Root Newest Android Market (July 15th, 2011)

Ok, since that other thread got brought up, I wanted to start a thread on the actual new Market that popped up yesterday. Anybody have luck installing? I had ZERO luck, instant force close running Velocity 1.1.
 
Dumb question, but how do you install it? Is it an update in the market? I'll install it then logcat opening it if you can point me to the obvious.

EDIT: Wait, is this the real thing, or just an apk someone grabbed from somewhere? Is it the official update?
 
Someone in irc came in and asked about it two nights ago. IIRC after he installed it and it didnt work d2a told him to go into recovery and choose fix pmissions and then it worked.

No idea if this'll work 100%
 
That was me in irc but it didnt work, i said it worked referring to getting the normal market back and i fixed it with permissions. the new market still wont work for me :(
 
What was the recent android market version? Im not talking about this one, the one before this.

Nvm i got back to the other market. lol dont upgrade!
 
couldnt you just boot into recovery and fix uid mismatch packages? that should solve it right?

Edit: it does force close....grrr i will go back... maybe to velocity 1.0 then upgrade with it...
 
I installed the Market.apk from the beginning of this thread on both my Ally and Nookcolor and it works great. Kind of reminds me of Winphone7 though.
 
I'm running the new Market on dautley's stock 2.2.2 nandroid. It's very sharp; I have to get used to the interface, because it's a complete overhaul from the last Market. My only complaint is that sometimes, when I'm prompted to update one single app, the "Update" option never shows up. I'll have to manually force stop the Market, restart it, and hope the option appears (no problems when multiple apps require updates.)
 
I haven't ran into a single app other than Netflix that Velocity 1.1 won't run. Course my build.prop is edited.

Yea the only issue i've had is the new Pandora on velocity 1.1, all I had to do was install an older version (1.4.1) and now it works flawlessly.

I personally don't understand why people would downgrade their ROM just to upgrade their market.

I can't believe I just read this, Velocity 1.2 is becoming worthless? All of you guys who think the new Pandora not running is a Velocity error, think again. My wife's completely stock, unrooted Ally won't run it either. I had to find an older APK of it for her so she could listen to it again. Netflix not working? It's clearly a limitation of the Ally with the current software (2.2.2). Getitnowmarketing's Gretel project actually played Netflix I've heard. Please don't blame Velocity as the source of the problems you're having. I can see why some of the devs have just given up and said f*#$ it.

Aside from pandroid, Google Maps, SwiftkeyX, and various games won't run properly under Velocity 1.1 either but will under stock 2.2.2.
I know it might be hard for some to accept but I have the right to run what I choose on my phone. Sorry your stunned with disbelief.

I'm not knocking you for choosing whatever you want to run on your phone. It is exactly that, your phone. I was just shocked to see you say Velocity 1.2 is becoming worthless. That's it.

Aside from that, I'm sure the Ally scene is dead, and hopefully I'll be getting a different phone in the near future. Trident, d2a, GNM, Savoxis, thanks a lot for making the phone bearable and fun to use/mod/flash stuff to.
 
Has anyone got this to work? I went back to stock and I loved it. Re-flashed Velocity 1.1 and it doesn't work :(
