New Firmware

Anyone having problems with the wap.o2.co.uk APN after upgrading?

This APN did used to work, and I'm sure it was working yesterday after flashing, although today It won't connect after being on the Wi-fi at home.

The odd thing being I added mobile.o2.co.uk (User mobileweb password web) and that one seems to connect ok.

Not sure if it's the firmware or if perhaps the wap.o2.co.uk APN is playing up today.

check apn settings (MCC,MNC,...)

It was part of the CSC afaik, the odd thing was I swear it connected to that APN ok after i'd flashed it, oh well it seems happy enough to use mobile.o2.co.uk

I doubt o2 will have a problem with it, I used to use that APN before and they still counted it as part of my data bolton when billing.

On the positive side my phone seems to be a lot better at actually connecting to wi-fi networks, before it would often find them but refuse to connect.

O2 seems to be having severe problems today, I've not been able to connect for hours and other comments on the net suggest the same.

I do wonder if the mobile.o2.co.uk apn would be a better choice for the galaxy anyway, unless I get charged for it might just leave it on that one ;)

Sorry if this has been already answered. But has this firmware been officially released somewhere or is it a leak? Anyway, it looks like Google Market is open for it. I can see My Backup Pro again...

First day with IK4 and I can say that is a little bit snappier as other people said previously, maybe it's also because it was like a factory reset for me, it erased all my apps and settings  previous firmware upgrades didn't do that to me. 3D is working fine too.

I can't report on battery life still but I'm at 86% (turned on after full charge 9 hours ago) which is better than normal by my past experience with it.

The only thing I'm a little mad about is that the stock Android keyboard is strangely stuck to English, no matter how many times I change the language to Spanish in the Android Settings, the rest of the menus are shown in Spanish as normal. Does anybody have a similar problem?

The Samsung keyboard is nice, wordcorrection is fast and it does correctly change between languages with the button for that purpose, but I'm having a hard time getting used to it because I just hate the popup to change between letters and numbers...

I just switched to k4 yeaterday. So far, battery seems to drain just as quickly as before. Phone is not as snappy as it was with GalaxHero 1.1. And the better keyboard app is still much better than any of the ones that have come with the phone.

turn off your auto-sync, factory reset and then reboot the phone a few times and check spare tools.

my battery doesn't even go down when I'm not using it anymore. (sometimes it goes up haha..) i lose 3% per night, so a full day's use (email, stocks, browser for a sum of like an hour) drains to 80%.

this firmware rocks.

2 factory resets, battery life still much the same. the phone is actually a bit sluggish compared to galaxhero for me. for example, even after i kill everything that is running, when i press the apps tab at the bottom (what is it called?) it is a bit choppy when it slides up. if i slide back and forth with my thumb to make it go up and down it isn't as smooth as it was with galaxhero. just not as responsive. and i tested the compass today against a real compass. it was not that accurate. it points north, then i flip the phone around and when the arrow settles down again (on a perfectly flat surface) it is pointing about 15 degrees off--the same as with the last firmware. any comments from anyone who has used both? should i just go back to galaxo or should i try downloading and reflashing k4? (or are people working on an updated galaxo using this?

@Rastaman-FB: The clock is the latest Beautiful Widgets from market.
@buntoid: GalaxHero and Galaxo are both based on II5, so yes, this should work. But make a backup with Nandroid before, just in case ;)

this can be used on galaxhero as thats the one i was on, just make sure you download the one for galaxo and not ik4

they made a typing error as galaxo is not on 1.1.1 like galaxhero and they link to the galaxhero.

always do a nandroid back up

im buying beautiful widgets me thinks ;P

Ok thanks.
So if I want to revert back to my original GalaxHero before applying the theme, is the only way a nandroid restore?

@buntoid: You could also use adb und pull all your original files (the ones that will be replaced) to your harddisk (just have a look into the update.zip). And if you don't like the new look you could then just use adb again and push them back to your phone...

EDIT: For all the IK4-users, I created an update.zip-package with the original IK4-files, so if you don't like the new look you can easily go back to the original look (but only IK4, sorry guys, I don't use GalaxHero or Galaxo anymore).
You can find this package in the android-hilfe.de-thread I linked above.

Thanks indeed! Now I will definitely try those themes, as there's much less hassle now to revert )
