LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

Clearly, I was referring to the case dimensions being 1 inch thick. That is almost ridiculously thick for a phone case, so I don't quite believe that the dimensions for the case are correct.

Unless the intention is to drop it off a 5 story building, then that might be about right. The super thick, foamy, case of shielding love? :D

If that's the case however...they might want to edit out the words "extra slim fit" in the product description.

LOL...exactly. I saw the extra slim and thought, there's no way extra slim is a 1 inch thick case...hahaha

A week to go. If LG decides to give out phones to selected reviewers, this is the time they should have them. No news will come out because of the Non-Disclosure, but maybe we can sniff a leak here and there.

My first post here, but have been following the site for the past few weeks, waiting for the G3 to come out :)

Here is some information on possible dimensions (minus thickness) for the AT&T version approved by the FCC (link will come in next post since this is my first one and the site won't let me post a link):

The LG D850 variant cleared by the FCC supports the LTE bands: 2, 4, 5, 7, and 17. According to FCC Filing, the LG D850 is 74.6mm wide and 146.3mm tall, a bit larger than a LG G2 measuring 138.5 x 70.9 x 9.1 mm.

Those dimensions are dangerously close to what I estimated when comparing the leaked g3 renders with the g2.

I think these dimensions are pretty solid now. It's actually pretty cool that LG is fitting a 5.5 inch screen in a phone that is only a few mm taller/wider than the galaxy s5 which only has a 5.1 inch screen.

Welcome to the forums! :)

Thanks! I currently have a Motorola Atrix 2 which has been giving me quite a bit of problems in the last few months. I am finally out of contract, and holding out for the G3. I have never had the newest phones, as I got the Atrix 2 almost a year after it was released, so I am going to splurge and most likely get the G3 early on :)

I am with AT&T at the moment, but considering moving to Verizon. Both have similar plan options with the monthly payments etc, but thinking of going to Verizon because of the LTE network, and my partner's reception is better when he is at my house (he is on Verizon), so that is a plus.

Starting to get cold feet! If the G3 only has a 3000mAh battery, even if it is removable, and the 801, I wonder how the battery life will be? I'm really liking my G2. Had it on for 15 hours, didn't do a lot, but did make some calls, internet, etc, and it was at 52%!!!

Thanks for that. I was finally able to put the old pencil to the paper and see the difference in size. As in I literally traced my G2 and used a ruler to add in the new dimensions. :D

The larger size is a go for me so that's one hurdle crossed. Good to have you with us. :)

The days can't get any slower right?

Before the phone comes out, I first order a case. Then I order a spare battery, if it has one. Then I order a micro sd and maybe a spare charger.

When the phone does come out, I am so deeply committed, I have to get the phone!!

Awesome! Fantastic 1st post and contribution. And welcome to AF. Hope you find a second home here (and pre-warning, if you get sucked into the addiction of Android, because of this forum...it's very possible...happened to me).

Based on the FCC filings for the ATT G3, looks like the rumors for the G3 being physically smaller than the Isai FL are true (For reference, Isai FL's dimensions were 147.00 x 76.00 x 10.50). It'll be .07mm shorter and 1.4mm less wide, than the LG Isai. I wouldn't be surprised if it's even less thick than the Isai, if LG is trying to distinguish the two as separate devices.

I'm loving the overall form factor. This is kinda what I was hoping for with the Note 2, prior to my getting that phone. So, all that said, the Xperia Z2 is definitely the phone to get an idea of the height and width of the G3 and possibly even the thickness will come in close. Of course, the G3 wins on fitting the 5.5 inch screen in that form factor.

I've typically done the same thing with all my phone upgrades.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I have been an Android fan for a while, but am not so technically savvy, so I read and try to taken in the knowledge from others.

I hope that the Verizon version is not much different than the other carriers versions, where limited cases etc are available for it :(

Okay, I suck at photoshop and really wouldn't be able to do an overlay, but to get an idea of how the 5.5 inch screen would look on the form factor of the G3, I went to Phonearena's size comparison page and placed a Note 2 on top of the Xperia Z2. Why couldn't all manufacturers follow what LG is doing. LG does actually seem to be listening to the consumers.

They fit a 5.5 inch screen into a form factor that I think would be comfortable for all, regardless of people's hand size.

Everybody has been in love with the HTC One M8, but the biggest complaint was about the bezels and LG did what HTC should have done. And the devices are going to be so excruciatingly close to the same height!

Here's the G3 cutout laying next to the G2 to give another visual perspective:

Awesome! Now, somebody who is good at photoshop, superimpose the leaked pics of the G3 onto iowabowtech's great work and there we'll have a size comparison!...HAHAHA.

I've been itching to see the official release of this one so bad, that I thought today was the reveal! Good thing is, announcement day is the day after a 3 day weekend. Completely forgot it was Memorial Day weekend.
