LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

The Evo thread was better, but I digress.

I think that this has been a perfectly cromulent thread.

And the US is rocking the new phone y'all wanted in many cases for a hundred dollars or less on release day.

What's not to love?
I was there! I remember you from then. First Android, first 4G phone anywhere.

First front facing camera anywhere too. :)
Quick stroll down memory lane. I remember it had a 4.3 inch screen, and most reviews talked about how HUGE that was and unmanageable with one hand.

And talk about a battery..... You were lucky to get 2 hours sot, standby wasn't much better. I actually had to root and underclock it.

It was so bad, sprint gave me a free 2600 mah extended bulge battery for free. With that, it could take a pounding.

I remember thinking that it was still the phone to beat almost 12 months after I got it. Sammy hadn't hit it's stride yet.

Heh.. he said "cromulent". :)

Went to Verizon Store and told them how I want to upgrade the other line to the G3 but put my SIM in it when I receive it and switch my upgrade to that line. The gentleman said you sure can but when that other upgrade gets used you lose unlimited. Sneaky S.O.Bs.

I call BS. Transfer your upgrade to the other phone. Buy the upgrade on it and put your sim in.

6 more days, then:

Get a 2nd opinion on that. I did that to get my G2 and no such issues. Both phones on your account?

With the posts about 20nm and the 805 I thought some may be interested in these web pages.
IBM is going to devote $3 Billion to research and development to find what it takes to produce 7 nm chips. They will also investigate using carbon nanotubes for connections:

Yes, both on my account. I want to use my mom's upgrade for the G3 and put my SIM in it then transfer my upgrade to her phone. I was told when I use that transferred upgrade, which I probably will at some point, on her line I will lose unlimited.

Was definitely a fun pre-release thread. Although, not sure how much more I'll be in the LG G3 forum, considering it's not gonna be my primary device. I'll still likely pop my head in, every now and then.

GLAD TO HEAR IT!!!
Who is this guy, again?? :p (Steven runs)

lies, all.

Did you get yours at lunch? Gold? What do you think?

Nope. Entire store system was down (phones, computers, registers), so have to go now to pick up. I know it'll be a great device, but still won't be my primary. Note 3 will be my primary for another year (hopefully), until the foldable phone/tablet comes out in 2015 (just depends on how Samsung or LG put it together w/ the flexible screens).

Checked out the G3 and the One M8 for about 30 minutes at the AT&T store today. I liked the stock dialer, gallery, clock, and camera apps much more on the G3. Those speakers on the M8 are amazing, but the G3 is pretty good as well. Both phones had people staring at me from across the store, certainly much louder than my GNex. The G3 felt really good in hand (as well as I could tell with that stupid security device strapped to it).

The back cover material looks and feels good. While the aluminum on the M8 is clearly superior, I'll gladly take the removable battery the G3 offers by going the plastic route for a very similar feel. My only reservation is that since I'm on Verizon, I'm hoping they didn't screw up the material of the back cover too much.

I try the other store tomorrow. If they say the same I'll call Verizon and ask them.

By all means, do ask vzw. They helped reassure me I could do that previously. I spoke with several CSR's to make sure, and none of them had any qualms sharing the info with me.

Strangely I viewed it as a sneaky workaround, and they assured me it was completely legit and within their rules. Trust yourself. You probably have the right answer.

I sorta feel your pain compadre.

I'm not budging from my M8, but with all the glowing new user reviews I decided to stop by Sprint on the LONG drive home today and check this bad boy out.

Then - the lightning storm came from out of nowhere. Odd as that sounds, in the high desert, it's way real.

Wish I could have gotten pictures for you all.

Which leads me to -

And for you rooters out there, I'm hoping that Jishnu will make a camera update and y'all will show me those too.

Some of you may know Jishnu from the G2 camera mod. He did the same for my M8 and I'm digging it. I'm betting that he or someone else will have a great G3 offering.

Anyway, it's not about technology worship - it's about pictures. :)

Help a brother out, show me the stuff! :)

PS - I hate those security things, it's hard to get the feeling of things. :(

Guess I am in the same camp, sticking with the M8 also. I cancelled my pre-order. :(

Even with the monster bezel's this thing is just like fine wine, getting better and better with age. I could just not leave the sound this thing puts out. Way to handy for my everyday use. And now with the Viper on top of the H/K, what can I say but I am hooked.

I would just like to add that it has truly been a pleasure to be a small part of this thread. You can search far and wide and not find such nice folks as the ones in here. There are not many things these days that you can read and interact with that make you more knowledgeable and put a smile on your face. And for that I would like to thank all of you for a wonderful experience !!!

Good luck to all with whatever phone you choose for your D/D. They are all (excluding apple :D ) great devices that we get to carry around and enjoy ! That's what it's all about.

Well, I still got it, so it'll be around. I have to say, I really do love the form factor over the Note series. Wish Samsung figured out how to shrink the overall size, but fit a 5.5-5.7 screen. It feels so much better in the hand than my Note 3...but, I'm still holding out hope for the folding devices next year to blow me away. A note series "true" "phablet" would be ideal for me.

One things for sure, I completely botched my first tempered glass install and 2nd was pretty bad. From what I remember, these things can be washed and re-used, but oh well.

Here it is though.

Did yours come with headphones? In all my excitement, I didn't check and I think mine came without them. That, or the best buy guy took them out and forgot to put back in

I'm pretty sure all phones come with headphones these days.

errr.... I might be wrong:

"We spotted two LG G3 unboxing videos, one of them officially coming from T-Mobile, and another one showing the handset

I plan to check this out at VZW this week. Wife's up for a new phone. It'll likely be another M8 but I wanna play with the G3 before making the final decision.
