Well it's been about 8 hours now since I flashed 1200 and everything seems to be going smoothly except that my phone doesn't seem to want to go into sleep mode. It continually stays on unless I manually turn it off. I checked my screen timeout settings (was set for 1 minute) and have tried a couple of different settings (15s, 30s, 2min) and no change. Any ideas why flashing from 1100 to 1200 would change this?

Okie dokie folkies, played with some diff kernels and these are the results I've gotten. I'm not gonna bother with benchmarks, as even from my review I was still getting pretty good ones.

Chevy's: Chevy's kernels have never really liked my Droid, so I didn't expect much. It'll load, but I can only get so much performance, and I can't get above 1GHz.

Jake's: Was my go to kernel for quite some time, but couldn't get past the "M" logo.

jdlfg's: Well how bout that? No lag. Ran nice and smooth, the way it should. However, it would randomly reboot very often and more than a few FCs. Very unstable but some hope, though.

slayer's v.1.6: Again, no lag. Wonderful, might be narrowing down the issue. But like jdlfg's, many FCs and frequent random reboots.

original slayher's LFY1.5: Basically just reflashed the ROM and kernel, and this time there was less lag, but it was still present. And it got worse after a full day and then some. Also, battery drained very fast, yet again, so I dunno.

I see slayher has updated kernels so I'm gonna try that out and I'll report back, but I wanted to get this out here.

Slayher's kernels are just outstanding and well written.
I think if you are having issues with all kernels you might have
toasted your CPU, and its just a matter of time.

Your experiences are not the norm and even though
your reviews are well thought out I can't give them too much
weight/substance if your phone is the catalyst, not these ROMs which run
flawlessly for many people.

I hope you get things sorted out.

Well this is my second rom so far. I came from BB v4 Evolution theme with P3 1000 kernel. I had on going lag with this rom. I downloaded LP which helped a lot but the lag sometimes drove me crazy. I decided to try LFY and I have to say I am liking it so far. The lp home app didn't do so well with this home but awd is smooth. I notice that it works better with animations on rather than off with bb v.4. I ran quadrant and scores were in the 1600's with slayer 1100 kernel. One thing I notice is internet browsing is a tab bit slower using this rom and kernel compared to by previous one. Not sure if it is due to 3g speed or what. I have been running this for 2days now and will let it smooth out and see. I do miss the evolution theme on bb v.4[ and hoping for the watermarkd theme real soon!!

Yes it is, but that is the nature of pushing things to the edge.

My best with the current setup:

How are we supposed to see that?? :)
Sorry about that, resized for your viewing pleasure.
That's a 1738 BTW...

Anyone else having issues with sound on flash content with LFY 1.5?
Whenever I view anything with flash, the sound is way off and sounds like it is dragging. For those who remember vinyl, think playing a 45 at 33 speed. Everything else sounds fine (pandora etc.)
Everything sounds fine with stock 2.2 (FRG22d) and the "official" flash plugin from the market. I have that same .apk installed on LFY 1.5 and have issues.
Is there a way to make the official flash program show up in the market with LFY 1.5?

Ok after rebooting about 5 times the timeout issue has resolved itself. Now.. am I satisfied with 1200 or do I do higher...

Just for kicks I tried both the 1250 and the ULV 1300. The phone would boot but lag was horrendous. 1200 is smooth, fast. No complaints.

Yes I have noticed the same thing. It was the same way for me on 1.4, I was hoping that 1.5 would fix the problem but it is still off a little bit. The rom runs so smooth though I am putting up with it. Would be nice if I could find the original file somewhere and swap it out though.
I noticed this too, which is why I found these posts.

Liquid - do you know why some sounds are 'warped'? To me Pixie Dust and Moonbeam sound more tinny, and like it's cutting out a bit. Not as smooth as it was pre-LFY. It doesn't matter which kernel I use.

I loved LFY 1.4 so much, by far the best ROM I've used. That gave me very high hopes for this one. 1.t started out being awesome, and has some of the best battery life I've see. After a day, I noticed that the market crashed a lot, everytime I used it for about 30 secs. There was also noticeable lag. I reflashed it a quite a few times hoping it was that. It didn't work even though I tried multiple themes and wiped everytime. That made me sad, but I really look forward to 1.6.

Not 100% sure why, but today i decided to swap my SetCPU over to the interactive mode and now HOLY CRAP, this is easily the fastest and smoothest my phone has gone. I've been running a few different 1.2 kernals (a couple of p3's, and now slayhers), but just going from ondemand to interactive its almost a night and day difference. Everything from waking up, to scrolling home screens, to opening and closing apps is just SUPER smooth, now if the battery life holds out, i may have a hard time wanting to change from this setup... Thanks liquid and slayher!!!

edit: decided to run quadrant while typing a few times
with SetCPU set to ondemand scores: 1455, 1637, 1576
with SetCPU set to interactive scores: 1505, 1679, 1723 (my personal best), 1677

I switch to interactive also staying around 1500. How is your battery? Mine was at 90% after being standby for 8hrs.

