You'd be hard-pressed to get any extras as standard issue vs a promotional program w/any phone these days.

I've bought five phones from T-MOBILE since APRIL 2013 & all of them shipped w/the bare essentials:

Interesting.... is this just T-mo or a larger trend? My VZdub M8 came with headphones?

Handset/USB Cord & plug/one battery if applicable.

Even more bare boned is the MOTO G GPE,which ships from GOOGLE w/just the handset,USB Cable & NO PLUG.

But you did get headphones with mic with your M8, yes?

My Sammy S5 I just got a few weeks ago came with headphones. The headphones also have volume control as well as microphone. They are pretty darn nice. Not super high end but good none the less.

Not a huge deal but surprised if the G3 does not have them. Maybe at the intro price as cheap as it is, they had to cut cost somewhere. Who knows.

Went to Verizon Store and told them how I want to upgrade the other line to the G3 but put my SIM in it when I receive it and switch my upgrade to that line. The gentleman said you sure can but when that other upgrade gets used you lose unlimited. Sneaky S.O.Bs.

That is part of my concern. Stupid bastards are driving me to tmobile. When I want to add a line and pay them more money they should be able to figure out a simple way to do it without screwing up contracts of other phones on the account. Salesman just types junk in computer then blames the computer if it doesn't come out as he explains. Bottom line is if I'm not willing to change to their share everything plan they don't want my business or clerks not trained how to.

It should be no problem because my wife's phone has an upgrade due and I pay full price for phones to jeep unlimited. I just want to ADD a line with about 6 gb a month and wifi hotspot. It would cost as much as my unlimited! I thought hotspot was free in data limited accounts but again not so unless entire account is share everything. It's insane.

When I leave the store they make me feel like I'm trying to pull something, like I'm trying to rip THEM off! I could easily steal mobile hotspot in my rooted note 3 but I'm trying to be legit and fair with them.

BTW, no intention of dumping Note 3. I'd just like to own both and alternate. I'm starting to sound like new world pains on twitter.

I'll double-check when I get home this evening.
I'm positive about the G2/G3/MOTO G GPE,just the essentials.

The headphones/earbuds I can do without,I never use corded ones anyway.

To take that notion to another level,I'm looking forward to a Project Ara type of phone (provided it doesn't look like a LEGO/TINKERTOY hybrid),I can do without some of the hardware that's on most flagship phones.
(Lose NFC & 3.5mm jack & give me a TV/FM antenna in its place).

Did yours come with headphones? In all my excitement, I didn't check and I think mine came without them. That, or the best buy guy took them out and forgot to put back in

No headphones. Says the box content on the side sticker and headphones not included on there.

No big deal to me though. I have plenty of earbuds and my daily drivers are powerbeats (purchased at crazy discount) and the Sony mw1 bt dongle. Perfect combination.

Swag. We NEED more swag.

I don't know why I didn't get 3 or 4 company pens (nice ones), a branded USB stick (OK to be small) and a refrigerator magnet with any phone I've ever bought.

EDIT -

Yes. Yes, I am serious. Deadly serious.

I'm bordering on "hoarder" nowadays, though, so too much swag is starting to become too much...until I sell off and donate more goods, to make new room for new toys.

+ 2 DRINK COOZIES

Well I tried out the G3 at at&t yesterday. I'm going to say its the most gorgeous phone I've ever seen. The screen is beautiful. I'm still on the fence though. I love stock android so much that I can't go to a skinned device. Do get me wrong...the UI looks nice and more improved compared to others. I'm still going to think about it though as I wait for the next lineup of tech coming late Aug and Sept. I'm starting to feel like steven58 lol.

Once aftermarket development kicks-in full gear & tweaks from LG via updates,it'd be worth a 2nd look, especially if you are fortunate enough to catch a too-good-to-pass-up sale....

I went to a different Verizon store and they told me I'd lose unlimited after the transfered upgrade gets used on the other line. Called Verizon and was told I wouldn't but I'm not sure she understood what I was saying.

Called Verizon again and explained step by step what I wanted to do. She understood completely and told me, without hesitation, that yes I could do it but when I transfer my upgrade to other line, after the fact, that I would lose unlimited data when that upgrade is used. So now 2 stores and one phone rep have told me that. One phone rep said no problem and around 6 people on two different forums have told that I could it without losing unlimited.

The second phone call, she told I could put insurance on the phone and if something happened to her S3 she would more than likely get an S4. So kind of an upgrade.

I got to test one today for a whole hour!!! Wow!!! ;)

Quick summary:

1. The display looks fine. I did not notice the sharpness issue, but did look for it with different content. I had to balance that with other things I was doing though.

2. I did not notice any "lag" different from any other stock device. No better, no worse.

3. I like the UI and options better, compared to Samsung.

4. Design and feel are about as good as can be done for a 5.5" display device.

5. Very much prefer the button design of Samsung over the Google driven display nav bar. That said, the "immersive" mode works much better than the M8 effort and works with more apps & UI better. M8 seems cumbersome in comparison.

6. The device got very warm when gaming- especially the display area. Overall, the device gets as warm/hot as my S4. It actually reminded me of the very warm running Droid X2 that used a Tegra 2. The DX2 display got "hot", but due to the Tegra 2 pushing heat out. The DX2 was an AWFUL device, but the G3 is not. The DX2 was hot all the time and not just for gaming. It really sucked.

7. If I had to pick between the G3 and M8, I would pick the G3 due to much bigger display for same height device, better (for me) immersive mode and replaceable battery.

8. I tested Dead or Alive ++ to test the CPU out (MAME does not use much GPU resources). The game was significantly slower than on my also high res Note 2014. It seemed to be throttling down.

No time to test battery, more throttle conditions or radio reception. I can say that I am solid on the feeling this device is a better device for light to medium users and not for heavy users.

One revelation I had was the 805 will help with pushing Qhd, but still 28nm and like the Note 2014, the big resource and heat maker is the display. It really hit home testing in person. The display is mutually both a blessing and a curse.

Edit: I removed one "and" that read "and and" in the second from last paragraph.

I guess the phone hit you on a first impression heh.

It hit me that the chipset is a distant second for concern. The display is the main battery and heat issue. Seems a 20nm SoC is less important than having a more efficiently powered display.

I was wrong, since thought a 20nm SoC was more important.

Will be interesting to see the Note 4 and what power efficency results that display has beyond throttle trickery.

first full day in the books. 15 hours off charger, 1 hour SOT, light use for me, probably light to moderate for many, 44% on the battery. Included a bit of nav, gaming, calls, texts, browsing.

Pretty decent. My M7 would have been dead a few hours ago.

The new GPU is going to be quite power hungry - the 20 nm process technology is going to offset some of that.
