Root Odin (Return phone to Stock/Factory)

I recently partitioned my sd card and now that I am trying to flash fe16 with odin it says failed partition size too big. should I repartition the sd card? and if so, to what size for the primary partition

is anyone else having a problem with odin rebooting their device? odin says reboot but it doesnt reboot the device. it sits there until it times out..

im a noob with this phone.. but ive uninstalled and reinstalled them three times to no avail...

[edit] is there another way to force a reboot?

If it's not rebooting, then the files are probably not being installed either... Try plugging the phone into a different usb port on the computer.

sadly ive gone through all 5 usb ports and nothing... is there a way to install the files in the .tars using an update zip? my first try resulted in it only partially installing the files and now my phone is stuck searching for service... im going crazy trying to get this all to work..

@hroark13
Hey I'm new to this whole rooting thing, the build number for my phone is gingerbread.ff19 was wondering if u could provide me the right links.for Odin and the right Samsung drivers
Thankx

it keeps saying big partition size and freezes halfway through almost every time.. i did everything the way the guide said. would ff19 be the problem? then again even if it is i cant get it to go back to fe16...

And download "usbdeview"
In options make it show disconnected devices n delete all fone related drivers. Then reinstall fone drivers.

that makes no difference to you cuz you boost prl not sprint. I checked every sprint prl and there had never been evdo for 650 in your area. 550 or 675 but not 650. idk how to check boost prl. bet you 61007 what you want cuz since 61008 new it prolly not reach you yet. especially if sprint never even made it there

maybe this is the wrong thread for this but you sound like somebody that might know. What is the best way to check what prl will work best in your area?

Batonrougebroadband.info

Lists sprint prls

I recommend 60690 (wat I use) or 12124

Look in thread titled Sprint PRLs

If neither of those help and stock boost prls suck then u just bad location.

Further discussion should be in one of prl threads. Read thru them too

Thanks, Ive used that site before. If the sid is the same for my area in multiple prls, does that mean they will all be the same? None better than the other?

Not sure if you got an answer yet but I was having the same issue and it was usb connection problem. Once I changed usb cable all worked well.

I've been researching this for a while (my prevail is just getting too full of crap I can't delete) but I still need a few answers. If anyone could help me out, that'd be great!

1. Since Oneclick Root no longer works, is installing the Odin images in this thread the only viable way to root my galaxy prevail?

2. After I install (and apparently wipe the phone to factory default), will I have to reenter any of the information I need to reconnect to my phone service provider?

3. It seems that the backup methods (titanium root, the odin image creator in this thread) require rooting. This kinda defeats the purpose of backing up. Is there some way to backup without rooting first?

Thanks!!!!

yes

the only thing you need to do is sign back into your Google account (to get your contacts back + play store info if any)

not really, but if you install just cwm, you can back up the stock rom, but some people have been unable to restore the stock backup...

Thanks!!!!

so i used oden to go back to stock. mainly because i wanted to use cm7 and it said i had to be on the ejo6. i was on the fa19 rooted. wasent sure if i could use oden to go to ejo6 from fa19. so i chose to go to stock and then reroot with ejo6. in the process of goin to stock i did something wrong i guess. the counter is now on 30mins now and still not finished. will it hurt something if i just unplug and start over? or how should i go bout starting over?
