Neat ROM

How do you keep your data / wifi folks?

I mean, Do you use any battery app such as Juice defender or you turn on-off wifi / data manually? Do you turn sync on or not?

I would llike to know how you handle this. Maybe some of you keep data on all the time or turn it off after checking e-mails and so. Same with wifi.

Please, let me know cause I would like to find a middle point between saving battery and keeping things up to date.

Thank you!

I just leave it to be honest. When I'm at home or somewhere with wifi I turn it on, when I'm done turn it off. The only time I leave it on is at home cause it doesn't seem to eat too much.

I never touch data control. My hot mails & emails sync every couple of hours.

Two things. First,Sale sent hits phone to repair center. So, he won't have it for the next 8 days.
Two, I have the latest neat lite ROM. Wifi takes much longer to connect. It's this ok? Should I change default modem?
Thanks again,

I'm on LPI with LPX baseband vesrion (is that modem?).
i've had bad signal ever since upgrading to LPI. battery life is poorer as well.

i think i'm going to go back to 1.2 lite which i think is LPG?

edit: also wanted to add that GPS takes longer to acquire my location.

How long have u been on LPI? The battery can, & does sometimes, take a cycle or 2 to 'settle'. I flashed LPI last nite & my battery today isn't amazing but i'll wait another day or 2 before comparing against LPG.

My signal is a bit all over place today too but I honestly don't know if that's just where I am. Haven't heard many complaints re signal.

My wi-fi & gps are probably a bit slower than I've had previously, but not much.

You dont need the jkay restore after you've done a full wipe
the restore is only needed after you flashed jkay and want to go back to stock framework.

You need to start over again. As you already did the Odin Stock preliminary step (not needed, but a good idea nonetheless) then all you need to do is the following:

1. Run my ROM Nuke
2. Install Neat LPG
3. Boot and run the Android setup wizard to initialise your ROM
4. Depending on neat version, if you want Siyah, reboot and install it.
5. Install your usual mods.
6. Install JKay LPG framework.

If you are happy that all is working as it should at this point, take a CWM backup. Only then, consider your circle battery

Here are the ones I've made up myself, and I know these work:
JKay Blue Circle Battery
JKay Green Circle Battery

Mine's a Guinness by the way.
:p

Me Again!

Thanks for ur technical help with this but I've all bit given up now. Spent yesterday afternoon slowly flashing LPI, following ur steps.
Phone runs nicely but battery problem remained! BLN also not working & my signals all over the place (don't know if it's down to LPI firmware I flashed off of sammobile)

Don't give up cozins17!

For reasons too numerous to go into, I completely re-flashed my phone from the ground up, over the weekend.

Unlike yourself, I used the LPG stock firmware as a base and then added LPI NEAT ROM, kernels, frameworks. etc:

Basically, I took my own advice that I posted here to Syd.

My initial install was on a Factory Reset and erasure of USB storage.

I have to say, that after all the time and effort, it was worth it to have a fast, slick, phone, working at 100% and with all the detritus, from previous ROM's and flashings, gone. Saved about 4GB of space.

I've been on LPI for a week and a bit now, so definitely not likely to see improvement.

another question, what is "siyah battery profile/app" that people talk of? i have the siyah kernel installed but don't see anything where i can change view battery settings.

You can either access one of the three profiles, Default, Battery or performance, via Recovery and kernel options or by downloading the ExTweaks Pro version from the Play Store.

I say I'm almost giving up but I have the bug and know deep down I will try as, as annoyed as I get, I don't like being beaten! Plus the abundance of technical guru's such as urself I can pester almost 24/7 :-D

I may revert to LPG stock with LPI as so far I'm not impressed, but that could be down to other things.

As u mentioned your factory reset & internal usb wipe... Did you have to flash stock through Odin before it would let u turn phone back on?

Did I not mention my 6 month secondment to help the poor and needy in Beverly Hills! ;)

I just used LPG as the ICS base. If you want to go the whole hog, you could even format your SD card and re-load it again.

A Factory Reset is done whilst the phone is on and only deletes the data off of it. The firmware is still there. I then put the phone in Download mode and flashed LPG via Odin. I re-started the phone and re-rooted it and made a nandroid back-up of the stock LPG for future reference as this is my new baseline in case of future problems.

i have installed TouchwizUX but i accidentally selected normal touchwiz as my default, how do i change default launchers?

Settings - Applications - All - Find and tap on "twlauncher" - Scroll down to "CLEAR DEFAULTS". Untick and you should be set!Find the other launcher and tick the default option.

Settings > Applications > All > Touchwiz (normal)... and clear the default button. Re-boot phone.

Kapow! Double Ninja'd
:car:

By the way, there is no need to reboot. After you have cleared defaults, all you need to do is press the Home key and you will get the choice again.

Still on 1.2 here and why would I want to change after these results?

The only thing bugging me is this Network location wakelock . Now I remember the old settings for Google maps but these settings do not exist anymore on the app. It has changed alot and no gps options at all in the app anymore. :(

That's pretty good!

What have u tweaked?

NEAT 1.2 , Siyah 3.3 with battery profile enabled, underclocked 100-1000 , Baseband modem LQ5 .

Few mods installed including latest jkay with nexus ICS theme.

Where can I download version 1.2 from? It's not on the developer xda anymore. At least I can't find it.
Thanks.

Again, thanks!
