LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

Back to the question of does pushing more pixels hurt battery life, I thought of this comparison: Note 3 (1080P) vs. Note 3 Neo (720P). Not all is equal, but this is as close as it gets. The Note 3's SoC is more powerful and it has a larger, higher pixel density screen which should be a disadvantage, though it's given 100 more mAh to play with.

I doubt the increase in resolution is a huge factor with battery life.

With 8 days left, ( now 7, not counting today ), it might be time to activate our deep implant mole in LG Headquarters. Please send the message.

This just in:
With LG's latest flagship, the LG G3, expected to be introduced during an LG event on May 27th, a number of Scandinavian online retailers have already posted the device on their websites. This gives us an idea about how the phone will be priced.. Finnish retailer Kasuplan has the 16GB model in Gold tagged at 613 Euros ($841 USD). The same retailer has the 32GB version in white with a price of 659 Euros ($904 USD).

Another online retailer in the region, Multitronic, is offering the LG G3 in both 16GB (Gold) and 32GB (White) variations for 678 Euros ($930 USD) and 730 Euros ($1001 USD) respectively. All of these prices include the 22% VAT and could be placeholder prices, posted until LG puts up the actual cost to the consumer to purchase the phone.

These prices are high, but it's initial pricing with >$200 of VAT :eek:

At state anything could be possible. But I agree is unlikely but not impossible.

Certainly. I'm not discounting it or another homespun processor from another company. Just meant the blogs have backed off that since the earlier reports. I'm guessing that was due to the Adreno 330 screenshot.

I doubt It will be that expensive. Perhaps not a subsided price yet. More likely be cheaper than current flagship :). (most hopefully)
I'm 99.9% certain these are outright prices, so they are likely right-on for Europe with a newly released flagship.

I am sure it will be $600. That's where it needs to be.
Here in Cambodia, the G2 has been camping at $535 w/1 yr. warranty for quite and time now. Respectively, the S4 is down to $505 and the S5 $665. So how will LG price the G3 at launch...

Here's my final bottom dollar-type bet: Snapdragon 805 processor. Why? BECAUSE NO ONE IS GOING TO BUY IT IF IT HAS THE SAME PROCESSOR AS THE G2 AND ESPECIALLY THE S5. /rant.

Sound logical?

PS: Feels weird not having an insider to guide us.

These rumoured specs could be the thing which makes me jump ship from the Samsung.

Looking forward to the launch event on 27th May

So assuming the renders recently leaked are accurate in regard to their dimensions, I just did a quick photoshop job with the G2 placed on top of the G3. I sized the G2/G3 so that their diagonals had the right ratio since we know that the G2 has a 5.2 inch screen and G3 has a 5.5 inch screen. I attached the end result...G3 is definitely bigger than G2...

Definitely not accurate, but taking some quick measurements on this photo it would appear that the dimensions will be approximately as follows, with the GS5 and Note 3 as reference as well:

G2--> 138.5 x 70.9 mm (5.45 x 2.79 inches)
G3--> 148.5 x 75.1 mm (5.84 x 2.96 inches)
GS5--> 142 x 72.5 mm (5.59 x 2.85 inches)
GN3--> 151.2 x 79.2 mm (5.95 x 3.12 inches)

So who knows how accurate the leaked renders are dimensionally...but these dimensions could at least be somewhat in the ballpark.

However, if the bezels on the G3 are supposed to be thinner than the G2...the leaked renders to my eye appear at least the same size as the G2 (maybe even a hair larger). So who knows, maybe the renders are not perfectly scaled...

For those wanting to get a better idea of the dimensions, I think bobn4burton is pretty darn close. I was looking at some of the cases on Amazon, and saw the technical details on one of the cases for sale:

Amazon.com: [Shine Gold] Verus LG G3 Case [Thor] - Extra Slim Fit Dual Layer Hard Case - Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, International, and Unlocked - Case for LG G3 D850 VS985 D851 990 2014 Model: Cell Phones & Accessories

Product Dimensions: 6 x 3.5 x 1 inches ; 4 ounces

I kinda take the dimensions for this case with a grain of salt because a case that is 1 inch seems extremely thick.

Are you saying that you dislike the thickness or size dimensions of the LG g3?

"Product Dimensions: 6 x 3.5 x 1 inches ; 4 ounces"

Don't you think an inch is a bit much for a case?

Hopefully that's a typo, yeah?

I'm not so worried about that now. First I want to feel the phone then comes the case and there will surely be me various cases by the time.

Clearly, I was referring to the case dimensions being 1 inch thick. That is almost ridiculously thick for a phone case, so I don't quite believe that the dimensions for the case are correct.
