So what exactly is Stage Fright and what does enabling it actually do?

Yes, I Googled for 'stage fright android' and all I could figure out was that it was some new media playback framework included in Android starting with Eclair 2.0. So why does Motorola have it disabled by default and why does it make the Quadrant score go up?

Ahh... This thread has made me feel much better. Is the only problem I was having after going to 2.2. Thought I had messed something up. lol

Sucks that its happening now, but glad I'm not alone. :P

When I rooted my original droid and installed 2.2 I had the same problem with ADW. Not sure why and the dev never responded to my inquiries. Launcher Pro solved all my fc problems ;)

Yup running it. I had it on my Droid for a few months so I've seen most of this already. I had to install it for chrome to phone. I missed that. I missed the Market and the comments having their own tab.

Just like with the Droid and the vanilla launcher, the Blur launcher is still no match for Launcher Pro, even with Froyo.

I like the changes to Battery Manager.

I used to use this app on my old non-smart phone. I cancelled it when I moved to the DX. It was always an option in the Verizon section of the market. Now they are just making it more visible. Trying to sucker ppl into paying for something they can get for free. Having used both I find Nav to be the superior product.

This thread made me feel alot better, I'm just not going to worry about it any more tonight. When I wake up in the morning I'll see what's new.

In the meantime if you need to install an app you can still do it through appbrain on your phone if you have it installed already. I just tested it and it worked.

Froyo (still rooted from 2.1)
I got some FC notice (never got this on 2.1) so its still buggy. the OTA should be way better

Isn't it nice to have close to 2k plus without having to risk corrupting your sdcard/phone memory like some other phones. (not that quandrant means anything, but it is nice).

Hey, you guys seem to be trying to get fast quadrant scores. If your goal is to have the fastest android phone, you should probably return the DroidX and wait for the Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate.

Androidandme and the Developer of Quadrant benchmarking app, have both confirmed the Samsung Galaxy S phones have the fastest GPU and CPU.
If you are running the free standard Quadrant you will be tricked into thinking the DroidX is faster, you need the professional version $24.99 to see that Samsung Galaxy S phones are truely faster. You can watch the video below, at 8:33 they confirm the Samsung Galaxy S is faster. You can also visit their website to see the full results with graphs, which shows the Samsung Galaxy S phones coming ahead. The only area that DroidX is faster, is in I/O, which gave an inflated quadrant free edition score. However, the Samsung Galaxy S phones have shown that with the I/O fix that many users are using, Galaxy S blows away the competition in every benchmark.

Thats good for the Samsung phones. If it doesnt have better reception or call quality than the X, u can keep it and its fastest cpu, gpu.

Thats the only reason I kept the X: nice, fast phone with excellent phone features. I been burned twice in the past by phones with weak antennas. Wont happen again.

Guess who they were made by......

Pretty happy with my 2300. Thanks though. I loved the Samsung Alias 2!

you should visit the samsung galaxy-S/captivate/vibrant threads. People are getting that score without froyo! Imagine when official froyo and I/O fix comes to samsung galaxy S, they will get like 3500 scores.

Aahh the I/O fix...or hack.....

So stock vs stock...I think the X can hold its own. Cuz u have to be rooted to apply that I/O fix/hack.

Isnt that I/O fix/hack for a lag, stall issue? I dont think the X score was inflated. I/O is read, write. It just has a monster read, write....like the Hummingbird has a monster gpu.

Doesnt having a high or good read, write means faster data transfers for harddrives? I might be wrong tho. Dont really know how that applies for smartphones.

Ya never had a dropped call on the Vibrant yet!

And in the real world, I will take my X. Does the vibrant have a stretchable screen yet?

I think we are messing with our phones all the time so when something like this happens we all think, "wtf did I do?!" lol.

I restored to a previous rom and then read that the market is actually down.

Try it in a bad reception area. I'm not saying it will drop. I never used one. But thats a good test of a phone's antenna.

All I know is I learned for using 2 Samsung phones that I will test any phone I plan on getting in bad reception areas to get a true test of their reception.
