootloop when I go over 900mhz. I will keep an eye on it though over the next few days see if I notice a trend :)

Ok I'm running Synergy RLS1 rom, with the freedom kernel and is there anything special I need to do for better battery life? And also did i do something wrong because now i have no 4g or wireless Please help I'm two seconds from throwing my phone from the top of Signal Hill.
Running Synergy RLS1 w/ Godmode, I also lost wifi and 4g. Wifi continually scans and finds routers, but cannot connect and goes right back to scanning. Wimax keys are intact. Wiped cache & dalvik, reflashed, same result. Restored to stock kernel, all is well (other than cannot OC).

Edit: Correction, all is not well, Houston we have a problem. Wifi and 4g appear to be on indefinite vacation. Tried a full wipe and restore, no luck. Guess I'll have to wipe and flash another ROM next. On the plus side, I'm still a long way from throwing the phone off of a cliff.
