[Official Discussion] Huawei Ascend 2.1 - 2.2 Firmware Upgrade (Info updated as received!)

Yeah i think it was a wate of time. I imagine when theres an up date they will use that. For jonow it tells u to connect to wifi.. i dont have wifi so i finally managed to connect to wifi elsewhere and it checks current system and then tells me my 2.1 system is up to date. Thentheres a list of things to choose from but its empty for now. If anyone ever finds an updaye through it let me know. For now i will stick with the cm7 mod from prepaid-androids. I love it. Just wanted to check it out though. See the difference.

same results here when i reverted back to stock to test it for others, but i can tell you this, it will be a POS and a big downgrade from cm7 and also under clock as well.:cool:
 
hi on my metro pcs huawei ascend i went to the metro app store and i saw that they offered a andoid 2.1 to 2.2 update. but i cannot get this to work. any ideas?
 
in the metro pcs app store there is an update for 2.1 to 2.2 but when u try it just says your phone is up to date even though you are still stuck with 2.1

Because metro havnt release an update for it yet and theres no telling when they going to, but if you want 2.2 unofficial i suggest cm6 2.2 froyo, just click the link in my siggy or go here for a very easy to use instructions on how to install it. http://androidforums.com/ascend-all-things-root/320265-ultimate-ascend-customization-guide.html

POS isn't the word for what Metro will release if ever. They have bumped it again till June 6th (Probably trying to sell more crappy TapOuts). Like many have said if you want something good and are tired of waiting. Get CM6 or CM7.

Hi all. Long time reader first time poster. Can I get from stock to cm6 or 7 without a computer? I thought I has read some posts that said it could be done. Thanks.

yes, download rom manager and it will install cwm recovery 3.0.0.5 and download:

hey guys i flashed my phone to cm6 and when i try to send texts that are around 2 or more pages long it wont send anyone know of a fix for that?

is it trying to send as mms, from my understanding anything over 150 it converts it to mms... have to run a test on it.

actually no it doesnt say converting to mms i use go sms pro so it just makes the texts into pages on the bottom (1) (2)(3) and so on idk its weirdd
 
Ok. I did the z4root and titanium but have not done backup as I do not have any apis which I cannot just go to market and replace. Issue currently is that when I try to download files to phone from link the file size does not match the size of file listed on website. I'm not familiar with ability to unzip files from phone.

is you using wifi to download file, also which files are you trying to download?
 
Using slow metro connection. Is that the problem? and I am downloading the three files you said to from media fire to get cm7 to my phone. I have rooted and downloaded titanium so Iam that far at least. Thanks for any help or advice

metro 1x will kill you everytime, connect it to wifi and download it, cause with 1x you will never get it, it will download to a certain point than stop, if you dont have wifi at your house you can try going o star bucks or some other known places that have wifi and use theres...;) or use your pc to download them and connect your phone to pc or use a sdcard reader and transfer them to you sdcard.
