Root Odin (Return phone to Stock/Factory)

yes i read the whole thread
yes im in download mode...the screen says downloading in yellow
and i have tried diffrent usb ports but not a diffrent cpu

Try rebooting your computer, sometimes that adb.exe does not close out and that can interfere with the usb port, make sure no other programs are running that use the usb ports like Kies, then i would try a different usb cable, and then different computer

ok and you think you can tell me why my screen is all black afer i un lock and this message appers>>>>>the application setup wizard (process com.android.setwizard) has stoped unepectedly). please try again

sounds like you have a bad usb cable or some other usb related issue with the computer, that may be why shabby did not install correctly.

get odin working with my previous suggestions, once you flash with odin, you can start over with the shabby mod

I had my prevail rooted it was on ED13. It was having so issues so I made the mistake of contacting samsung. They had told me to go into setting and do a factory reset so I did. When to phone rebooted it gets to the boostmobile logo and just sits there and vibrates. I had followed the steps in the first post. It will go through all the steps as long as I dont have it do anything with the pda.tar. If I do it comes back as:
start
check download environment
e- big partition size
killed timer

and then says fail. Am I doing something wrong or is this phone just totally messed up?

NVM I got it. I needed to use the 4.42 version of odin. Thanks for the files hroark13 in your first post and instructions Greatest android forum ever.

can this .ops file be made into a .pit file i have a mesmerize i am trying to program and flash with boost files(unlock) but the odin v 4.4s files do not compat with the odin3 one asks for ops the other asks for pit

ok... every time I download the files it says its corrupted when I extract using winrar... why is that? I've downloaded both files multiple times, and same result each time.

I'm trying to remove shabbymod 0.9 Loaded because I rooted the phone fine, but when I rebooted it the 3G data was gone. I cant use anything that has to do with data access. Phone and MMS is fine, but now I cant browse or update PRL or anything data related

it sounds like your getting a corrupted download, what browser are you using?
I use firefox no problems with mine.
You also could try 7zip instead of winrar

Samsung gives open source info for the kernel, because thats all they have to do, but nothing else (at least that is what I hear)

What I suggest you do is examine how the partitions are structured on the phone, then find another samsung phone with a similar partition structure that already has odin and cwm.

The prevail is similar to the galaxy ace, so alot of what i did was mimick someone elses work, dont get me wrong, I spent alot of time on creating the Odin image and learning how everything works.

I also created a ClockWorkMod, and I used alot of info from people who did the Ace.

What you want to look for is a Samsung phone thats has the same cpu or similar cpu than the Mesmerize, that has alot to do with the way they design the phone and file system

ok thanks for the tip i know the fascinate is the sister phone to the mesmerize(and my apologies)i know this is a prevail forum just trying to learn or attempt to open boost on this phone do you know if the package you have has a modem.bin file?

no prevail uses /dev/bml4

which is amss

which is the baseband / modem

which is common on Qualcom msm7xxx samsung phones and maybe others

youve got it all wrong, you cant flash these files and expect it to load up on boost, the mesmerize has it's own little section, what your talking about doing is flashing that phone to boost correct? if so youll need to do some grey area things which im pretty sure this forum doesnt let you talk about, so just google esn boost etc. from there youll just need to put in the correct apn settings and prl and you should be fine.

might wanna check with some of teh mez devs (dfgas, imnuts etc etc)

It saved my ass. But my Titanium Backup Pro won't work with the rooted version of this program. I'll try again, and I'll also try the unrooted version as well.

This program is real life saver though, kudos to the developer. Now I would love to see a version for Linux, or source code so I could make version for Linux.

I did not make Odin, that has been around for a while, and I am not sure who makes it.

The only thing I did was figure out how to make the Odin images for this phones partition structure.

I was only able to figure that out by using information from threads about the Galaxy Ace, and Galaxy Mini which have a similar cpu and partition structrue.

its a leaked program from samsung, loki is teh name of the system running on the phone aka "download" mode. and then you have heimdall which is the open source mac/linux/windows version of odin :)

You can also backup your phone with the ClockWorkMod I made
