Root LG Volt Stock ZV5 Rooted Rom - Odex & Deodex

I wonder if it has something to do with Link2Sd. Are you actually linking apps with it? Might be messing with the cache.
That thought did cross my mind, but I'm not sure. I was able to get some things set up, including restoring the links for the apps on the SD and do some debloating. Suddenly, all launchers started continuously crashing, even in safe mode.

Tried all the usual stuff, cache and dalvik wipe, reset google apps data, etc. Thank God for backups!

I will go through and unlink everything and try again tomorrow. Battery is almost dead and I have to get to bed.

Just flashed the deodexed rom on two phones and I have ran into a problem. The mac addresses have changed and are now identical. Anyone else run into this problem? This is causing issues with the ole wifi. I'm seeing the mac address on both devices as: 34:4D:F7:74:2D:06.

I found this thread where it was happening with some other rom for a different device (don't know if this helps at all):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121151

EDIT (the fix):
Simple fix I found that works.

First, backup the old files just in case something goes wrong.

Copy the WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini and WCNSS_qcom_wlan_nv.bin files from /data/misc/wifi/ and replace the files in /system/etc/firmware/wlan/prima/ with them

Toggle wifi and it should be good to go. No reboot required.

Uh oh, good catch. I flashed the odexed version, and this phone now has the same wifi mac address that you mentioned. I did not flash the zv5 radio, only the rom, so the phone still has the zv4 radio.

On a different subject, the odexed version is nicely debloated, but @kwknott I would suggest a few changes if you are going to continue providing a debloated version.

Do not remove:
Email, Memo, Tasks, Task Manager, Weather, Flashlight, ThinkFree Viewer

Do remove:
Connections Optimizer, LocationServices (com.qualcomm.location)

Thanks

Don't remove Qremote either, please.
I disagree with removing Connections Optimizer. It stores authentication information for, and handles automatically connecting to, public hotspots.

OK, so since deodexed is incompatible with ART, and people have reported the ART works with zv5, which is better for performance? The only tweaks I run are GravityBox and G3 Tweaks, so I don't think there'll be an issue with any of that not working on an odexed system.

Good catch.. That is a problem with a lot of ROMs. The Bluetooth Mac is software based instead of the WiFi Mac which is unique and hardware set. Essentially everyone who installs either ROM has the same Bluetooth Mac address. I'll try to find a fix.

These are going to stay full bloated ROMs. I always like having a full stock ROM floating around in case it's needed. Plus these are good if anyone needs a base ROM for anything, then they can customize it to their liking. I will be releasing another ROM which so far I have stripped anything out I can. Going for a pure Android ROM without lg customization.

Thanks

Both will stay in these.

Didn't know that. I haven't used Art so I don't know what the performance improvements are. I'll try to play around with it sometime.

Thanks! To be clear, ru7hl3ss was talking about the wifi mac, not bluetooth.

From what I can tell Android read your hardware-based MAC address and writes it to a config file. After creating this config file it apparently just reads your wifi mac address from that location each time. So when I copy files from my phone I copied the config file, so now everyone that installed one these roms has my wifi mac address.
script to fix the issue.

That jives with my limited understanding also, as well as the info that ru7hl3ss added to his post #55 above.

Can someone make a backup and flash the file below and see if it fixes your WiFi MAC address. Just check the address before and after to see if it fixes it

I can probably try it this eve. The phone that I'm currently playing with isn't in service, so no need for a backup. :)

Thanks!

It's hard for me to test because it's my mac address so I can't tell if it changes. Getting ready to get ahold of the wife's phone and test some things

Went through and basically completely unmodded the phone. Unlinked apps, uninstalled link2sd and xposed, moved apps I had made system apps back to user space.

Flashed the odexed ROM and aside from a couple play services at first boot all seems well. Even switched over to ART runtime. I ran a couple benchmarks with an app I found from Qualcomm, before, and after updating. I will do another after I debloat, but here's screenshots. The first is before, the second is after. The browser score jumped way up, and one of the tests that failed before updating completed this time. Might run it on the stock browser too, just for curiosity.
