Let's see your "Incredible" layout (Pun intended)

Updated the Launcherpro+ icons and I think it looks awesome, good call on the color change jbdan

EDIT: Looks like the borders of the icons aren't too clear, but they are the same green color as the rest of the text. Very clear on the phone itself.

@SecretSexyNinja
Ya, fantastic. I want to create really interesting layouts as well....I just lost patience in modding my phone. It takes so damn long to setup something like that. Bunch of photoshop and trial n error. After I few hours, I always feel like I'm wasting my day and give up.

I can see it very well on my monitor this completed the look imo awesome!!

Wow secret that is absolutely incredible. I think that is the best and most creative homescreen I have seen on here. Im glad you go the Tasker / Minimalistic Text combo working properly. I understand the difficultly there. The only thing that I would change is that the right screen seems a bit cluttered compared to the others but with that said it is much better than what I am about to put on here. THAT LAYOUT IS AMAZING! Especially for a first one. Outdoes me by a mile.

I must say it looks like my creative juices were not flowing much for this layout unlike some peoples (secretsexyninja). I am a bit ashamed to post after that but here is my current one.

Lockscreen:
Widget Locker
Minimalistic Text - Battery %
Beautiful Widgets - days weather
Unread SMS Count - well speaks for itself

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

homescreen:
ADW EX
Minimalistic Text - Battery %
Beautiful Widget - days weather
Make your Clock - time and day of the week
Unread SMS Count - displays missed info as well as opens gmail, phone, go sms
Search Icon - opens app drawer

Wow, thanks everyone!! Glad you guys all liked it. I'd just seen so many themes here that it really inspired me. Plus I couldn't have done it without reading the wealth of information on this page and at XDA.

As far as the layout goes, yea the right side is a little bit cluttered, I can definitely see that. It has been bugging me a little after using it for a few days. Doesn't flow as well with the other two. Not horrible, but could be better. I'm going to be trying a few other ideas with that 3rd screen before I build a new one.

Anybody have any idea for putting something on the wall or similar on this one? I'll be working on something but am open to any other thoughts too.

Otherwise, I have to say that it all feels very intuitive. I was afraid I might be mis clicking or hesitating or taking a long time to do things without any icons but it's been pretty great. I hope to be making another one when I have some more free time. This weekend has been a little crazy for me though. I already have an idea for the next one too!

@BlankDEP I kind of like the color in the three icons vs changing them. If you find having them more coordinated works better then ya go for it! The updated ones dont look bad either

@jbdan haha thanks, I definitely cant wait to see what you come up with!

@Stupifier, yeah getting it set up in photoshop and then having to transfer it to your phone and then re edit and do it again.... and again.. and again.. haha definitely know what you mean. It's also why I want to create some templates so I can pretty much just work in PS (now that I kind of have an idea with what works or not) without having to constantly upload it to my phone to see if its lining up, etc.

SSN, fantastic job! Just a week or so ago, before the paint even dried on my newest layout, I was thinking of doing something similar, only with photos of the inside of my own house. But the work it would require, the time...I bagged it. Great to see someone not as lazy as I am getting it done! And thank you for the "invisible" thing. I use a blank .gif for an app drawer launcher. I don't know why I didn't think of doing the same thing with Desktop Visualizer. Good luck shoring up your project and getting it to a place that YOU love and are satisfied with.

p.s. And I'm guessing that with your name and avatar there, you are not a "dude" or a "man" at all, but a female. A "she/her"! :D

Everyone has great setups. Been browsing this for a bit. Cant wait to get my incredible so I can try my hand at this. Any tutorial sites to teach you how to do all this custom stuff?

A slow day, I spit this out in a few hours. It's narcissistic and weird, but really, isn't it all about me anyway? :D Seriously though, a stalker/fan of mine should have this layout, NOT me.

The photos were coolified with an app called ToonPaint. Deeefinitely worth a couple of bucks. New widget additions: TxMissed and ExtCountdown.

I could have left one of my setups on there for ya bud, haha. There really isn't a tutorial, unless you're trying to do a W7 theme like Paulm or maybe (not 100% sure) one's like OhMyHead likes to post. If you want to make a setup just like the one John Doe made I'd just ask him or look at what he's using and go from there. Word to the wise, it's very addicting! I recently just downloaded the Android SDK just so I could post screenies in the Thunderbolt section, haha :o

EDIT: After seeing your site history there, you're no n00b to this stuff, right? And at least what *I* do isn't Incredible-specific. My phone is not rooted and as far as I know, just about everything I've been doing can be done on any Android phone. And here's what I wrote before I saw you know your way around a phone and a board...

