LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

Lol its funny how much we are trying to squeeze out of every little rumor detail. Seems lg g3 is expected by lots of ppl

i'm going to hold off purchasing accessories until I'm sure I could live with the phone itself!

Here's the G3 cutout laying next to the G2 to give another visual perspective:

Bezels or no bezels, as soon as I put an Otterbox Defender on that, it's going to be enough bigger to put it out of range of a top pocket carry on a number of my shirts. :(

I think I'm going to check this out compared to the One M8 Prime (because I still wouldn't mind the speakers).

Or, maybe go with the G2. I've been looking closely at that and really like it.

Anyway, bezels just don't bother me. All I care about is the final width after a good, armored case.

Gotta agree Early, an armored case would be too much size for me also. I think another Incipio will be in the cards if I do another case. This may end up being my first truly naked phone. Depending on how the brushed finish looks, I might want that anyway.

Going caseless will take some getting used to though.

I went caseless for a month, up until about 2 months ago with my LTEvo.

At first it felt weird having nothing to hold on to, then it felt great. Then I almost dropped it. Then my nerves were shot.

For me, a really trustworthy case just isn't an option, it's a requirement. :D

I'll check out the Incipio. I'm terribly happy with the Defender I have now.

It'll be a significant switch from a Defender. They are perfect for protecting the phone's shell against dings and abrasions but I don't think they'd help much with a drop scenario. I was spooky at first but I did get used to it quickly.

Those Defenders are definitely the ticket for drop protection but as phones have got bigger, I've been rolling the dice a little more.

Ok, so I'm at their website.

Ummm... Uhhhh... Nice cases, uh huh.

Here it is ; for all of you wondering about the dimensions

LG G3 case reveals dimensions for the upcoming flagship - GSMArena.com news

They have the G3 listed at 141.8. The SGP slim armor case is listed at 15cm (150mm) X 7.9cm (79mm) X 1.3cm (13mm). They actually might be right, but still seems like they are guessing, assuming that the SGP case will add almost 1/2 a cm on top and bottom.

The thing that'll squash all of that is the FCC's filing that lmp180psu posted earlier

The LG D850 variant cleared by the FCC supports the LTE bands: 2, 4, 5, 7, and 17. According to FCC Filing, the LG D850 is 74.6mm wide and 146.3mm tall

So, I think GSM arena is underestimating the true height of the G3. The FCC filing is official, so let's look at those numbers (that we know for sure):

14.63cm (146.3mm) X 7.46cm (74.6mm) X ??

If you look at the SGP case dimensions, the FCC filing adds up much more appropriately, for phone to case size difference. While I'd love to say that GSM Arena has it right and the phone's height will be smaller than the S5, I'm highly doubting that is correct.

So looks like Spigen have published their line up of cases for the lg g3. If the render shown here is accurate with dimensions...then it puts the g3 at almost exactly 10.5mm thick.

Also...since the slim case has most of the top/bottom of the case cut-out, this next picture with dimensions are very nearly the exact dimensions of the actual phone...for height at least. That puts the phone at 148mm tall (maybe a hair shorter if any part of the case actually goes above/below phone...

So I believe we are pretty concrete now on the size...
146-148mm tall x 74-75mm wide x 10.5mm thick

Those Spigen renders also show the ports on top/bottom very nicely.

Looks like there will be USB, headphone and mic on the bottom.

On top there will be 3 features. I assume one is the IR blaster? The smaller hole...is that the second mic? And it's also interesting that almost every case has shown the corner cutout for stylus or antenna. Most people have been leaning toward this being an antenna...but with it being so prominent...I'm starting to wonder if LG is gonna throw a stylus at us?? That would make things very interesting...

I really dig the Poetic case for my G2. I really just got it cause the damn thing is so slippery on the back.
Wife will never get a case for her Moto X since it's a wood back. :p

So far we know:

1. Dimensions
2. Removable battery ( size? )
3. Colors
4. Wireless charging ( might be OEM on some carriers, options on others )
5. Resolution
6. Micro SD slot ( max of 32 GB ? )
7. Some screen shots of UI
9. Single 1 watt speaker on back
10. Case material-polycarbonate, brushed metal look

Don't know:

1. Availability date
2. Water resistance?
3. Processor
4. Memory and Ram, but probably 32 GB and 3 GB

And finally, after signing up for news from LG on their website, they haven't told me a thing about the G3, just a large all inclusive promo on all their products. Let's go LG.

The thickness is at the middle of the back. The taper towards the edges will make it feel thinner.
