Nexus 5 Pre-Release/Speculation Thread

There have not been any kitkats with codes on them to my knowledge here. Haven't seen any Android branding. Guess I'll have to check my next one closely.

I haven't seen them at any location other than target this far. It seems all other locations still have old stock.
 
I know nothing is 100% right now since it hasn't even been announced, but I'm in a bind and may need to switch to carriers ASAP. My current phone isn't holding a charge at all and when I try to charge it, it takes me forever to try and get a connection (bad port). I have no backup phone, so I will probably just signup with a new carrier and get a new phone on contract and sell it once the N5 is released. Not ideal I know, but oh well.

That being said, how sure are we that the Nexus 5 will be going to AT&T and/or T-Mobile?

If the FCC log for the D820 is the Nexus 5 like we all think it is, 100% that it will work on both.

There is no code really. All you need is the UPC code and since it is all you need you just keep using the same ones every day.

In the U.S. you need the actual code from inside one w/ Android packaging. I got 4 of them from a local Wegman's and only 1 checkout aisle had them. Too bad I could only read 1 of the codes. Other 3 had printing errors.
 
Operation turn my old tech into a new nexus 5 is a go.

Ill be selling the S3, 2012 nexus 7 and likely the gnex once I get the nex 5 in hand

Should give me plenty for a 32gb. Maybe even a wireless charging orb ;)

Since the Nexus 4 isn't for sale anymore, I wonder how much they're worth? Can't afford to put it up for sale until I secure a 5. I could probably still get 100-125 for my Verizon Gnex.

Swappa is a good starting place to see what they're selling for. They even provide a visual of the average selling price over the last several months.

Yeah, I had a feeling the market would be saturated with them. Doesn't help that I have 2 of them :p. Both the GF and I want to update to Nexus 5's from 4's because reapplying the LTE hacks after every rom flash gets annoying after a while, plus it would be nice to have AT&T LTE just in case we need to swap carriers when traveling to an area with poor T-Mobile coverage. So I'll have 2 Verizon Gnex's, 2 Nexus 4's, and since I'm also interested in upgrading my TF700 to a TF701 to get rid of horrible lag caused by cheap hardware, I'll have that as well. That tab is suppose to come out on November 3rd. Going to be an interesting couple of weeks for buying/selling devices. :rolleyes:

I'm on a family plan while I'm finishing up grad school. Had an upgrade available (on AT&T) and bought an iPhone 5s on launch day. Bought it for 200 and sold it later that day for 760. If Google keeps the next Nexus smartphone at 350 as well, with that money I'll be able to buy a Nexus 5 this year and another new Nexus next year and still come out on top :-)

So my suggestion would be to buy an iPhone because their resale value can't be beat.
 
Any word if Google will have enough stock this time around? I remember the N4 being sold out until the following year.

Hoping to get this around Xmas time, that's why.

That was my thinking too, but how much does it drop the value if I use it? That also is the problem too...using an iPhone. I had to set one up for a family member one time and I wanted to throw it against the wall after 5 minutes. I was thinking about a G2.
 
Be aware that AT&T only sells mobile share plans now which are just as bad of a ripoff as Verizon's share everything plans. Rather that do that, you're better off saving money by using a prepaid service. It will save you much more in the long run. In 1 year, I save almost 1300 dollars using my T-Mobile prepaid plan over a Verizon contact plan, much better than the quick 550 profit of selling a contract iPhone at full retail.

Using an iPhone won't hurt the resale value nearly as much as a G2. Ya, using it while you wait for the Nexus 5 can be cumbersome, but I think from a financial stand point it makes more sense.

Yep spot on. I can't believe people still think they're getting these $700-$800 dollar phones for $200. You're not, you're paying for it with an extortionate plan. Unfortunately it's worse in the US than almost anywhere else.

Also, I can see Google showing up the new Google Play store showing us a new/ updated UI and show us the device page and briefly show us the Nexus 5 with a hint or just simply show us a release date.

Trolling us yet again, but not really announcing it lol

Kind of like Michael Scott yelling Bankruptcy and expecting something to happen.. "I didn't yell it.. I declared it." lol
 
Article lost a lot of credibility when it says the battery is 2700mAh. We've known for a while it's 2300mAh.
