[Official Discussion] Huawei Ascend 2.1 - 2.2 Firmware Upgrade (Info updated as received!)

Through Cricket ive gotten that text when i tried to backup my contacts
 
Seems the update of the ascend will be released shortly when the tapout edition is released with 2.2. Just hold on till then im guessing and if they dont release 2.2 on the original ascend i say we all go and protest the sh*t out of them.
 
I assume, if the new tap out version will have 2.2 already installed, then it will come out then, or shortly after. Assuming Ghettro isn't FOS, like they typically are... I think 2.2 would be great, if it were a customizable download, through your PC... Like you could opt out of all the bloatware, including the stupid bird game... Which, if you don't already know, won't even run on our phones... lol
 
Ok so i just went n2 my browser and opened this forum. All of a sudden a box popped up that said something along the lines of "u have a msg from android." It gave me a few options to open the msg and i touched "open in new window". Then it said loading. And then said "unable to open message because of a pop-up blocker"

Now.....how do i retrieve this msg after allowing popups? And could this be the possible pop-up style update alert that i saw mentioned in other threads?:confused:

Are you sure it wasn't somebody sending you a private message?
 
Ugh I'm sry. I'm just so damn antsy bout the update. I'm thinking i might get the optimus c at cricket and tell huawei to shove it

Its not the official 2.3..and it does work (except for MMS)..but its still a work in progress.

That being said, I flashed to the CM7 (2.3) ROM last night and I'm happy with it so far...other than not having MMS ive only run into minor bugs.

Got tired of waiting on Froyo..although I'll probably still flash when the update drops.

True but I can live w/o mms to have a OS that runs smooth n w/o lagging like 2.1 did lol. Actually it seems ALOT less buggy than the original 2.1 that came on it lol

I may flash the update if it ever comes out just to check it out, but most likely flash CM7 back shortly after lol. I love the added features, the looks, and the lack of bloatware. :)

You can do that if you don't mind a smaller screen. I've seen the Optimus and the difference between 3.5" and 3.2" is noticable.

"Everybody needs to calm down about the ascend update... Your complaining about the tapout edition getting it before normal ascends. The tapout doesnt come out until the 8th. Its the 31st right now. You have 8 1/2 days left before it releases. So maybe if you use your head they are going to release 2.2 froyo the same exact day for the regular ascend (the 8th)."

not a snowballs chance in hell we'll get the update first, or even within weeks. they need to make their cash, that explains the sellout to tapout. only way they can sell teh phone to the status symbol culture we have here.

Thats true, ill have to give you credit on that. But ehh idk lets just hope it doesnt happen even though it probably will
 
Im sure if Metro doesn't "officially" release a 2.2 update, someone will backup their 2.2 from the tapout and post it for everyone to install...
 
if flash viewing u mean flash player no, the ascend wont do flash so I am told. But yea it has all the features that come in 2.3. MMS isint working yet, camera works but is still a lil buggy, n umm google maps slows it up a bit.

What it has over 2.2 I;m not sure yet, looking at cm6 now.
