Root LG Volt Stock ZV5 Rooted Rom - Odex & Deodex

Question... On an odexed system, should apps you install be odexed as well? Also, link2sd doesn't show all the system apps as odexed.

not all apps have to be odexed in a odex Rom (its both odexed framework jar files and system apps that work on optimizing loading) odex is essentially java being pre-loaded into dalvik-cache from outside the app. more than likely if it is a user(data) app and you ARE NOT theming or moding it, it wont normally have a odex file.

So to answer your question.. the apps you install (non-sys apps) on an odexed Rom do not need to be odexed. there are a few ways to make your normal apps odex.. but really, ideally its done only for system apk & jar

From what I can tell Android read your hardware-based MAC address and writes it to a config file. After creating this config file it apparently just reads your wifi mac address from that location each time. So when I copy files from my phone I copied the config file, so now everyone that installed one these roms has my wifi mac address.

Can someone make a backup and flash the file below and see if it fixes your WiFi MAC address. Just check the address before and after to see if it fixes it

wifi_mac_fix.zip

if this fixes the issue I just have to add some lines to my updater script to fix the issue.

Didn't fix it. Same Mac address.

To the Op of this Rom kwknott
Im a rom builder also im gonna be running your odex Zv5 rom just letting you know that your missing some apps in the app folder and private app folder you have the odexed file but missing the actual .apk to go with the odex file cant remember which files they where u will have to go into the rom and see for yourself. By the way thanks for your time and generosity. Like i said im a rom builder also and im adding the .apks you took out in the kitchen and zip and signing the rom back up.

That rom is going to be replaced with a full odexed rom as soon as I fix an issue with it. I'm adding everything back in so there's a complete odexed and deodexed avaliable. I must have forgot to go in and take the odex files out of that one. These are my first attempts at making a flashable rom so it's been a learning experience. Feel free to do whatever you want with either of them.

Here's attempt 2 at the Wifi Mac fix if someone would like to try

ZV5 Wifi Mac Fix #2

Wifi mac address after flashing ROM, before fix: 34:4D:F7:74:2D:06

After flashing fix: 88:C9: D0:CB:AA:BE

Then I tried the procedure that ru7hl3ss mentioned in post #55, and mac address remained 88:C9: D0:CB:AA:BE.

I don't know what the original mac address was, but I'm guessing that this is correct. Both OUIs, 34:4D:F7 and 88:C9: D0 are assigned to LG Electronics.

Thanks kwknott.

The first one you posted is mine, so the fix worked for you. You should now be using your correct wifi mac address.

So looks like this wifi fix works. I'll get the updater scripts updated, re-upload the roms and get some new links posted as soon as I can.

Lol, finally made it to WiFi, and then find the links were taken down! Were the only issues with the bt? I was pretty darn excited about flashing this today... I was just trying to get a clear picture of what we're waiting on:-)

Sorry, I'm working on getting the links back up today. Had the Wifi mac issue but also found that dalvik-cache wasn't being properly wiped. When I installed it on my wife's volt I had some force closing going on.

No rush, man! Thanks so much for the effort. I just didn't read enough to understand why they were taken down.
Lol, if we Volt owners have learned anything, it's patience! Waiting has certainly paid off for us thus far...

Still full Rom. I'll make and get a debloated version up tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks! No big rush on that. Many people have different opinions about what should be removed anyway. The full rom allows us to pick and choose.

I happen to have 2 Volt's in the family, so if there's anything I can do to help with the bluetooth mac issue, just let me know. Currently one of them is on zv4 and the other is on zv5, and the bluetooth macs are different.

Yeah that's kind of why I put the full roms up. That way people can come to pick and choose the apps that they want. I have my own personal ROM that I'm running, but I'm not sure many people would like it. I stripped every lg app out of it that I possibly could, and replaced them with official google apps or 3rd party apps. Running Google launcher, SwiftKey, Textra, I replaced all the ringtones and boot animation with ones I pulled from official Lollipop rom. And my next project I'm trying to figure out if you can replace the lock screen.

I think we should be good on the MAC addresses. I think the original issue was just affecting the wifi MAC address. But the fix that I integrated into the updater-script appears to have fixed it.
