Metro pcs BYOD

But I doubt you have any more idea of Exactly What Metro does to activate a new BYOD account/phone/Sim that I do, which would be Squatola.

It has been my personal impression that any training the Auth dealer store clerks may get is up to THAT dealer/Store owner Vs a more assured training a clerk at a Corporate store might get. I have got to think that a Corporate store manager would have some better/faster contact with the Mothership than an owner of an Auth dealer. (This Is NOT to say there MAY BE SOME Auth dealers who may make sure their clerks are knowledgeable but it hasn't been my impression those clerks are as On The Ball as the Corporate store clerks.) Those Auth dealers seem to me also most likely to waffle on pricing and policies, more often to charge More/give the customer less than they would at a Corporate store.

At least in my area, the Corporate stores are always The First to get the new phones which tells me the are also most likely to be the first to get training materials.

Unless someone here will Say they are actually doing it in store themselves, there's not a damn soul here that has clue #1 as to what Metro is actually doing in store to activate a BYOD device/account. I would certainly assume those steps Are Not the same as they've been in the past.

For a new dance you go to who's learned it best and to me, that's a Corporate store.

I understand what you are saying, I was being humorous, and the fact is most places do not really hire tech people, they are just (trained and I use that very loosely) sales people.
some people have an aptitude for it and pick up things very quickly and are great but many (corp or dealer) can only read from the script they get on the computer screen.

I think it's time to make your own dictionary. Instead of Webster's we'll call it Brewsters.

Wait, isn't that an ice cream place? Lol

Juicy Brucesters will do. Don't want to infringe.

First word to go in should be "faceplant" and it's alternate meaning.

from my understanding you walk in, say i have a byod and i need service, pay the 10 bucks for a sim and x amount for first month. they take the sim out and enter it into your account. then they take the imei off your device and enter it into the matching stuff.

from there idk if they will bother with helping you enter apn's and setting up your device. little birdy told me dont worry so much of whats on the list, vs what is a tmobile device capable. you need either an unlocked device, unlocked att, or a locked/unlocked tmobile device.

:)

I live in Dallas tx. I've been on the metros byod for about a week now.
And I love it. I'm currently using an lg l9 I was previously using the lg spirit. The 4g is much faster. I can actually watch YouTube in hd without the video stopping, I'm also tethering using foxfi app. Works great! I was planing to use an s3 from tmobile I bought earlier but it turned out that the imei# was blacklisted. So watch out for that. Some people are shady.

Can you explain the process?
i live in Miami and im dying to get my Tmobile S4 connected but i have no way of getting the sim or activating it

well oh my that is a breath of fresh air

BYOD coming July 1: Atlanta, Dallas, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco
GS4 coming July 3: GSM/BYOD markets

Just received the "official" bulletin from corporate, which conflicts with the earlier "secondhand" report. Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia, and San Franciscoe will begin selling the Metro-branded GSM phones, but not the BYOD program. Sorry.

Very interesting.

To me, that sounds more like they are having issues with things working as they expected on BYOD. (Especially with the prior report of them considering the Dell Streak BYOD problem an official "issue".)

Obviously, they don't feel it's a refarming issue with those cities of they would have also held back the new phones.

Lets be realistic here, at this point EVERYTHING we know about BYOD is pure speculation, due to a lack of contribution from any real first hand sources.
While @Bear DID have issues with his phone(more like tablet) getting put onto BYOD, lets first consider that although the phone does appear on the compatible list(DELL M01M), its not quite your average 'smartphone', also he went to a mom-and-pop store aka 'authorized dealers', which by his own words, was not a smooth transaction, and the person behind the counter was struggling throughout his entire activation.
Now, he said that he was called to go in with his DELL device to a metro corporate store to further investigate his issue.
Lets just look at the facts in this whole BYOD issue, and take a step back and let REAL contributions tell whats really going on with BYOD, all this speculation just doesnt do anything for anyone.

same here!

You know, they say Reading comprehension is Everything.

Perhaps you missed this.

Metro Corp Stores have a memo that talks about my problem so I'm guessing its an issue alot are having.

That CERTAINLY doesn't JUST sound like ONLY a local Mom and Pops store issue to me. Memos to other stores from Corporate about his issues again CERTAINLY indicate more issues considered by Corporate than Just his Mom and Pop shop not being up to speed.

Not to mention, somewhat confirmed reports of Metro backing off on some upcoming BYOD dates again certainly doesn't sound like things are going all candies and nuts with the intro.

I like to consider myself at least a Bit brighter than the average dumbass. I MYSELF said earlier that No One who Really knows what's going on with BYOD is talking here. At the same time, I think I pay enough attention in class here to make some pretty educated guesses.

I'm also pretty good in my reading comprehension skills too. ;)

Just woke up guys. Once I pick up the gf ill be headed over to metro. I work nights so its not easy to just run out and get stuff done. Also the memo the corp store had listed a butt load of phones on it. I wasn't able to read it cause it was too far away but it looked like it was a wide spread problem. The fast.T-Mobile.com prl also is expected to come up on your phone as metro pcs in the carrier box but comes up as T-Mobile. That's why I've always figured it to be a back end issue

Speaking of corporate stores I took a coworker to the corporate store because he wanted to switch from his BlackBerry on TMo to the Premia on metro and save over $20 monthly. He wanted to port his number and they told him he couldn't unless he had his current phone bill. I said I didn't need a bill just my account number when I came over from ATT and they said it's a different policy for Tmobile. 8 blocks away there was a authorized dealer and he did it with just his account number and pin. Makes me wonder if there trying to make switching from their more expensive company to their cheaper Metro. Also the corporate store says they don't know when simcards will be available the other guy said second week of July he expects them.

The speedtest results were pretty crappy. 3mb down 1mb up.
The process is pretty quick. T-Mobile phones don't need to be unlocked.
But I did anyway. I went to an authorized dealer where my wife works.
Regular price is 10 for sim card and 15 for esn switch. All she did was put the phones imei number into the asap system under byod and the sims # and put the sim card in the phone turned it on and it worked right away. No programing over the air or maual.

Ok guys. I'm back up on my Streak. Turns out the issue was ATT. When porting over numbers ATT wasn't letting everything go and the provisioning was messed up on a ton of ATT ports. This problem is now supposed to be solved. My phone is on hspa pretty much all the time now. And so far no network drop.
