im not 100 percent crystal clear either. I have a 32 GB SD card that is separated into two separated partitions. One shows up as INTERNAL when viewed on my PC and the other shows up as EXTERNAL. Both are really on the same 32 GB SD card though. When i record to the internal section it records fine at 30fps. When i try to record on the external part it reverts back to 15fps. I know it makes no sense

Had to read that a couple of times... What does your internal sd show up as? The 4 gig s?

Originally my phone wouldn't record at 720 @ all. Then I put in that class 10 card and Walla! Later, I was playing with antutu and learned that the sd card benchmarked faster than the internal 4 gigs.

Your post makes me think... Maybe I'll try it again tomorrow with my other class 10 chip? ? ? Could it really be the difference in the recording media? Nah, too simple.

But I think I'll try it anyway! ;)

Thanks for the idea!

I know my opinion here is probably unwelcomed by a few but you know whats interesting, i typed in "unable to extract frame android" in Google Search and this forum was the only relevant search result...meaning this is the only place talking about this error....nowhere else and on no other device...
Theres someting very strange about that...but i digress

whoever posted the fix method to this by waiting overnight is a genius....ive tried every other supposed "fix" and troubleshoot... and this is the only one that is successful...

Didnt wipe cache or data, didnt make build.prop adjustments along with the mod...didnt do a song and raindance before flash.....just followed the OP to the letter, rebooted last night and woke up to 30fps this morning...

Although it seems this is a dead issue now as of 6/25, I wish there was a member here experienced enough to explain why this doesnt work instantly...and seeing that this is an isolated issue that isnt universal in Android the possibility of this being addressed among the android developer elite is probably razor slim

...and seeing that this is an isolated issue that isnt universal in Android the possibility of this being addressed among the android developer elite is probably razor slim

Sadly, I feel that you're right about that... as much as I want CM9 - believe it or not, I want this mod even more. (it's a long story, but 30fps video taken from my phone would be REALLY sweet for my circumstances/use - more so than having CM9 finally working)

I've studied everything I can find online about fixing it myself, and have tried for weeks... but I'm apparently just too inexperienced with the AOSP framework to get it to work.
It seems that those with the know-how are either too busy atm, don't care, or are stumped by it as well.

Every morning I come to my computer and check this page, hoping and praying for a solution to have been found and posted by someone... and then yet AGAIN, I try to tackle it myself... and fail.
Again. And again...

Yeah i don't know why this hasn't been posted in the development forum for some other people to look at and see if they can lend their knowledge after expressing our issues.

Maybe one day I'll get it to work. Might have to sacrifice a goat but desperate times call for desperate measures. :D

I can understand wanting it to work but honestly after i posted up my videos i recorded on here with the stock camera and compared them to the others that were posted with the working mod, the difference seemed miniscule if at all. Surely not enough to want more than cm9, that preposterous :D jk

But all seriousness, i think the stock camera records very well and comparing it to the 30fps videos confirms that. ;)

I see your point, and yes - it does record nicely... but as a Journalist, I need 30fps on many of the videos I need to submit. 15fps just isn't good enough.
Plus, it would be nice if some of my own personal videos weren't choppy - 30fps is the only fix.
:)

Yeah i understand that. I really think it needs to be out sourced to the development forum to see if they can help. They might take one look at the insides and be like "well here's your problem". Never know. Someone should take it over there.

The cm9 comment cut me. Cut me deep. Hahahaha jk

my sentiments exact...

Man Fuzzy, I wish you could have got it working on your device so that you can see the difference personally for yourself why this is such a coveted mod...
as far as ICS goes....I've played with CM9, and MIUIv4, and AOKP and just about every ICS ROM for my EVO4G since January and believe it or not I keep a GB ROM on it at all times...GB is faster and everything works..... and native features tend to get lost in brand new Android version custom ROMs because of drivers, rather lack thereof...no 4g, no Bluetooth, no wifi, no camera, stability and app unresponsiveness issues and even new ICS features dont make it....all the things we're seeing on the Esteems CM9 rendition....

imho opinion I think ICS should have been Android 2.0 becuz it revamped and changed everything up down to the UI...ICS is for the hardcore Android base who want the latest that Google has to offer while GB is for the casual user who just wants simplicity...its like having any Nexus device vs a low-level prepaid...one wants to strut his new outfit and features...the other just wants to get away with the bare necessities

I wanna strut my stuff too...but i'd rather sacrifice that goat for 30fps than sacrifice key features in CM9

so this will make my video recorder more sharper vs the device video camera? Oh btw what about the camera for pics? any tweek on that?

so this will make my video recorder more sharper vs the device video camera? Oh btw what about the camera for pics? any tweek on that?

No, it won't make the video sharper, per se... it will make it less choppy and look more fluid.

*Edit* yeah, I guess it would make objects in motion look clearer. ;)

Recorded from my phone or someone elses, it would still be the same. Plus like I said, when viewed side by side by 15fps is just as smooth as a 30 fps modded video. Im perfectly happy with how my phone records. It's never choppy, it's always smooth.

http://androidforums.com/esteem-all...0p-30fps-updated-6-25-12-a-5.html#post4564617

Sure the 30fps would record smoother but it's not enough for me to justify loosing my mind cause I dont have it. Loosing my mind cause I cant get it to actually work is a different story though. lol. That's the OCD modder in me wanting it just to work. I figured out swipe to clear notifications mod and deleted it right after. lol. I just wanted to do it to see if I could. lol

i completely disagree about the two side by side being "just as smooth". when i look at the 15fps version on the left its choppy and shitty, and when i focus on the 30fps on the right its smooth and fluid. when i look at the whole picture i can tell NO difference, but when i focus on one and then the other, its like night and day. it makes it go from looking digital/crappy/cheap to looking fluid/seamless/smooth. i guess some people are just more anal about it than others :hmmmm2:

"The human eye and its brain interface, the human visual system, can process 10 to 12 separate images per second, perceiving them individually.[1] The visual cortex holds onto one image for about one-fifteenth of a second, so if another image is received during that period an illusion of continuity is created, allowing a sequence of still images to give the impression of motion. Early silent films had a frame rate from 14 to 24 FPS which was enough for the sense of motion, but it was perceived as jerky motion... There are three main frame rate standards in the TV and movie-making business: 24p, 25p, and 30p."

Frame rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is why.

UPDATE: well somehow i broke it...this mod definitely needs some major work...changing ANY setting inside the camera app or a random reboot renders it useless.. and waiting hours for it to "fix" itself is out of the question...why does this feel like torture? DAMN YOU METRO AND LG!!! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!!

Losing my mind over this isnt a concern becuz i lost mine years ago :p
Whats perplexing is the fact that this issue is only relevant to the Esteem and no other Android device...thats enuff to make me pull my hair follicles one by one...whats even more disturbing is the guy who fashioned this mod doesnt know how to refashion it to be problem-free...DAMMIT I WISH I WAS A SOFTWARE ENGINEER

well damn

I think this hasn't been touched since because I don't some modders can be bothered with the recording quality. Like I said before, worked for me once and never worked again. I think the modders are more concerned on making this phone run as smooth as possible with great battery life.

Wasn't talking about you loosing your mind. ;)

Some people act ungrateful is all.
