[Official Discussion] Huawei Ascend 2.1 - 2.2 Firmware Upgrade (Info updated as received!)

Yup. I did the upgrade through Metro and worked great. But then decided to flash PG's and worked even better. Not one single problem with my phone yet.
 
Well,since updating to the official 2.2 I've noticed alot of apps I had on the stock 2.1 have now been listed as incompatible and can't be downloaded from the market on computer or even found in the market from the ascend itself. Camera Magic and and Google Goggles both were deemed incompatible but I manually installed the apk files I had for each before and both work no different than they did before the update. Anyone else been finding apps that were removed for them?
 
I haven't tried downloading any apps that require 2.2 yet. I did notice that when I go to Market on my PC, all my old apps still show as installed, even though the upgrade wiped them. I was however able to reinstall them from Market with no problems.

Which apps require 2.2? I'll see what happens on my Ascend...

well i figured out holding end volume up and the power button forces the firmware update to retry installing. I just did it a second time and it now seems to be working. I hope it is.

now that you have 2.2 your market will change, not alot tho, it will now show 2.2 apps that 2.1 couldnt see at first, and 2.1 apps might not show back up, but if you have the .apk for older apps, im sure they will install and work like before.

I just wish i could get the update to work.
 
btw question for those that have gotten it to work, was it through the @metro app or did you download the files and do it manually?

so far I have updated 26 phones with no issues I do not no who you talked to but I have learned that most of the morons that work at Metro are just that freaking morons

on one of the phones I updated it only had 23% battery left but on that phone I copied the DLoad directory and the 2 files in it to the sd card and used the built in update software I also was charging the phone at the time and I had no problems. of-course I made sure all the phones where at stock before I proceeded.
 
My keyboard won't let me type consistently anymore although I can make phone calls with the mouse. Can't move on and clear bloat cause it's very hard to type.:mad:

I just installed Titanium backup and am unable to back up. I'm lost. it is asking if I want to upgrade super user to DD. Did that. Seems like apps back up one at a time. still can't get my touch screen working again.

while its plugged in it shouldnt be no problem, but like anything the ascend have its days and like to mess up, but did you get it working again?
