LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

We still need a consensus on how the USA models stack up compared to the review and overseas models available so far.
 
Sigh. So with Verizon's preorders opening, I find myself at a standstill. The rumors and speculation behind the Prime sound like things that I would want, and would probably be worth waiting for instead of getting the base G3 next week. But I have no way of knowing that because there's literally nothing but rumors and speculation at this point. This has been driving me crazy since I started looking into replacing my Razr Maxx back in April. Why in the hell do phone manufacturers refuse to announce new phones until you can buy them tomorrow?

This has the 10c update already,just took delivery of a T-MOBILE variant.

Those wanting root On T-Mo may have to wait &/or try some other exploit.
I'm not in a big hurry,still got my VIPER M8. :D

Now to wait and see what your initial impressions are. Glad you got yours early.

That looks very 2015 to me. 810 in mass production is looking early 2Q next year. The 801 and 805 are expected to be the bridge until then. 20nm will take a while to get efficient wafer yields (enough working chips per wafer).

Folks, please test the G3 under the following conditions:

1. GPS and Navigation for one hour.

2. 3D gaming for one hour.

3. Web with Flash use for one hour.

4. YouTube or Netflix for one hour.

THAT is heavy usage. Local video playback does not burden the gpu or high res display as much.

Ambient temperature impact is also a curiosity.

The 805 apparently has as significant an improvement to battery life as the S600 to S800/801, so it could be better than expected, in lieu of the 810 for Qhd.

Could be an interesting late summer, early fall.

First quick impressions:
Very nice,only one complaint so far:

As with a lot of phones,the auto-brightness is a f***ing joke. :mad:

There is virtually no difference from 0% on manual & auto-brightness,regardless of environmental factors.

I'm probably gonna root sometime soon,but,in the meantime,can anyone recommend,for an unrooted phone,an app (if one exists) that tweaks the attenuation to a more realistic range?

I've found one,but,was hoping for suggestions before buying it.

This just in from semiconductor manufacturing -

Junctions are junctions.

Mass production in 20 nm has been alive and well for quite some time with memory products sold as MCPs.

Migration to more complex structures such as those found with SoCs has already been shaken out in qual tests.

High yield manufacturing of SoCs is definitely next - but objects in your mirror are MUCH closer than they may appear.

For every rule there's an exception.

Based solely on my opinion, I would say that root exists for a reason and there ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

Cranking brightness to 70% indoors surprisingly has had a negligible hit on battery.(1 HR 10 minutes run time,screen-on time 57 minutes @70% brightness & only used 10% of full battery)

However,I went ahead & bought LUX AUTO BRIGHTNESS:

I'm using dynamic mode & tweaked a bit,supposed to adjust by time of day,we'll see how it goes for now.
So far,it's a huge improvement over stock.
Trust me,I'm not exaggerating on the stock auto-brightness.
It's virtually 0% regardless of environment.

This phone is otherwise a strong recommend,but,it's screaming to be rooted-ROMMED,at last a tweaked stock ROM.
