They don't even know the name of there own phone. It's actually known as the Optimus Q on this forum.
The Optimus Slider and the Q are similar. Same as the V and the S are similar. I managed and found info for both phones for the All things Root Guide sticky. They are not the same phone. Different carriers and firmware. The Q owners just used the Slider forum because they didn't have one of there own. And there where some things they could both use.
You don't want to flash the slider or Q firmware onto the V as there is enough of a difference with the physical keyboard to cause serious system crashes,freeze's, and corruption.
.Best explanation:
V=S=U are all triplets, identical.
M=C are twins, identical.
M~V are cousins, similar.
Slider~Q are cousins, similar.
Note: This is by hardware. Firmware makes everything different by carrier and look...
If you flash Optimus M firmware on the V you will permanently brick (ask Phatninja55)....same vice versa.
If you flash Optimus C firmware on the M, it will work fine (again same vice versa) I did it myself.

You forgot about the Optimus T
And the T would be the older brother, since its sporting the original LG Optimus One button layout.
. Same with firmware.Flashing an optimus s to virgin mobile is easy as hell as long as you have a donor phone. Easier than other phones because once you get data working on it you can just flash an optimus v on it and get mms working.
The whole process should only take an hour.

I noticed what error did you get when you ran the homemade cab?I commented on one of your vids btw![]()

No it isn't possible without breaking not only VM's TOS, but also the law. even so its still extremely difficult and not worth the risk![]()
The original law was written when analog cloning was all the rage, the way the law is written fraud has to be an element involved for it to be a criminal act . This could take the form of using an esn that doesn't belong to you or having 2 phones ie: both the original and donor phones with the same esn on a carrier. Under the law software that allows cloning esn's is also illegal, putting programs like CDMA Workshop and QPST in limbo as far as people having them while not in an official capacity of working for a carrier. Also as far as I know Cricket is the only carrier allowing this without violating their tos.
Because they probably have a bank of unused ESNs that they are allowed to change on a device. Where as the layman requires a second device to use as a source ESN, there by creating two devices with the same ESN. You could then sell the donor device and wait for the rube to activate it and then use their service.I wonder, is it legal for a phone shop to change ESNs? There are several that do this at malls....
If it's legal for them, why?

That I have no idea, probably the same kind of thing as game shops that used to chip Playstations.I meant I know of places that clone metropcs phones for like $50.....someone had his evo cloned to his optimus M...the esn is the same as the optimus m phone now.

By donor phone, do you mean any virgin mobile phone or specifically an Optimus V donor phone. BC my situation is that I have an Optimus S and I have a crappy 10 dollar Virgin Mobile "donor" phone. Would that be sufficient?
Yes, i tired entering the MEID into Virgin's website and it said there was a problem