Yes, VERY addicting! And when you post something and no one comments on it? Boom! There you are wrecking your phone and racking your brain for something new. Like now for instance. My phone looks like it has been in a horrible accident. :D So I'll drink a few Monsters today and hopefully something will come to me before my heart explodes.

Tutorials? When I saw Paul's W7 theme, I poured through the VERY informative posts associated with that and learned what to do. As for the other themes I've been doing, If I find a tutorial too complicated, like the How To Make WidgetLocker Theme for example, sometimes I'll grab someone else's stuff, then just crack it open and change the graphics inside (to something not as aesthetically pleasing), zip it back up, and install. There are tutorials galore on boards just like this one that will teach you everything you need to know...except how to make that graphic in your head a reality. Photoshop/Paint Shop Pro stuff can take years of practice. But then there are tons of tutorials on YouTube that are very helpful when learning those programs.

I also pay attention to the list of widgets and apps people list when they post their themes. If it looks cool or like something I could make work for MY mess, I hit the market, download it, and start experimenting. It's a time consuming thing this phone theme business. It's nothing like WindowBlinds where you say, "Ooh! That's cool!" And you doubleclick the one file and BAM! Your entire desktop and all the icons and wallpaper are different. I wish! So if you've got an important job or a nymphomaniacal girlfriend with a temper or you only have three months to live, I suggest finding a little less involved hobby.

Finally, it really IS addicting. It hit me almost overnight and now has me by the...there are no 12 step meetings for Layoutism (Not that 12 step programs work. At all.) But if you ever need help with something, feel free to send me a message and I'll see if I can help. Just keep in mind I'm brand new at this. And not that good at it, either. :D YET.

I always like how well your stuff flows together! Going to checkout toonpaint. I have done similar stuff in photoshop but its kinda a pain and takes a long time!

Just because....
Make Your Clock, minimalistic text (battery) and thats it. What can I say, anything else would just clutter that picture.

Seriously, SexyNinja - that's the effing tits.

Are you a graphic artist? Ever consider creating these for a fee?

Haha, thanks! Well, I used to design websites in high school and have done some work for bands and a couple of companies but haven't had much formal training. Hey, if someone would like something custom made for them and has an idea or general direction, I don't see anything wrong with trying to build them one.

I figure I'd just do the project for free and if they like it enough to pay for it, we'd go from there. I just have no idea what to charge.

btw, i anyone wants the layout I currently have I can see about putting up all the info / files for it? I mean you pretty much have the background already.

Here's my first real custom layout. I had an iPod Touch and had a blast customizing that layout, so I figured I should try on my new dinc.

This one was definitely inspired by suprafreak1000, although SecretSexyNinja's layout is awesome as well.
This is just my homescreen, I'm still working on the other two screens. I want to do something similar to what SSN did, but find a way to work in my audiogalaxy widget and widgetsoid (I'm thinking on top of a whiteboard or something?) I plan on the three screens being different rooms, we'll see if that works out.

homescreen.jpg

Clock is MIUI Analog Clock,
Date and weather is Minimalistic Text.
Apps button is actually a custom icon, I'll come back to that.
The little arrow next to it opens the dockbar with some key apps.
appbar.jpg

Apps button is just a custom icon that opens the App Drawer via Launcher Actions (I'm using ADW.Launcher), the arrow icon opens/closes the DockBar also via Launcher Actions.

Questions:
* For the Apps button, I tried using a minimalistic text widget and setting it to launch the app drawer via an activity launch when clicked, but the only launcher activity in the list is ADW Launcher, and it doesn't do anything. Is there a way to get the app drawer on that list of activities?
* If I have to use a custom icon, how can I get it so the text doesn't look all pixelated around the edges? I just did text on a 240 x 240 (80 x 80 didn't work out) transparent background in GIMP and saved it as a .gif to preserve transparency.
* SSN - you said that you setup the graphic in photoshop first to make sure the grid will be lined up - I tried doing the same with mine as well. Are you running 4 columns or 5? Or can it vary from screen to screen? Left screen looks like 4 columns, right screen looks like 5. Can't really tell what the heck is going on with the middle screen. :)
* Any suggestions on a good clock that would go with this background?
* SSN - why are you using Desktop Visualizer for your blank icons instead of just using a blank icon? Or is that just in ADW.Launcher?

Oh, I'm running ADW.Launcher on CM7 RC2.

What I do a lot is put the text right on the wallpaper in photoshop, then use a Desktop Visualizer widget with a blank icon to launch the app. That way you can make the text look how ever you want and doesnt show up pixelated since its actually part of the picture you are using. You need to make sure it lines up correctly with where a DV widget can be placed, but you already kinda mentioned that.
