[Official Discussion] Huawei Ascend 2.1 - 2.2 Firmware Upgrade (Info updated as received!)

I just read through the entire thread linked above. I'm very interested, but the lack of GMaps kills it for me. I use GMaps quite often, along with other apps that I depend on GMaps for. Once that is fixed, i'll be all over it.
 
Ok, stupid question, but I figure it is one I thought should be mentioned, before I forget again... With the 2.2 update, will we get multi touch? I like the use of it on other phones, but was curious if we would get the chance to enable it, on our phones, via the update?!

afaik the drivers for multi arent compiled yet. but we can all hope.
 
but the thing is thats whn will they release the update. before or after the tapout edition huawei ascend comes out

Probably after like that other guy said - They need to make money on the tapout edition first then theyll release 2.2. If they release it the same day no one will buy the tapout edition but the regular ascend which is cheaper

June's to far. If they dont realease it by April i rather get a diffrent company. Im just waiting for the xperia play to come out and im switching companies
 
i saw a post to the android task force facebook on metro's page. So i decided to post on their wall when 2.2 be released and this was their response

obviously this cant be true so im not arguing with this person about this saying how metro annouced it countless times - Also that their releasing a 2.2 tapout edition on the 8th - So why wouldnt we recieve the 2.2 update shortly after


This shows how little people know .-.
 
@Lulu yea there are always people on there saying that! Lol Metro has said at least 5 times that we'll get it..but people just go absolutely crazy over it! And people saying things like that is only adding fuel to the fire lol...

Anyone tried this yet?? I didnt even bother turning up the volume lol..the comments say SMS doesnt work..I think they mean MMS..which probably means its not official. I'll just wait..

I don't think 2.2 is even the major selling point of the Tapout edition for most (normal) people. It does show that they have had the update laying around for awhile.
 
If you have your huawei ascend with no plan and expect not to activate it I recommend you do it. BUT IF YOU HAVE WORKING SERVICE DO NOT DO IT IT WILL MESS YOUR PHONE UP YOU WILL HAVE A UIM CARD PROBLEM WHICH AT THE MOMENT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REVERSE AND THIS IS TRUE INFORMATION IT HAPPENED TO ME

Wrong thread. This is for the official update. Look for the Froyo ROM thread in the all things root section. I think you can just re flash or go back to stock.

A couple points here:
A) There is no official release yet, which is what this thread is about.
B) There is very little that you can do to this phone that is impossible to reverse. Getting a UIM error is common with certain ROMS.

You are having problems and we can help you, but please look for a thread with your problem. If there isn't one feel free to start a new one. You can PM me if you want to. I'll be more than happy to help you or at least guide you in the right direction to get the help you need.
