New Likes System Installed

For me, thanks is for the user's street cred, like is for the post's street cred. So pretty much, if a user is being helpful, they will get a thanks, if the users post goes a long way towards answering the question at hand, I'll give a thanks and a like.
 
The "Like" and "Thanks" features | buttons are optional. Choose either one or both (for that matter) depending on the circumstance. It's just that simple. :)
 
I've merged this thread in order to consolidate the discussion within the existing thread. :)
 
Most times I use Tapatalk and the Phandroid app.

So, it would be nice when the Phandroid would have the option to give a Like :)

The option to "like" a member post or thread is now becoming the norm on a few forums. I'm looking forward to seeing what other new and exciting features will be implemented. ♥
 
Here's my take on this matter...

1.) Placing a "likes" received under the "thanked" posts would be nice (now that its being use quite frequently).

2.) Personally, I've always wanted the option of choosing either one or both buttons ("like or thanks") when needed. √

3.) I don't think that most members are even aware of the "like" button because of where its position. If the decision is made to keep this feature _ I would suggest placing it alongside the other buttons below.

4.) If its possible, could the like notification be disabled/enabled? Why? (Reason): I don't want to assume that the notification on my profile is indeed a confirmation from a liked post and not a private message or a friend request. シ

Overall, this is a great idea and marked the beginning of an era.
 
^^^ Yes! Since becoming a Guide and PMing a lot of folks for thread moves, I'd like to only have notifications for PMs and not for Thanks.
Can this feature be added?
 
One option, I understand, is to import all the Thanks from the thanks system into the Likes system. That way Steven's pride could stay intact!

Seriously, I think the colorful aspect like when a bunch of staff thanks particular posts is an important thing to consider. Likes are all blue where thanks are color coded. A nitwit post thanked by a bunch of spammers looks as good as a rockstar post thanked by the entire staff.
 
Would there be a way to just combine the numbers in statistics?

Liked/Thanked: xxx times

They could be sorted separately in the profile page if that is wanted, but combined under the avatar on the left side?


Also do any of the site reading/posting apps (phandroid/tapatalk/forum runner) make it possible to "like"? That's still my biggest negative to this whole thing.
 
Good point AC13, neither forum runner or TT support the likes thing but both support thanks.

edit: meant to quote Phases post about Steven keeping his pride, will edit that post.
 
It appears that when a thread has reached triple digit likes that it messes up the rendering on the right side of the screen.

Today the thanks button in Tapatalk has disappeared :confused: ... for this forum.
And all thanks in the posts are disappeared too.

Has this something to do with the new Likes system?

In other forums Tapatalk shows the thanks button further.

No, it's an issue that has popped up since the outage this morning, it's been brought up in a separate thread in here.

I love the new look so far. Hopefully we'll see the "like" button being placed amongst the other buttons below.