Did you mess with the sample rate any? At default it shows 50000, not even sure what those advanced settings are.

I really like that theme. How do u got about setting that up? I'm using the smoke theme but no LP cuz of some of the lag I had with it.

Maps, browser, and camera are all working, although I do have a small Bluetooth problem. I cannot make phone calls via Bluetooth dialer.

that is the only problem I have(bluetooth), but haven't tried slayher kernels yet. probably try those at the end of the week when i have some time to play

There are instructions in the OP on how to apply each change. You may need to reflash the stock version of the rom before flashing Black N Bold, though. Just flash it on top of your current setup without wiping. Just remember to reflash whatever kernel you want to use.

And backup prior to flashing the stock LFY.

So Droid thanks for the great and HONEST review :) looking forward to seeing more positive reviews like this one thanks again :)

Always willing to speak the truth my friend :D You guys do great work and the support you provide to users is really above and beyond. I'm definitely a follower of your work now can't wait to see what you do next.

I feel the need to come back here and express something that makes me a bit shamefaced.

I had read a bit here and there about the Slayher kernels and the new 'interactive' Scaling method. Of course, I didn't try it - but I just read a post on here where a user said it made a huge difference.

OK, WTH, let me try it.

All of my lagginess has gone away. As in pulled the best harry Houdini I have ever seen with my own two eyes. As in "Wow, I should bottle this stuff up and market it to Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers! I'd be a gazillionaire in 2 days flat!"

Up until now I have been running the stock kernel b/c I simply have not had the time to try out a more powerful kernel - and I was getting frustrated beyond measure at the issues I had with the ROM:

  1. Twitter app always forgets my login upon a reboot / battery pull (and I am performing battery pulls not b/c of issues, but because battery drain was rather high, see #2, and so I was physically replacing the battery with a fully charged one).
  2. The battery life has gone to horrid on my phone - I cannot get 6 hours of a day, an this is with advanced profiles in Locale turning things off that I don't need (a first for me since I moved to FroYo).
  3. On every boot, the phone is laggy as HE|_|_!!!!!!

OK, #3 is dead, hopefully #2 will be as well, which leaves me with #1 - and the fix for that is simple - remove the twitter app that comes with the the Smoked theme and install the default Twitter app....

So, all in all, LFY is once again an awesome ROM on my phone.

Now, if I could just get my hands on LFY 1.6..... :p

You should check out the Overclock 101 thread at droidforums.net
by Skull One...

Interactive drains the battery more than ondemand but
I think the drain is worth the performance you get.

His thread even tells you what those "advanced settings" are:)

My final word...

This weekend, I flashed this ROM for the third time. I was having issues with the first two installs ... Swype would NOT install, and general sluggishness all around. Yesterday, I wiped/formatted every partition and reinstalled. I flashed Slayher's 1.1 kernel. Then I reinstalled all of my apps and restored their associated data. Finally, I flashed the Black Bar theme. At that point, I was very happy. Since then, it's all gone downhill. This ROM is just ... dare I say it? ... bad. After this post, I'm going to restore 1.4 and wait for 1.6 to be released, or maybe flash Pete's new ROM upon release. Maybe it's just my DROID, I don't know. I do know that I've flashed and themed more ROMs than most, so it''s not like I don't know what I'm doing or have plenty of ROMs to compare.

Sorry LiQuiD. :o

Don't worry bout it. I doubt it was Liquid's fault in his ROM
more than it was your phone as the culprit.

I'm just curious how many times did you wipe
each type of partition?

No I did not change anything other than the ring delay. Should I?

Oh, I thought since you were so bold and brave to set
your ring delay to 3 (lol) I had thought you would have set
the multiple rings to true:p

I get at least 8 rings before my phone stops ringing
and coupled to the hack I told you about for the ring delay
I never miss a call now.

Ever since rooting my Dorid last month and flashing it with LFY 1.4 I have been expriencing random 3g-to-1x and 4bar-to-1bar reception issues. Sometimes reception restores it self quickly but sometimes requires the airplane mode ON/OFF to get 3g back up. I now have the 1.5 with 1.0ghz kernel and still expriencing the same issues. Is this a ROM issue or 2.2 issue or kernel issue cannot seems to find good info on that. I would appreciate if anyone could chime in.
