Root MIUI - Working Data & SMS. . .

Must say this is a neat clean looking rom. Its very impressive. Might have found my daily driver.

Anyone else notice the LED is brighter with this than all the other roms? It seems brighter to me.

Try a different launcher, yeahha. I despised the stock launcher. I was so unhappy with it I was about to restore Liquid and write MIUI off forever, then I loaded LP+ and it was love at first swipe

Yeah, I am thinking about going back to GoLauncher. The MIUI launcher is actually more limited than Sense--at least sense has some pretty good widgets. The lack of changeable grid size and the lack of re-sizable widgets is annoying. I guess it at least allows scrolling.

BUT...MIUI backup is awesome, so I am going to stick with it until things get more stable so I don't have to keep doing setups.

(You know, if Google would make a 4x1 GV widget or release the API so people could make third party widgets I could maybe live with 4x4. The moron that made a 3x1 only widget needs a new job. I hate it so bad I do without even though I think functionally it is a great widget to have.)

1.11.11 is up!

New thread btw

*edit*

Vicious will be posting a new update possibly today. In the meantime, if your on stable 3, stay there. 1.11.11 is pretty buggy besides the networklocation.apk which was a huge file, but worked better than even sense ROM's IMO.

Also Vicious mentioned he got the MMS.apk decompiled, so we may have working MMS next release. Sounds like he just rushed the last release causing a few issues that were already worked out.

Couple posters said they lost data with this newer build. Have you flashed it, Brick? I was planning on flashing, but thinking now I may hold off until tomorrow morning

Also, random, but are you seeing 4G service where you didn't have it prior to flashing MIUI? I was showing G all day today and I assumed it was 3G, because I always had crappy 4G around me, but someone said G is 4G? I wasn't showing a 3G at all today in areas where I usually have only 3G so I'm confused. Hopefully Paullie actually fixes the icon tomorrow like he said he would 2 releases ago (not complaining, just saying)

edit: looks like a full wipe is causing people to lose data. So just flash over stable 3 (or whichever version you're on), maybe a caches wipe, too, if you want to be extra cautious

Hey worm I know I don't have 4g service in my area and I just have a G showing.

It's funny. I just changed all my "G" .pngs to 4G and updated my theme, did a speed test and I'm definitely getting 4G speeds. I'm very confused because like I said in my previous post I'm getting constant 4G in areas I never did before. Guess I'm going to have to do speed tests when in doubt until Vicious fixes the xml's

Yeah it is weird I was wondering why I didn't have 3G showing and just a G. I know I am not getting 4g speeds lol. Where's not a big deal to me as long as my stuff works all I am worried about.

Hey worm how's the zoom kernel doing? I was thinking about flashing it.

I did a full wipe for 1.11.11 and used the MIUI backup, which is another thing I love about this ROM I love.

No issues with data, and 4G 3G thing I'm still confused about, it always says 'G' for me, but will switch to a different 'g' icon when in 4g. I think your using the same theme as I am from the screenshot thread? But I'm using the stock icons.

DV said on twitter that he was going to fix it this release. (He said that last time, too, but I bet he fixes it. He fixed networklocations, so he is starting to pick away at the less urgent bugs.)

Last I saw, he thinks he got MMS working as well.

I made my own theme so I don't think we're using the same one. Unless you somehow broke into my place and hijacked my HDD ;)

Nope that was me :p

I tried MIUI it didn't like SPB shell so I'm back on liquid it isn't a bad rom (much better than any sense rom I've tried) just isn't for me

well after everybody going ape sh*t over this I've been on it for a few days now and I gotta admit I'm in love with the native features/settings! In particular the built in back up, theming, notification bar toggle and settings in general. I did a complete wipe to install the latest version and the built in back up had EVERYTHING just as I had it (screens, folders, settings, apps, themes ect). Didn't even touch titanium. I had an app to turn the screen off without using the power button but now its built into the toggle. Didn't want the annoying boot animation sound, I simply turned it off in settings once I found it. Learned yesterday if you double tap the lockscreen clock the music widget shows up...lol cool! Once I set up the zillion folders to replace the missing app drawer I began to like the UI. It is visually a little iphone cloney even with different theming but I'm getting over that quite fast!

I'll will probably be a month or so before I figure out if I really like the rom that much or if I was just fascinated with something different.

New build of the ROM will be up soon, according to the chatter on the thread over at rootzwiki. It's an ICS build, I believe.

ICS build will be up tonight.

Tried to get it finished last night, but got too late.

Vicious said tonight for sure. As far as I understand, aside from MMS, everything is working, with some additional enhancements.

the ICS build is up.....data is not working but phone is.

but, from what i could tell (about 20 minutes of playing with it) there really isn't anything different. camera is the same, phone is the same, contacts same, gallery same, no photo editing other than crop and rotate. literally everything looked the same other than it saying android 4.0.1 in the "about phone" screen.
still cool though, and once data is a go (he said shortly) i will be flashing it.

I think a majority of the changes are under the hood.

Its also kind of a mash-up of gingerbread and ICS. Kinda sucks data isn't working though. Im still on the 3rd? release maybe.. I was waiting for this one, and unfortunately the first mention of data not working was when the DL link was posted..

I could have swore yesterday DV posted that the only thing not working on the ICS version was MMS

Listed like that, ICS is pretty underwhelming. About 2/3 of that is already provided by third party apps and/or custom roms. You need to bold the speech recognition and hardware accelerated UI or something to get me excited again, lol.

Just copy/pasted that.

Something to get you excited...Jelly Bean will be the best version of Android ever :p
