Next big phone after Desire?

Although I like the Atrix's spec and functionality, if the dock is going to be as much as we expect, I probably wouldnt bother. I dont think I actually like the look of teh handset and design is very important to me.

I've got a year to go on the desire, so its too early to look into this for me.
 
I am due an upgrade in august. I have been looking at the LG Optimus 2x and the Galaxy S2. It will most likely be one of them unless HTC bring out something better. I would never buy a sony phone again, to many bad experiences with them.

not the point im making
i wouldnt buy a laggy phone regardless of what it boasts if it costs as much as that phone does
some people might but imo its a bad move.
only good thing about it is the screen, which is phenomenal
 
I am upgrading in august. I have heard by then at least one quad core phone should be out. So I think I shall wait for that.
 
tbh, I really like the physical keys and the trackball on the Desire...
Pity they will be removed on the Desire S.

I disagree, especially if you are being tied into a long contract. If it was me, i'd rather wait a month and get a phone that will truly last me 2 years.

Haven't heard the screen variations, but the cpu may well be. Samsung make the screens so its unlikely they'd run out, then didn't run out with the galaxy s.

Oh i didn't say that i didn't believe you, i just couldn't believe that without a dual core phone on the market, a quad core one will be out 6 months later. With contracts at 18-24m, why would anyone opt for that 6 months earlier?

It does only seem to mention tablets in that review though. Plus....how big will the battery need to be? We're already struggling to support single core phones.

Same here, my contract ends in April 2012 but I can upgrade in Jan. I can't help but torture myself by looking at all the new models though ;)

I'm going to wait it out until April and move back to O2 I think, I get terrible coverage with Orange :(
 
I'm not sure what I am going to do with regards to Carrier. I am with O2 and currently unlimited data plan.

That no longer exists. In retrospect, I should have gone Simplicity and kept that rolling but i didnt have the cash to buy the handset out-right. Really wish I had now though.

The Amoled shortage is there: Desire got switched from Amoled to SLCD, HTC couldn't get any more Amoleds from Samsung for its top range, and Samsung itself is phasing out the production of Galaxy S (targeting SGS2), bringing out the Galaxy SL with LCD screen (I know it is not a 100% Galaxy S).

Anyway, we are starting to see some good reviews of Optimus 2X. Hopefully, SGS2 reviews will come also quickly.

Doesn't matter how long does it, thats the beauty of not signing a contract!

Well it depends. It matters if they stop it before I get there ;)

It also matters if I port my number over then after a month, its no longer unlimited and I am in the same boat as before.

Not having a contract can be good for the consumer, but it also means the operator has nothing to abide by too. Of course you can then just leave, but then you have to look all over again.
 
If you are one unlimited data already can you not just keep the same deal as you are on now when you upgrade? Thats what I was planning on doing.

I have in the past been able to keep the same contract and get a handset with it, but I doubt they will let us do that anymore since the new tariffs are in their best interest. But what if I have my heart set on a handset they do not offer?
 
I have the same problem. I'm just going to see what o2 can offer me when its time to upgrade. 3 are the only company as far as I know that offer unlimited data on contract at the moment. They offer 5000 free texts, 2000 any time any network free minutes and unlimited data from
 
Thats good, but I've never been sure of their coverage. I've heard people on teh buss trying to get out of their 3 contract in leeds
 
Well I have a 3 mobile dongle and I can tell you its a lot better than o2 for 3G/HSDPA. Very fast for mobile broadband. I used to have a vodafone dongle and I had to swap to 3, cant fault 3 reception tbh.
