[Official Discussion] Huawei Ascend 2.1 - 2.2 Firmware Upgrade (Info updated as received!)

i have had a huawei ascend for metro since february and waiting for the update. its been so long that ive been considering buying their blackberry. i havent been on this forum for awhile and now am interested in getting the 2.3 update that u guys are talking about. but i have no idea how to do it and am not good at this kind of stuff. can anyone help me out? thanks:D

I'm all the way to the cm7 download but cannot get the zip to download. Everytime I pushed download the page just reloaded to the download page. Dag nab it!
 
so guys i received an email from HANDMARK with a request for the metropcs huawei ascend software upgrade and they give me a link to download the file and install it on my phone anyone else get this email?

All that is was the little update...2.2 is still not officially available from Metro...If you want 2.2 or better then you better get CM6 or CM7. Metro has delayed it again until JUNE 6th.

138mb doesn't sound like a little update. Cm7 is only 65mb. They may be rolling out the 2.2 a little bit at a time.
 
I take it there is nowhere else to download the program except media fire? I just can't get it to download. I have everything else except cm7 itself.

you phone might not like being over clock @ 710mhz but with setcpu you can drop it to 691mhz and you cant tell any differents in speed either, and use ondemand as governor and see if that helps!

i actualy have on those exact settings and when press home and it sometimes freezes or then i open another app and it freezes without opening /;

is it certain apps that cause the phone to do that when you try to open and close them, and if thats the fact, is that app installed to you sdcard, and if it is move it to phone and try to open and close the app and see if the issue has been resolve, i founf certain apps that does that when i had a regular sdcard than i went and bought a class 4 and class 10 card...
 
I have the acsend from metro pcs and right now it is running 2.1.
If I go to the app store (from metro) they have a software update application and I can upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 (froyo)
Its currently stock, I didn't do anything to the phone yet. But someone I know has it running on 2.2 froyo software and told me to do it too.

Does anyone have the orgininal ascend and upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2 froyo and is running fine?

would mind telling me some apps that may do that like real common apps and i need the apps installed in my sd bc i bearlyy have any momery as it is with all the continuos apps that run like the maps and and market and i cant use task killers so yea

only 2.2 thats working and with no errors like a uim error will be cm6, you can click the link in my siggy. but he cant be running a rom from metro thats for sure, cause its not even out.

that depends on what you call common, you can use the running process in go launcher ex to kill the maps, but maps never run on mines until i open it, but like any theme should not be move to sdcard as it will cause problems...also another app thats safe to run is auto memory manager and it works great, its in the market and you can set it to mild or aggressive but i use mild and i have no FC or reboots, and it keeps your memory free and whatever you set it to.

all i have on the sd are the apps i downloaded off the market thats it the apps that run by it seldf and that android assistant doesnt kill is RATE PLACES and MARKET idk whyy and i cant find auto memory manager in the market

when you sign in the market using your computer, does it see your phone as Huawei Ascend? But i can send you the free version .apk file.

yea i signed in with my google acount and it says huawei m860 does the free version do what i need to keep the phone running smootly?
