Notification light

Here's what I wish I'd have done 3 weeks ago, take it to the store and let them either fix it or give you a new one. After messing with mine for 3 weeks I finally did that, to find out that the bulb was burned out, and since I had it over 14 days they couldn't exchange it at the store, warranty had to send me one... :)

It SUX for a hardware issue to arise, especially out-of-the-box,I've been there myself & have seen friends phones as well,a camera flash dead on arrival, for instance.

I'm just glad that AT&T didn't give ya a bunch of flack ("You're holding it wrong,LOL") :p & took care of it. :D

Hope I can help. I had the same issue and after lots of searching and reading I found a fix. It's a crappy fix but it works. It seems to be the Google restore option when you set up your phone. You have to do a factory reset, skip the option to restore using Google.

When your done setting up your phone, manually download your apps and you have working led notifications

Factory reset sucks I know. But it worked for me and others

That's why I took it to the service center instead of handling it with some tech over the phone. Lol They treated me like royalty at the store, so it was a very pleasant experience.

Yeah!! Same here., my LED light doesn't work either except for charging.. Even though its so dang small u can't see it blink, but I still want it to work... I have all the settings on... I even returned the phone to vzw and got a new one.. Still doesn't blink for notifications at all.... Maybe its a known defect and they'll fix it in an update

On the M8 my notification light doesn't notify when I have a message or anything... All the settings are turned on... Light only works when charging... Even though the light is tiny the size of a pinhole and that u can't see it, I still want it to work.... I brought the phone back to VZW and got a new one since it was within the 14 days... Still doesn't work.. Love the phone though... Anyone have similar problem with the m8?

I agree, on both points, sweet phone and functional is good! I really meant that I hope that after all of this my new phone doesn't have the same issue, but you know what, I'll take a Non functional notification light M8 still over any other phone!!!

i think standard action is that led stops after 5 minutes.. well it does on mine anyway :-\

5 minute rule? Never heard of that before on any phone.... Mines never works, only comes on when charging.... It has to be some kind of defect with the m8.. Maybe it'll fix with an update

Yeah this notification light is the only issue that I've had with mine, but I still Love the phone! I'll bet that they're working on it.

The M7 notification led flashed for a 5 minute period too, although strangely enough mine stopped working for notifications some months ago. Still works fine as the charge indicator so it doesn't bother me at all, in fact I had it disabled for most of the notification options anyway.

I've never bothered trying to find out why it stopped working - it is the only thing that a 'wipe cache partition' hasn't sorted in the 10 months I've had the M7, and I still love it to bits!!

:)

I will be getting the M8 soon, but i may have a fix for the LED problem. You need to be in a setting called "pulse notification light". If you have KitKat, it should be >settings>display and lights>pulse notification light. Add the color and speed of the LED on that page. I don't know if you'll get the full range of colors, but you should get a flashing LED.:p

I don't see it anywhere, but no matter on mine, since tech confirmed that my LED is burned out... If I have an issue with the replacement I'll look into it again.
