Very true I hope it doesnt happen but even if they create a patch someone will change the code and remove the patch if its not too difficult to crack or MODS will happily take over lol :)
 
They are already rooting 2.2.1, it's just harder. I've been checking out the optimus v forum and rooting looks like a pain. Hopefully someone comes up with an easier way.

Does Icarus run Adobe Flash? So I can get rid of Skyfire?
 
Honestly I like Icarus just for the simple fact that is had no bloatware and it's fast. It also has no bugs. It works quite well for me. Icarus does not have Flash, This phone won't work with flash. I'm sure it says somewhere on this forum as to why but, I'm too tired to go hunting. Icarus gets a rid of most lag issues, It also stops most of the force closures I'd had. Then again, Not everyone has the same results I did. I like Icarus. If cm7 should become bug-free I'll move on to that. We shall see. ^^. I'm happy either way.

yes 2.2.1 is being done, but its a pain in the buns....i played around with it for about 3 hours...omg it sucks big time and the whole rooting part is not like our old faithful ascend which is a 1 click process....but with all the dev im sure there will be in the future....

CM7 is the cyannogenmod. This guy makes them for all kinds of phones but his official site has nothing for ascend. Other people makes mods based on his and call it cyannogen because it was based on his work. At least thats my understanding of it from my new friend at M-PCS. If i'm wrong someone please correct me as Ive been trying to find a cyannogenmod for this phone myself.

Neither icarus nor 2.2 will support adobe flash player. The ascend just isn't powerful enough.

I thought all 2.2 supports flash? Am I wrong? What about just watching streaming video on 2.2 or Icarus? I am able to do it on 2.1 so I know the phone is powerful enough.

Saw that post too. I think my tomorrow will be spent installing Icarus and setting things up.
 
The ascend when 2.2 WILL support flash 10.1 IF you can overclock it by way of means outside of SetCPU as it requires a 800mhrtz processor which the ascened can do, but SetCPU only goes up to 600 as that's safe. Pretty odd to go through so much to watch youtube if you ask me. Skyfire let's you watch most flash and Xscope let's you download them as mp4 files and watch them later or on your PC/laptop (if you have media player classic or some other software capable of playing mp4)

The optimus has 2.2 out of the box and it doesn't support flash. It depends on the processor being compatible. As for overclocking to 800mhz, there is no kernal available to do that currently. Skyfire converts flash on their servers then sends it back to your phone.

A cricKet rep told me that today, but thats because neither cricket nor metro r releasing an update. it is being released by Huawei themselves. Huawei already released it. they just havent released the american version yet

Can anyone tell me if they have tried this and if it works? I see all this discssion about when 2.2 will be available and if this video is for real, isn't it available now?
I downloaded the files, same ClockMod as for Icarus mod, and the froyo wifi zip, but I haven't tried the upgrade yet.

No, the lg optimus doesn't support adobe flash player either. We can still view most flash videos using the skyfire browser. I'm sure the Samsung already has flash built in if you want to spend the $400. Plus it has 4g.
 
With a better mod and CPU boost (let's say to 900 MHz), do u think it could do flash. Cuz flash works on the higher visual specs like 1ghz right?
 
Can that processor go to 900 MHz? Even if it got close, I'd bet it would be mighty hot! :eek:

The 1 GHz phones (or newer 800 MHz phones) tend to have some additional instructions and routines built into them that allows more stuff to function.

Flash is a processor hog on any platform. ;)
 
Yeah it could probably do 900MHz...for about 5 minutes then burst into flames lol. I wouldn't put it past one of these devs to wedge flash in here somehow, but the problem is most of them have moved on to other phones.
