[Official Discussion] Huawei Ascend 2.1 - 2.2 Firmware Upgrade (Info updated as received!)

I just noticed after upgrading to 2.2.2 that the Sound recorder is gone but it is not gone if you look in the installed apps it's listed as installed but it uses zero bites. does anyone no how to get this to work because I really do like it it comes in handy like when the boss calls me into the office and says one thing and in two days deny's ever saying it. I've tired several of the ones on the market but they don't work as well as the android recorder did the android one picked up sound really good so far all the ones on the market you have to face the phone toward the person or persons you want to record or you won't be able to here them very well.:mad:
 
i just flashed my phone with cm6. is ther a manual or something out there. i also dont know how to get to my apps. last thing my screen doesent rotate i hav rotate screen off cuz of that. thank u
 
I have CM7 installed but I have noticed there is a new build out by playfullgod my question is do I have to go through all the steps like I did when I first installed cm7 or can I just go into CWM and install zip from sd and choice the playfulgods version?

I'd make a backup b4 ya tried it. Its recommended to always wipe b4 flashing. With that said, I have done it many times with no issues.

wipe data/ factory reset
wipe cache

advanced

wipe dalvik cache
so just do these 3 steps than i should be good to go with the update
i already have a good backup from just to hours ago

yup those will do unless you're on a very old build currently.

OK so I installed 06182011 not once twice but three times and all three times I had the same result the phone would not go past the splash screen PlayfulGod do you no what could be causing this
 
I upgraded my cricket ascend to the cm7 (Build 06182011) and barcode scanning apps like shopsavvy etc will lockup the camera and I have to reboot to get it working again. Anyone know why?

I think it may have something to do with it trying to autofocus but I'm not sure
 
ok i just read the sticky on how to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2, all 3 pages just about and also all of the stuff that seemed to get it locked.

so in one link or youtube video how do i upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2?

also did i read correctly in that the upgrade will wipe all my data? that includes my stored contacts?

If so, how do I back up those contacts/data up BEFORE the 2.2 upgrade?

obviously i'm about as green aka noob as can be with my ascend !! :o

Ive been trying to get rid of the bloatware on my ascend now that ive updated it but it wont work ive used titanium backup and ive already rooted my phone so i dont know what could be the problem.

Anyone know why specifically the barcode scanners don't work? One thing I noticed on an app called fooducate the camera was working until I hit autofocus then it froze. Maybe the OS is reporting it has autofocus so apps that have autofocus (like barcode scanning apps that benefit from it) start trying to use it and in turn freeze since the ascend doesn't have autofocus? I'm just guessing lol

tats basically the gist of it, it needs proper libs for it and none have been coded for 2.3 on the ascend. And unless someone that knows C++, we'll prolly never see it.
 
Every time I try to update my Ascend the firm ware update fails, I have a WI-FI connection, and i'm sure that my SD card has room on it. What is the problem?
 
will I have tired both and I have come to the conclusion that CM6 is the winner more shit works with it will the shit I use works and that is all that matters. I also found no phone is ever truly bricked as long as you can get into CWM and you have a good backup thank god I had 3 backups because 2 of them were no good.
