[Official Discussion] Huawei Ascend 2.1 - 2.2 Firmware Upgrade (Info updated as received!)

Well according to Metro tomorrow is supposed to be our upgrade date..i even called the corp store in my area, and they did verify it would be an OTA push. However with their history of canceling the update i am not going to hold my breath.

Actually the insurance cover both Missing/Lost, physically damaged including liquid damage and Mechanical out of warranty. I work for the insurance. and don't worry I won't tell about phones being rooted LOL.

All it really takes is basic knowledge of how the apps work and learning a few technical terms. It really isn't that hard at all. Plus I didn't even really need my laptop to do mine. The only thing I'd suggest a computer for is backing up your SD card so you don't lose contacts, ringtones, etc. because you will have to format it. Other than that, it's pretty easy.
 
guys, I just checked the apps store (metro pcs apps) and there it shows a free app from huawei to update the phone to froyo 2.2. I havent done it yet because i need to back up my files. Just letting you guys know.
 
ok now im skeptical. I look on the metro app store and there they had the update. Description - updates your ascend to 2.2 froyo. So i downloaded to see whats up. Then it says (phone is up to date - No updates found) .-.
 
Everyone seems to be having the same problem - Seems they posted the application and will add the update shortly. So the wait once again for stock users begins.

I got it to download and install the update program, and it says that my system is up to date with 2.1...even though at the app store it says it will update our phone to 2.2 lol...

Once again Metro proves how much they suck

the update from market is just to speed up boot time, no actual 2.2, but most likely when they release it, it will come threw there app store.:rolleyes:
 
Hi i loaded cm 7 on my huawei acsend and now all it does is startup and bootloopand my pc wont recongnize it when i plug it in. need help please!!

sounds like a bad flash pull battery for 10 sec than put it back in and press and hold vol up, call key and tap power and reflash cm7, but make sure you go to mounts/storage and format boot,system,data,cache.
 
I just got off the phone with an "official" MetroPCS technical support guy; he got an email while we were on the phone, that even though you can download the program to upgrade your Huawei Ascend to Froyo, the program won't download the upgrade until "around June 6th"...so go ahead and download the file from the "@METRO" store, and it is pre-scheduled to re-check it's status every couple of weeks. Then, we should FINALLY have our FROYO!!!! YAY!!!!

it will be slow and full of bloatware...all the metro stuff back on there and a under clock oc kernel...but also about the date, well back in december is when the update suppose to had come and every monththey will set a date and that date never comes...:cool:
