[Official Discussion] Huawei Ascend 2.1 - 2.2 Firmware Upgrade (Info updated as received!)

that may be so but theres threads and posts all over the place on updating to the latest build so worry not flower theres both help and hope

Hi, I've made the choice to switch my stock MetroPCS Ascend to CM7 2.3

I've read threw the forum on how to switch to it but it's all pretty confusing, I'm not really a techy kind of guy. Can anyone assist me in switching my ROM to CM7? All help is appreciated.
 
Si i have downloaded cm7 several times it is always 253 kb when the download is like 66 mb. Is this right? maybe you open it and it in turn downloads the complete file? Just downloaded the gaps yesterday and it downloaded fine at 5.5 mb. Any thoughts? And that was over my 1x turtle connection.
 
Metro FINALLY released the 2.2 update. You have to go to the @metro app store and download it. In the process of doing it right now. ;)
 
HELP!!! i have Metro and i went to the @metro app store instead of the regular market by mistake and guess what i saw there? the is a download for the 2.2 froyo i dl it but it says my phone is upt to date already am i doing something wrong?

2.2 just came out for the ascend update software the file sizes 142mb it is flashing the firmware on my phone right now wish me luck I just got it back to stock this evening

it up and running and it is version 2.2.2 and so far even though it has only been up for and hour now it is a huge improvement over the 2.1 boingo not included that in itself is enough reasons to upgrade i disliked Boingo crape always popping up it is faster but the market still will not let me install flash 10.3 the market thinks I'm still using 2.1

this 2.2.2 still sucks compared to cm7, but with either rom flash will not work on this phone regardless what ever rom you put on it, and yes its a big step up from 2.1 but our phones lack the hardware to run flash and all.
 
I figured out what my problem was with angry birds I was playing it on 2.1 now that I have 2.2 damn it's fast

you must of had a old version and also it will not work right if it is install to sdcard instead of the phone itself. Also i made a backup of the rom so if and when isaac return he can take a look at it, and get it to work with cricket users...overall i like it some what but not better than cm7.

ok, its a big file, so i might have to upload to megaupload, also remember the old phone iso, well this on has a total different iso now.

no I had the latest version of android on my phone as far as 2.1 is concerned and AB was installed on the phone and not the mini SD but for some reason I don't care anymore because it works great now with the 2.2 update and as far as CM7 aka 2.3 after the nightmare I had today with just rooting my phone I decided against trying to install it myself and I was going to have a co-worker do it for me but after I used your lifesaver the metropcs recovery I checked to see if there was a upgrade from Huawei and low and behold there was
Huawei must of got my email I sent to them two days ago because I was pretty pissed off about there some what unjust delay in releasing 2.2

oh one other thing the update program says it will take up to 2 minutes to complete the upgrade that is freaking incorrect it's more like 10 minutes so don't panic like I almost did.

Oh and this forum is the best android forum I've found and the most helpful thanks for welcoming me.

your welcome and we are glad you are with us, and also to make angry birds run even better, turn off background in the angry bird setting...:D oh and about the 2 minute install, metro is full of it, hahahah over 2 minutes with about 3 reboots back to back on huawei screen.
 
I'm paying 50 dollars a month because I have a 3g phone the problem is I have never been able to achieve 3g 1g yea no problem as long as I'm standing on my head and facing north fraking MetroPCS is ripping me off and by what I have read from other users I'm not alone I see a class action against Metro in the not so distant future.

1x is technically 3G, so no class action is gonna win ;)

thanks that turn off background really made a difference it was fast now it's blazing fast

huawei is sneeky...z4root will not work with the one click on this 2.2, but like always there are back doors, we just have to find them. but if you try to root it, it will slow the phone down big time and also different this is not responsive, but once the phone reboots everything is back to normal. how every was able to install cwm 3.0.2.8 with no problems, just giving everyone a heads up if they where planning on rooting metro version of 2.2.
