Oh the epic GNex thread, of which many ballads have been sung. I am a bit disappointed this thread isn't nearly as insane.
As a GNexer I think I'll be going this route over the other options right now. I barely hit over a gig of data now and would fit in well with the AT&T prepaid plan. I'm on wi-fi all the time and I get zero data in my house with Verizon anyway.
I just feel like giving up stock Android and easy rooting is too much, even with an unlimited plan now. A GPE is really out of my price range.
While my crack flashing has decreased greatly on the GNex, I still want to have that option open to me. We all know that Android developers come up with stuff that we never even knew we needed.
That said, I hope the 28th is the day. As much as I still love my GNex, I'd really like to comfortably through a day on a charge and all the other perks of a new phone.
All these rumors are just grasping for straws. Its all fun in the beginning but then just becomes ridiculous. I'll just sit back and wait "patiently" until Google themselves say something.
For those of you saying you're leaving Verizon for this phone (I will likely be one of you), please tell them why you're leaving!
I'd encourage you to mention the lack of Nexus, but more importantly their insisting on locking the bootloaders of their devices and putting massive amounts of bloatware on their devices.
I don't think we represent even a fraction of their customer base, but it doesn't hurt to tell them why you're leaving, be it via email/twitter/facebook/letter/etc.
I agree totally with this. People who want a Nexus device or even one with bootloaders need to be so vocal about their choice of carriers.
Also, I think we should call them out on the hypocrisy of the GPE editions of phones. Why should it cost double for the same phone but with an unlockable bootloader? They're ok with those phones being on their network as long as we're willing to pay such a premium for it. It's not like the GNex wrecked their precious network two years after its release.

I'm right there too. Switching from an unlimited plan on VZW to AT&T.
While perusing twitter for nexus 5 info I found a guy that posted how he was switching from vzw because of it and a vzw support guy actually replied and asked why he would do such a thing. I'll tried to dig it up, its pretty funny.
Someday they'll learn that's not all that matters

Is anyone considering going with a Moto X on Republic Wireless over this? The monthly pricing alone almost makes it worth putting up with any Sprint network shortcomings.
I have had a lot of issues with Sprint, but the fact RW has a decent phone and its price structure is crazy, makes it very tempting. And Sprint's network is supposedly getting better too (although I will be likely the very last market upgraded).
There are only two things holding me back. One is my past experiences with Sprint (much of it is the data speed) and two is going RW will lock me into a CDMA carrier with a phone that will only work on that one CDMA carrier. That alone makes me want to go Nexus 5.
I will likely go Nexus 5. Is anyone else trying to decide between these two phones?
I only pay 30 dollars per month (plus sales tax) on T-Mobile and am quite happy. I wouldn't go back to a CDMA carrier unless it was free, lol.
I'd be all over the $30 plan if it weren't for the fact I only have edge in my area. Considering I'd need more than 100 minutes of talk a month, I'd need to use Google Voice. I'm guessing edge is not going to cut it for VOIP. I could do the basic Tmobile family plan with 500mb of high speed data (don't need the higher allotment since I only have edge anyway) and I'd get unlimited voice and text and data. I can't imagine edge being any more painful than Sprint's data in my area. During peak times like the evening, I would have trouble getting more than 56k speeds on Sprint.

My problem with Republic is that, up to now, they don't have LTE. It looks like they may be getting LTE with the Moto X, but it looks like the plan cost for 4G is $40 a month. I'm not going to pay $300 for a phone that can only be used on a single carrier, especially when they want $40 a month for 4G.
